PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | August 2014

I bought God of War Collection and SteamWorld Dig on this week's EU sale. Yay for me.

Also, is it just me, or the GoW Collection is just a widescreen-stretched PS2 port? The menus look pretty stretched to me... Not that I care that much, since I never played any GoW game, so yeah. At least I get to play the games.

You can even (one-way) import PS1/PS2 memory card saves with a USB adapter. And, with a bit more work, even move those saves to PC (or vice versa) for emulators.

Actually the memory card adapter works both ways now, they patched that a while ago. You can fully manage PS1 and PS2 memory cards from a PS3 with the adapter.

Oh dang, that's nice. Wish I could have saved my PS2 saves, I played all of .Hack GU and God of War on my PS3 but lost 'em because the fat PS3 died and backup utility didn't restore 'em to my new PS3.

edit:
Just came across a trailer for The Muppets Movie Adventures on youtube. Don't know it's been posted already.

Was interested in seeing how this game would play after seeing screenshots. Doesn't look all that exciting in motion imo.

Looks 100% like what I'd expect from a licensed game, gameplay-wise. Graphics are okay I guess, nothing special for the Vita, but not bad for licensed kids' property.

No, it is a port of the PS3 Collection; it is most likely stretched out either due to the that being the case in the original collection (as Sanzaru wasn't able to fix that issue in the Vita version) or due to heavy compression of the assets/menus, causing the stretching to occur (again, Sanzaru had to squeeze a 12+GB game onto a 3.4GB Cart.....so parts of the game may look fuzzy/stretched X().

Outside of that, it is a good port :). The frame rate of the two games are stable with not many drops and, well, its the PS2 GOW's on the go; what's not to love XD!

The UI was actually stretched in the original PS2 version of the games. When you enabled widescreen mode, it only ratio-adjusted the game world and the HUD elements.

Many games of that era (SD games with a widescreen option) were like that.

Whaaaaaaaat? I had assumed you already played it.

I preordered it. I just ended up selling trading it in for $35 3 months after buying it because I had already beaten it. Now I'm hoping it goes on sale for $20 so I can own it again since I never did bother with school mode.

Getting really tired of this European Phantom Breaker BG crap, so I mailed Strangely Compelling (thanks Shizuka) and told them that this is a mess and asked what's what with the pricing.
If the strangely numbered prices weren't enough, the DLC is even less than half price of the regular game (14.49 and 6.19 euros), so weird.

Let us know if they answer your inquiry. I think it's likely that once they notice it, they'll just make a "price drop" without any notice, to avoid refunds.

Uh who runs 5PB International exactly? The store page for the US version of Phantom Breaker Battlegrounds is Engrished like I haven't seen for years:

Smooth animation of retro 8-bitGraphic is highly evaluated, and player is increasing even now. Moreover, it has attractive game system of (Maximum)four on-line and off-line simultaneous co-op game play.

There is a "5pb International", but the ones who dealt with the international release was a company called "Strangely Compelling".

Story of my life. Finishing up my finals on my side, I study with GAF open (dem good study habits, but I've been acing everything so far sooo, it works) and I have my Vita right beside me staring at me, waiting for me to put my C++ notes down, and play some Akiba's Trip... sigh.

why is there not any shaky cell phone camera footage from the gamescom floor, I would love to see som "frozen synapse:prime" and "Flame over", is the show not open for the masses yet?

I see. I can't say I blame you for selling it for that price. School Mode has its fair share of detractors but I thought it was compelling and a nice change of pace from the standard game.

Welp, the one place where the audience wants Vita news seems to not be getting it. Yoshida says TGS is very important to PS4 this year: http://www.famitsu.com/news/201408/14059136.html

That kind of confirms some suspicions I've had.

Ha XD! Of course they are giving the Vita the shaft once again, even SCEJ HATES the platform XD.......what the f*** X(.

I get that the PS4 really needs to be kicking for JP support....but two shows in a row they are ignoring the Vita, NOW they are going to ignore the platform in the only region where it is being successful?

....Well, at least we will get some news out of JP publishers who care about the platform :l. Maybe we will see Persona 3 Vita or something :D; I think P4G did well in JP, so that could sell well :).

At least.....at least we know now that Gravity Rush 2 (or whatever it is called :l) is on PS4 now :(. Granted....that isn't a bad thing, just like Tearaway Unfolded, the series getting a bigger audience on PS4 + all the features the DS4 has make the game a good fit on the platform. It is also important to keep in mind that the Gravity Rush 1 was originally a PS3 game and that the touch/gyro controls hindered the game in some ways (the Gravity Slide didn't 100% work well :l), so......the game will be a good fit for PS4 at least.

Even in JP Sony doesn't care about the Vita...talk about messed up X(.

I'm a bit polarized on the whole lack-of-Vita dialogue. I understand from a business standpoint, those precious minutes during a company presentation really should go toward the big ticket console that is newer and is poised to make the company more long-term profit. So, I can see why the Vita got a seat in the back row.

I like my Vita bunches and I'm excited for a lot of the games coming to it, I just think the attitude surrounding it could use another look -- the situation with it isn't that bad.

Vita didn't get a seat in the back row. It got thrown out the back door.

Did it, really? It's a 3-year-old device that -- although wonderful -- came into itself during a generational window. It makes perfect sense to me that Sony isn't mentioning it, putting all of its guns to the PS4. Vita is still getting new games. Vita is still getting sales. Vita has a dedicated base of fans (myself included) that enjoy what it has to offer, and look forward to the games coming out for it in the near future.

Just because it didn't get a mention during an event where it was never meant to be a focus doesn't mean it's out the door and dead forever. I think it's a slow-burning beast of a console that has its own niche, much like the PSP did.

So where are all these new first party games?

So first party games dont count?

I don't see any retail first party game for next year that isn't already out in other region.

So you're inferring that me saying "new games" means "first party titles." I responded with a thread extensively listing games that will be seeing release in western regions. It's got many different games that I would consider new to the console itself, though you are correct that a lot of them are not first-party to the console, or are available in other regions at present.

What is the point you're trying to make in your response? I'm not quite sure what you're trying to say. My original point is that the Vita is still getting new content, now and in the near future, hence the hyperbole that it's an ignored console doomed to obscurity should get another look.
