Did I once say I wasn't going to buy a PS4 because of that? NOPE.

Currently there's nothing on the system I want to play, the console, and Sony are fine. But acting like Sony has always been pro-consumer and acting like MS is the only one to have PR blunders is silly.
 
They'd need to announce exclusive games, that I want to play, that aren't going to be available on PC 12 to 18 months after the console debut. When a game i want to play has been out for a year and no PC port has been announced I'll buy one.

This explanation still doesn't make any sense to me.

If each console approaches its maximum potential as the generation progresses then the gap isn't going to get bigger unless you think that the PS4 is currently being underutilised by comparison with the Xbone. Given the complexity of the Xbone's hardware by comparison with the PS4 and the comparatively bad state of its development tools, then how is performance going to delta over time?

Take the PS2 and PS3. Both were more complex than their competitors and both had worse tools than their competitors. But they both arguably showed the largest improvements over time as compared with their competitors for precisely those reasons.

After the disaster of the X1 launch we all bought PS4s. I told myself I'd pick up a x1 after a few great games came out and I had time/money.

But now, I'm finding that I just don't care that much. Sure there are a few games, but all my friends need to buy a x1 as well for it to matter. Games like the MC collection and Sunset Overdrive only appeal to me if I can play with my friends and none of my friends can afford 2 consoles and 2 yearly subscriptions.

So right now, for me to get one it needs to be so damn cheap and compelling that ALL my friends are willing to own both. That's a tall order.

Pretty much. My 360 history was horrible:

3 -- RROD
2 -- Disc drive crashes
2 -- E74

After all that I still bought a slim and it works to this day. Funny thing is I bought a Fat PS3 60 but to this day have only played a couple of games on it and none since HSG OOB ( hated the DS3 )

You would think id have bought a One but they've lost me for good...
 
I already purchased mine but if I was on the fence i would have probably waited for new exclusive IP. Stuff like Sunset Overdrive and Quantum Break would have caught my attention. I would have waited for reviews about the next Halo. Considering I own the one already, I am still going to get Halo Guardians.

Nah the name is in reference to the fact that its nice to be both a PC and a Console gamer, and such things shouldn't divide us.

But yea, I'm Primarily a PC gamer, and I also play xbox games. Some of the best gaming Memories I have are with games played with my friends on xbox, either system linked or on live. Some of them are right up there with my most fond Memories from EQ and Neocron, my two favorite PC games I play to this day.

But yea, I'm a warrior because I disagree that people should wish for sony to have no competition, and I think the xbone name is juvenile and pretty much marks people who use it as not capable of rational conversation about MS or the Xbox.
 
Realistically nothing, I wouldn't buy the console for €50, I have no desire to support Microsoft, don't like their American centric approach and there's nothing on their system I'd play that isn't on PS4 or PC.
Hypothetically a bunch of exclusives of my favourite games, not timed or DLC but actual lifelong exclusives of things like Persona, the next tales or KH3.

On the last page you pretty much ran defence and denial for every actual problem people say they have experienced. You called them crazy, angry, Microsoft haters.

You seem utterly incapable of acknowledging that a lot of their past customers have had a lot of problems with their hardware and services.
 
Last gen I picked up a 360 to play Fable 2 and Mass Effect (1 and 2). Given that the Mass Effect games ended up on ps3 anyways I can't imagine buying a XBone this time around.

I would guess that the only thing that might sway me would be Fallout 4 being exclusive or something along those lines.

I'm not anti-microsoft but there's just no compelling reason to own an XBone that I can see.
 
Nothing, they changed their minds about Kinect too late, I already have a PS4 and don't intend on owning more than one of the two this gen, it's just too redundant considering how similar they are.

I've grown past the notion of an exclusive that could sell me on a console (unless it's Nintendo), I don't really care about AAAs anymore outside of very specific niches, and I don't feel like any indie could be a genuine killer app.

Yep, exactly this.

Further, as much as the PC only thing has been touted on here as a reason not to buy an XB1 its equally a reason not to buy a PS4 (crappy reason in both cases, but equally crappy) I have an XB1 for the exclusives I want, and so far there's been nothing I want on PS4 I coudn't get on my PC. Well, there's been nothing on PS4 that was interesting period, but that's beside the point.

Im definitely just as curious. Its funny how a huge fuck up worked out so great for them. Sold a shit ton of boxes in the States. Count me as a sucker who invested in 2 brand new 360's last gen.
 
I am mostly interested in Crackdown 3 and Phantom Dust 2, so until I hear more on those projects, I am content holding off on the purchase. Especially given that by the time those games come out, the system will likely be 299.99 w/ kinect.
 
Only thing that can help MS is games. They need to invest more money in developing more first party games and encourage their studios to try new things. Releasing the same type of games again and again will not help them.

