So was Turok 2008 our last decent chance at Hot Dino battle action™?

Just take Super Smash Bros. 4 Wii U, choose 4-player-mode and use four different coloured Yoshis. There you have Hot Dino battle action :).

This is the second Turok remaster in development it seems, given the Doom 64 EX developer is also in the early stages of making one.

I can't actually tell if this is the original or the remaster.

Only Turok I ever played was Turok Evolution on Gamecube.

You briefly fight raptors but otherwise it was mostly the Sleg. Game was still fun though. The secondary fire modes were pretty awesome. Like the pistol that can extend into a sniper rifle or the shotgun you can continously pump until you can fire four shells at once.

Marvel Heroes has a savage lands level where you can kill dinosaurs wholesale.

Seriously though, I would love an open world Jurassic Park game with todays technology.

Well, the original didn't have light shafts or 60fps, so there's that. Still, considering this is the Doom 64 EX guy we'll probably be looking at something extremely faithful to the original release, but with some major enhancements as opposed to a complete overhaul.

I really hope this still a thing

It isn't, at least the developer said the games development has 'taken a back seat' to the PC multiplayer game, and they also took down the website. They are indeed polishing up their original release though, a big patch was released on Steam not long ago.

I thought the patch wasn't out yet?
Last I played everything was the same unless it just came out.

Who owns the turok video game rights?

The comic owners at this point. No one has picked them up for a new game or reimagining yet.

Also I want to add that the reason I really like Turok 2008 was the setting. Was glad they dropped the alien and odd setting nonsense of the N64 games. Was nice seeing a futuristic setting but more down to earth with the weaponry as such.

I know this is a becro bump. But it really solidifies just how long it has been since the last big dinosaur game with a SP focus. We just hit 9 years since Turok 2008, and next year will make 10.

We were so hopeful we'd have something by now back in 2013

Bish is still thankfully working with Nightdive to try and get 2008 on steam. Alongside Turok 1 and the upcoming Turok 2 port on steam.

I really wanted to play this when it came out. Never got to. Would be down to hunt down a PS3 copy, or get a remaster/sequel.

Dinosaurs are cool.

How does disney own the IP?

Turok the Dinosaur hunter has like 10 games and not one of them is actually about hunting dinosaurs and it's total bullshit!

Didn't Night Dive also mention the possibility of a new installment by them as well? Not 100% sure on that, but it'd be pretty neat to see their approach to the Turok series based on what's been shown of the System Shock remaster.

turok seeds of evil is in closed testing at moment with dedicated multiplayer servers and mod support, they have also overhauled lair of the blind ones. turok dinosaur hunter has mod support already. after seeds release its been hinted at other turok games being ported and a possible future new game.

Never heard that, but I'd love it. Even if it needed to be kickstarted like the System Shock 1 remake.

I didn't like the Turok reboot and If I remember correctly I didn't even bother completeting the game, and I just needed to beat the final boss.

Evolution was a way better game in my opinion.

also hoping theyre working on a turok 3 port

That may happen:

Q: So we know Turok 2: Seeds of Evil is on the way and I know a lot of people are really happy about that, myself include but will the lesser known N64 game, Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion ever get an enhancement?
A: Our team has really been focused on delivering the best re-mastered experience of Turok and Turok 2, and we're ecstatic about the positive feedback we've gotten so far. Personally, I'd love to see that happen, and if this keeps up, Turok 3 could definitely be something we consider and discuss for the future.

I hope Disney signs off on a re-release of Turok 2008 (and Stubbs the Zombie).

Any updates on Turok 1 remastered coming to the Xbox One?

I remember them announcing it almost two years ago now?

I need these games on consoles!

Doesn't seem so, but Night Dive did say that both Turok and Turok 2 would make the jump to the X1, so perhaps the hold-up is that it wants to release them simultaneously. Between the Turok 2 remaster, whatever other re-releases it's working on, and System Shock, it may not even have the manpower to spare for X1 ports just yet.

I'm glad to see some people saying positive stuff about Turok 2008. I thought I was the only one who liked it. The setting was so cool, and doing knife fatalities on Raptors was awesome! Also, I really miss Dinosaur games in general. It feels like there hasn't been a good one in so long. Are there any on PS4 that people would recommend (I should mention I have very little interest in MMO's)?

Just Ark, I think, and Horizon if robodinos count.

I'd never played a Turok game prior to when the original was released on Steam. Since a lot of people tend to say negative things about the Turok games, my expectations weren't very high, so I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the game. I think it says a lot about most modern FPS games when a game like Turok that supposedly hasn't aged well can manage to feel pretty fresh. I might actually revisit this, since I just finished playing Remember Me and kind of want a change of pace.

Nah, robodinos don't count. Real Dino's (as in the scaly Jurassic Park versions, not the real ones that apparently had feathers and looked super lame) are best Dino's. I guess I'll just have to replay Dino Crisis and Turok again. :(

Actually, Turok 1, 2, and (to a lesser extent) 3 were all widely praised at the time of their release, and Turok 2 is still my personal favorite shooter on the N64. Only Evolution was really trashed when it came about (because it was trash). The Turok reboot got a mixed reception when it came out, but I've always personally really liked it.

:D

Awesome!

To clarify, Bish suggested to Night Dive that it get in touch if it needs tech info on the game but that was over a year ago. He isn't involved with Night Dive's discussions with Disney to get it re-released; he hasn't worked within Disney since leaving Propaganda Games in 2009 and the studio was shut down in 2011.

in fairytale land, nintendo obtains the licence to the turok brand and hands it to retro studios. there's still some people there who worked on the n64 turok games, last i checked.

in reality though, any publisher is good enough. on any console. this franchise deserves more than what it has gotten.
but i want it to continue using the source material from the comics. i loved all 3 n64 games (there are only 3 games. not 4), and i really enjoyed the fireseed characters & tal'set.
