Gamescom 2014 Xbox Press Briefing
Tuesday, August 12, 2:00 PM CEST (5:00AM PDT), Twitch.tv/Xbox
Next Tuesday, we’re excited to join the Xbox team in the annual press briefing, where we’ll share some new announcements with you in our portion of the show. The show will be streamed at Twitch.tv/Xbox, so you’ve got no excuses. We’ll see you there.

I'm sorry 343, but I do have an excuse for not catching the stream and that's because I likely won't be awake at 6am.
:(

Welp the latest Halo Bulletin someone kinda linked to earlier confirms they are doing a panel (well MS is doing one with a portion of it dedicated to this game) and it looks like they are doing another one too. It was hard to tell by their wording. It just sucks that it is so early in the morning for those over here in America. See below:

Halo 2: Anniversary Multiplayer Hands-On
Halo 2: Anniversary will be playable for the first time on the gamescom show floor. We’ll be running 4v4 gameplay on Ascension and a yet-to-be-announced map, with multiple game types available for your enjoyment. Swing by the Xbox booth in Hall 6, where we’ll have a bunch of consoles and controllers waiting for you. We’re excited to watch you play and hear your thoughts on the anniversary treatment we’ve given to Halo 2 multiplayer. If you're at the show, you will have a chance to play Wednesday through Sunday.

Halo Stream From the Xbox Booth
Wednesday, Aug 13, 11:00 AM CEST (2:00 AM PDT), Twitch.tv/Xbox
Live from the gamescom Xbox booth, we’ll have our very own Bonnie Ross, Dan Ayoub, and Kiki Wolfkill live streaming content we’re only showing behind-closed-doors via Twitch.tv/Xbox. Be sure to tune in for insider access and sneak peeks at what’s to come.

I gotta assume the unannounced map will be Lockout but who knows. We only have 3 left and one has to be Lockout and one other map is one that contains a waterfall according to a hint by Frankie.

Love of god, With those times I'm at work....
Darn it all, I though it being in Germany, I could be a smug UK gaffer.
Now this, Oh well... headphones in and watch anyway.

GAME must have paid out of their ass to get a worldwide exclusive. I want that steelbook but for $96 after shipping I'd need some more goodies.

I totally bit. I'm like screw it. It's the MCC. Shit it's 4 damn complete games. I'll splurge. Hence I have one ordered. Hope it doesn't take forever to get here. Their international shipping looks pretty cheap though so I expect it to.

New map has got to be Lockout or what, Midship? Sanctuary? Also I'm a big fan of the tournament they are sponsoring... can't wait to watch some competitive Halo with a substantial pot.

Yea I'd love to catch those streams but I work for a living during the day so I need my damn sleep.

I would hope 343 puts archives of the steams on youtube but I'm not holding my breath.

I kind of luck out where the stream starts at 6am my time and that's when I wake up to get ready for work. I'll definitely be watching as I eat breakfast and check emails.

HALO: THE MASTER CHIEF COLLECTION WILL SUPPORT LAN

http://teambeyond.net/master-chief-collection-will-support-lan/

You know what would be really awesome?

If you could LAN Halo 1 MCC multiplayer with OG Xbox Halo 1 multiplayer

Also

Rhys Weir( ͡o ͜ʖ ͡o) @TheLittleMoa
@chespace @SIayher @JoshuaKraZeR So if we don't have an active internet connection, we can't LAN on Xbox One for MCC?

che chou @chespace
@TheLittleMoa @SIayher @JoshuaKraZeR correct. note that bandwidth doesn't need to be very robust. Xbox just needs a ping from LIVE.

Yea the whole you must connect to live to lan thing kind of defeats the purpose of doing a lan I'd think. Guess it's better then nothing at least.

The LAN mode is worthless if it needs a LIVE connection IMO.

Halo 2 is kept alive via LAN now the official servers shut down, it's sad that we'll have to move back to Xbox Halo 2 again once Xbox LIVE for the One shuts down.