I would buy a XB1 if it had the right type of games on it. The only XB1 game that interests me right now is sunset overdrive but i cant justify spending 400$ for a single game.

OT, I'm not sure what would make me want an Xbox One. In the past, I said $299 so I could buy it for exclusives...But with what has transpired recently, with a fair amount of exclusives coming to PC, it's kinda hard to commit when I already have a PC....
 
think for all the money MS have put into gaming, they really don't have first party portfolio to match it, they have not invested well imo. When 360 dried up there were warning signings then. Despite PS4 coming out Sony delivered top PS3 titles in the last 24 months. Put Nintendo in the same bracket where they basically left the Wii to die and it cost them where the market had left and didn't come back.
 
It'd have to be 300 dollars or less, with a number of exclusives I want to play. I'm not interested in titles like Sunset Overdrive or Crackdown or whatever else they've shown.

The performance is going to "delta" over time because the hardware power gap is vast. Right now the performance difference between the consoles on most multiplats does not even come close to reflecting the power difference between these consoles. The PS4 literally outclasses the XB1 in every conceivable way aside form a marginally higher gpu clock on the XB1 that is significantly diminished in potential due to significantly fewer ROPs and shader cores. On paper according the to the performance numbers the gap should be much wider so one can only assume that this is due to inefficient early coding and a general inability to truly utilize the hardware or some kind of attempt at graphical parity. So yes the gap will almost certainly increase as the hardware on both consoles becomes easier to utilize because the math essentially dictates it will.

But that comparison implies that the architecture between XB1 and PS4 differs enough that a straight hardware comparison holds less value. This simply isnt true. ESRAM is an additional difficulty yes but it doesn't provide the XB1 with anything uniquely powerful or with higher potential than its competitors. Due to the fact aht both are using a shared memory x86 architecture the ESRAM is simply a handicap to be overcome not a unique architecture to be exploited unlike the Emotion engine (PS2) or the Cell (PS3) that had very unique properties that provided an advantage in the long run. The XB1 has no such unique architecture to expliot in the future. In fact it has an added bottleneck that not only fails to overcome its bandwidth disadvantage but locks is likely to lock its framebuffer at a measly 32mb for the entirety of the generation.

You really believe that? I understand they don't have the vast first party studio....but do you really believe their approach has been unsuccessful? I think devs greatly appreciate getting money to still do their thing while not having to be under Micro's control.

Ninty's problem isn't the same as Microsoft's.
 
I bought a 360 towards the end of its lifespan, enjoyed the cheap exclusives for a little over a year and sold the system. Seemed too redundant to have both a PS3 and 360.

That said I may do something similar this gen and pick up a xbox one in a few years to see what I missed, but for now, there is nothing MS can do to make me go out a pick one up right away.
 
I bought one at launch and I love it - though as with PS4 - I still feel both companies rushed next-gen to market and considering the amount of recent delays to 2015 it seems to support my theory.

Both systems have great potential, but even when I was at E3 this past June while there are some great games due soon, the BIG ONES in my opinion are moved to 2015.

Anyway as an "older" gamer I'm excited for the future of these systems.
 
I might get one if MS releases a new Xbox one model that is on par with PS4 hardware, but also cheaper ;d

As a nintendo fan, looking to expand his horizon, since ( lol no 3rd party on wii u ) ps4 looks far more attractive atm since it does have the better version of most of all the multiplats games.

I don't really care for Sony first party or MS's ones but sunset overdrive and Kamiy's scalebound atm do interest me a bit, if only MS built a more powerful machine =/
 
MCC, Sunset Overdrive, Forza Horizon 2 and Crackdown are enough for me to jump on board. Hoping for a MCC Bundle this holiday season.
 
If their online service matches sony in value.

3rd party mouse and keyboard support for games.

Relaxing of dumb policies that prevent good f2p, cross platform and mmo games from appearing on the one.

All my console playing friends owned one.

Exclusive metal gear solid VI.
 
If you love games I dont see the problem with having an X1. More games for your library that you cant get on another system exclusive wise. Cant wait for that new Gears. Really see Microsoft releasing some great games in the near future.

1080p to 900p and worse framerate/effects—the average gap in reality—has been actually pretty close to the gap on paper, so I don't know why you think it should be much larger. Some people seem to be labouring under the impression that the gap 'should' be like the Dreamcast to the Xbox or something absurd.

The Emotion Engine didn't provide the PS2 with anything uniquely powerful over its competitors. Even firing at full cylinders the PS2 was considerably weaker than Xbox and GameCube. I'm not talking about a comparison of the graphic effects, I'm saying that the complexity of those architectures meant that they showed the most improvement over time compared with their competitors. More complicated architecture takes more time to learn and exploit: that's how it's always been in the past.
