The cardboard box is a staple that's unique to all the games, I confess I never use it but I don't want it removed in case I just go all looney.

I barely used it in MGS4 because of Octocamo, but it was a different story in 2 and 3. I'm probably going to avoid using it in 5 just because the game is getting more realistic, which I like. I'm definitely not going to use the distraction boxes during regular gameplay, but they'll be great to fuck around with.

I don't recall saying that. Not sure what your continued hostility towards me on here is all about.
The same hostility you are having torwards people having fun saying they were breaking into stupidity

Again, want a serious discussion? Start it, no one's pointing a gun to your head and forcing you to take part in the crazier posts

I normally don't. I'm not being hostile towards anyone for it. I'm merely pointing out how each thread breaks down into such ridiculousness.

Mostly visually.

Mountains and fog?

I just want the pop in to go away.

YOU WANT NEW STUFF INFINITY PATRIOT?? YOU REALLY WANT IT?!

WELL THEN HERE YOU GO!

“Final tech check of the day is nearly done. Tomorrow’s event is going to be good”

I have to wait until tomorrow? WHHHHHYYYYYYY????

Don't place this at the end of the conference either.

Enough guys!

What is that in this picture? a close up of some kind of cells or something?

I'm kind of expecting the new Silent Hill game to crash the party here. I'm getting immediately skeptical with anything Kojima related - especially with Keighley involved.

Seriously, Kojima needs to never listen to his team. They fucking got rid of the original ending of MGS4, and for that they are forever idiots.

Yeah. The part about Snake not shooting himself and Big Boss watching to explain to him 'good thing you didn't shoot yourself' was retarded.

Snake committing suicide or being executed ? Either one would've been a cop out by killing solid snake. If you want take out solid at least do it in his prime doing something heroic/bad ass

I don't get it, visually speaking Metal Gear games have always tried to be as realistic.

Yeah, but before they were limited by tech and it still looked like a video game. Now the visuals and especially the animations are much more realistic and I'm less inclined to do goofy stuff like use magazines and sexy boxes.

I wish. I have such a disdain for Big Boss. None of the games he was in I liked.

I am the exact opposite. Not to say I did not enjoy MGS, MGS2, and MGS4, but I definitely prefer Big Boss's character and story arc way more than Solid Snake. :

Big Boss > Boss > Solid Snake > Raiden

As much as I wouldn't mind playing as a young Solid Snake, I would prefer a throwback mission to WW2 with the Boss... (or maybe even a full game, make it happen Kojima).

Being executed. And killing him off being bad ass would be the exact opposite of an appropriate ending for the character.

I'll go once again on record VGA with a final trailer with a release date. Tomorrow he's going to ala SE teasing an announcement to a future announcement.

Pretty much this. Hideo's idea for the first MGS4 ending was fucking terrible in my opinion. I'm glad they got him to change his mind. Loved the final ending to the series.

"This is good... Isn't it...?"

"No it's not good Big Boss. No it's not... None of this makes sense, what in the world are you blabbering about, oh nvm you're dead."

Hideo was screwed either way if he killed snake people be screaming how predictable it was and with ending we got people cry over him not dying.

Kojima did TDKR ending before Nolan now that I think about it, based kojima.

i probably won't use it on my first run through, but it's literally the only way i know how to beat MGS3 on euro extreme without killing anyone. going through Groznyj Grad after the torture sequence without the box seemed impossible for me.

Apparently the original plan was to have Snake and Otacon executed for their "war crimes" while "Here's to you" played in the background. Could have been interesting if they pulled it off well, in my opinion.

Yeah, that's why that song was playing in the first place.

I agree with you. The obsession with this discarded ending has always surprised me and I wonder how much Hideo actually wanted it. It sounds horribly anti-climatic. Who the fuck would be executing them anyway? The system of order that doesn't exist anymore. If he had to die, I'd rather go with the suicide ending. But even with that, I would have thought that was weird as Snake was essentially crafted to have an incredible survival instinct so killing himself would have gone totally against his genetic makeup (even if not being a slave to your genes is the point of the series or at least the first game). It may have been his final mission but being loyal to the mission no matter what the cost was more The Boss' thing.

I think, overall, a bittersweet ending is the way to go. I think killing the main character is such a cheap way to force some emotion on the audience and some people are obsessed with the notion of main characters dying at the end of things. For me personally, the ending we got made me more emotional than Snake just simply dying. Don't get me wrong, the presentation of the ending is far from perfect. Big Boss rambling on for half an hour about numbers and nanomachines was a bit much and it's a bit ridiculous that he's still alive but I still enjoyed the encounter between father and son. And Big Boss' third death, although overly long, was a nice way to end it.

Snake finally being given a chance to live his life away from battle and war is the part I think is particularly beautiful. Like I said, it's bittersweet. It's bitter that he doesn't have much time left but it's sweet that he can spend it not fighting. As Otacon said, Snake had a hard life. He deserved some rest that wasn't in a grave. He was bred to fight but I'm sure he could enjoy a few peaceful moments with the time he had left. The fans were really gunning for his blood though.

Disagree. That ending was great. Father and son finally making peace. And that tear in Big Boss' face. DAMN.

I agree about that part. It was awesome and emotional, but the fact that Boss stood there while watching Snake put a gun in his mouth about to kill himself when he didn't need to was a poor choice. That made the scene look so stupid.

How much do you think Silent Hills will affect MGSV development? KojiPro emblem didn't appear, but I think I saw KojiPro staff.

The Kojima Productions emblem actually appears
at the end
, as well as a title card for the Fox Engine! (Oh, and to answer your question - I don't believe it will have an impact on the release of MGSV, as MGSV's development has likely wrapped up with the exception of finishing touches!)

Well, it was obvious the FOX Engine was at play. I know Kojima will probably take a producer role. Not sure I'm interested in Silent Hills.

I don't know, man. It might not be as far along as you think.

I'm pretty sure this will be Kojima's next game and he will be heavily involved in it.
