How does this happen, how the fuck does this happen. And how the fuck is only one major news channel covering this. 24 hour news stations were literally made for this!

Was the first part of the show live?

I'm currently seeing a re-broadcast of her earlier show, but I could have sworn there was a live bridge between Chris and Rachel when the show began.

Yeah, I believe I'm listening to a rebroadcast of a show played earlier today?

I can't believe CNN isn't all over this. This shit could be better than the Malaysia flight for those assholes

They want to cover these things from both left/right positions, and the right wing response is white nationalism, but they don't want to portray them as they really are so they'd rather say nothing.

Yeah, I'm going to call it a night. One of these responses (Smeared1) cut me way too deep. I sincerely hope none of these people ever find out what it's like to live their lives in constant, imminent fear that authority figures will kill them over a slight misunderstanding.

Then don't look at his history of YouTube comments. https://www.youtube.com/user/Smeared1

Thugs get ting shot never gets old!!!! Keep it up, Obama is losing votes with every shot!

The first part was live. She was contrasting the LE response to the Bundy stuff with the response to the peaceful protesters

During the madness (car chase, shoot outs, etc.) in Boston the 24 hour news stations didn't even cut in until like four hours into it. Streaming local Boston news stations and twitter was the only way to find out anything. And that's a major city where they all had reporters on the ground because of the bombing earlier.

“We've had protesters, like the last few nights, who are unwilling to listen tonight,” Chief Belmar said earlier. Belmar praised officers for their restraint in the face of another tense night. "To maintain that restraint, it is, frankly, remarkable."

These guys just don't get it. In fact they're incapable of getting it.

HBO was running a documentary on Nixon this weekend and the dubya like inability to recognize that what he did was actually wrong was astounding. That's what I hear from this police chief.

Fundamentally, these guys probably don't believe that the shooting was wrong, so how could they ever believe people protesting it are justified. They are so fucking afraid of the people that it's like the police are in the grip of a persistent mania. Their mindset is terrifying.

In Wst and Sth Chicago after a gang shootout you get:
Helicopter
Police (Some numbers are fully decked)
ATF
SWAT

All on one crime scene, every-time. So that's an extreme contingency for an extreme place. I wonder what's the contingency (now and future) for every police force militarizing?

This turned my fucking stomach.

To echo some people here I've heard nothing of this incident outside of GAF aside from the progressive radio station I get in my car. My facebook is barren when it comes to this and I have no intent to bring it to people who I know have no care for it.

Because it isn't our country. The last thing you want to do is split your own country. Believe it or not (and trust me, it's hard to believe it), there are people in the US listening in on this, taking the side of the police. Obama has to take a side, but it isn't easy to do so without splitting the country and making things worse. He's already made comments on it, but there is too much to go through to make a full speech, and even more to tell the cops to stop.

I guarantee you that if Obama talks about this strongly people will use it against him. They will say he is speaks up/only looking out for African-Americans and why doesn't he stand up for ALL Americans not just African-Americans. I have some old friends who talk like this.

Police Chief claiming that protestors using bombs?

This guy is the biggest scumbag ever.

Isn't a molotov cocktail considered a form of a bomb? Also what is the actual incident rate with stuff thrown/exploded from protesters? I bet it's still really small.

I don't know if this has been posted here yet but I found these series of tweets from Nate Silver to be hilarious. For someone who seems as smart as he does he sure came off as a gigantic idiot tonight.

Did he actually say that, or did you just mentioned how the mine-resistant cars were there to protect in the case of bombs?

I'm not watching anymore, just reading twitter.

I was just watching MSNBC and he said "People are using bombs now...pipe bombs, so forth"

The question was what was the need for a mine resistant vehicle.

When will people stop using this as an excuse for Obama's frailty? Like does his term have to end or what.

Don't want to turn this topic into Obama bashing, just saying he can say and do a lot more than people give credit. He's just not that kind of person and it's making things worse.

You're not alone in that feeling but I guess we'll just have to wait until we see what he says to say for sure.

Funny how people keep using that tired excuse though. He didn't seem worried about homophobes when he announced support for LBGT rights (and firmly restating it time and again). He didn't seem worried about racists when he did so for immigration rights. Didn't seem worried about overzealous nationalists in announcing support for the Arab Spring. But no, this is the red button he can't touch with a ten-foot pole.

Ridiculous.

Your old friends suck.

On topic though: the people who would go that route are already messed up and long gone, and there's no reason to live in fear of their opinion. African-Americans ARE Americans, and he has actually done more standing up for other groups in America than he has for them.

So your old friends are actually saying they only want him to speak up for Americans who aren't black, which is a decided un-American and inhuman thing to want. Luckily for them, and to the disappointment of others, Obama has done that for a long time now since becoming President.

He can still change that.

ATF, I have yet to see ATF here. I've been to many of the shootings and never seen ATF show up. And you're lucky when you get the police chopper show up, usually it's at the lakefront.

Looked everywhere, no evidence that people were using pipe bombs. If someone else can provide a picture or something.

Is there a live stream for this?

I started watching a live stream right when things got real, the guy was just recording some people peacefully protesting and the cops came at them for no reason shooting rubber bullets and tear gas, shooting it into peoples yards that were not even in the streets involved in the protest

It looked like Iraq, you could see people running the journalist were running with cameras

Yeah, it's not like he has anything else on his plate. Shame the DoJ isn't investigating, oh wait.

He said it in an off-hand way to quickly dismiss the question - like a hypothetical about what "people do" these days - not that bombs were actually being used in these protests. That was his attitude as I read it though and maybe he didn't mind if people thought that was an actual risk at these events.