This is what, 10 years away? Kinda strange to be sad over something so far away for a game that is not even out yet.

I know its not directly the always online DRM we hated on at reveal but its nearly same kind of online DRM, Its not exactly LAN if theres internet involved. Why is there required connection pings to LIVE?
I am wondering what people think of this low level online DRM that is in place. I dont have a XBOXONE

Edit: I dont have a XBOXONE I do wonder how badly the offline XBOX is hindered.

Not a big deal, imo. Better to at least have LAN than none at all.

Played some Split-Screen with my friend yesterday...forgot how much the Black Borders take from the screen lol.

Not that it can be fixed in future games.

The black borders exist to keep the aspect ratio correct. EDIT no idea if you know this. But there are many others who surely do not know this... so now they know.
If you played Halo 2 back in the day (or Halo CE for that matter), you should know how messed up the splitscreen aspect ratios were, along with this impacting, somewhat at least, to field of view.

Oh I did, I just forgot.

And some games I have played gave you so much FOV to make up for it or stretched it out so much that it looked stupid.

Nothing I can't attune to. Trying to get my friend into Halo. We lost almost every game we played, in CTF and Big Team, but I blame the rest of the team for not being able to counter our poorness.

Also, a new question for Frankie or anyone here: Will Forge Maps still kill Split-Screen like they do in Halo 4?

I'd like to split-screen Grifball™, America's Favorite Pastime™, but it's hard when the maps kill the framerate.

"Sneak Peeks at what's to come" and the mention of it being a "Halo Stream" and not specifically H2A like the other items they listed makes me think this will be something to do with Halo 5.

I actually deleted that free Forge world DLC map for Halo 4. Figured i'd rather not even get maps built on that in MM when playing with a friend (basically the only time when i play Halo 4). Now if i could get rid of the rest of Forge maps, Shatter and Complex, all the rest are at least moderately playable in splitscreen, occasional hiccups aside.

With a base line of 60fps there is a lot more headroom to account for drops in framerate before it becomes unplayable thankfully.

Yeah it's not LAN if it requires an XBL ping, even if it's just a 'modest' one.

The whole point of being able to LAN is that you can meet up with other XB1 owners anywhere, throw down a router and an extension cord or two, and get an 8 to 16 player match going.

If you are required to have even one of the units pinging Live periodically to allow you to have a LAN, that's total bullshit. Unless the system itself is incapable of true LAN arrangements, in which case #BlameMS.

I totally bit. I'm like screw it. It's the MCC. Shit it's 4 damn complete games. I'll splurge. Hence I have one ordered. Hope it doesn't take forever to get here. Their international shipping looks pretty cheap though so I expect it to.

Thanks to the Microsoft Store's downright silly promotion a while back, I bought ten games for less than $1 each at gamestop, and traded them in at the MS store for $10 trade in credit EACH, for a grand total of $9 profit per game ($90 profit total), so I don't mind at all picking up a 'standard' copy at the MS store essentially for free, with $25-30 left over from the original $90 I made off them.

Then when my steelbook arrives (probably 2 or 3 weeks later) from GAME, I'll just sell the standard copy on craigslist for $45. Combine that with the $25-30 I have left over from the original $90 I made off the MS promotion, and I'll only actually be out $15-20 of my own money for my import steelbook from GAME.

If you followed all that, the translation is I WIN thanks to the MS Store lol.

GAME said on Twitter they have worldwide exclusivity. https://twitter.com/GAMEdigital/status/496965112235053056

Which is actually really weird...

I learned a LONG time ago not to trust marketing jargon. They might have worldwide exclusivity for those two specific skus of the item. But MS/343i would only need to change one small detail (a different paint job to the steelbook or something), and voila! a version for the states that doesn't violate the exclusivity agreement.

If in 3 months we have no steelbook version for the states, I'll be genuinely surprised, but I won't care much since I have my LE coming from the UK.
