It only matters if Brown reacted poorly because he though he may get arrested for the robbery. Him randomly attacking the cop for jaywalking is insane, while him fearing arrest is a little less so.

It possibly provides a motive for attacking, escaping, or attempting to steal a police officer's weapon. I don't know what the current story from the police is, but Michael thinking that the cop knows he is robbery suspect would be relevant.

I don't believe any rational people will be convinced this young man deserved to die due to his theft from a convenience store. There will always be stupid people who think otherwise, or are racist, or whatever.

But you can't expect the police to just pretend that incident didn't occur. It had to come out as it's part of the story of that day, and hopefully we get a fully accounting of that officer's actions that day as well. I believe we will.

There is nothing official except "multiple shots"

Someone asked the type of weapon the officer carried, it was a sig sauer .40S&W holds 12 rounds. I have heard 9 shots fired but that is unconfirmed.

Brown was shot running away then shot several more times while surrendering with his hands up. He was not killed in any sort of attack, he poses no threat when he was murdered.

If he knew he just committed a crime and thought the officer was coming to arrest him for it.. It gives him a motive to resist arrest

Not agreeing with any side here.. Just stating why the video was posted in addition to smearing the victim

Well, it kind of has. The FPD state that Brown assaulted the officer. The friend originally claimed Brown was just walking away and shot when he turned with his hands up. Then he said the officer actually reached out the window and grabbed him by the throat (iirc). The logistics on that for a 6' person, unless he's leaning over, seem odd. The friend then claims Brown ran and encouraged him to run. He stopped when he was shot and was shot multiple times upon turning around with his hands up.

I think there's some truth somewhere in what the friend is saying, but he hasn't been exactly consistent.

The one that says he couldn't possibly have been running? That his pants were too low and he was wearing flip flops? Seems not very credible given there's now at least 2 people that said he was running. These different claims are a defenses best weapon as they'll use them to discredit whatever testimony they don't like.

Reading this thread for a while, a lot of assumptions going on in here.

Hopefully the community doesnt faulter and will continue to put pressure on the local PD, fbi, and governor so we can get the truth about what happened.
 
Even if he struggled with the officer at the car, eyewitnesses said a shot went off and then he ran and hid by a car. Put his hands up, and surrendered. Killing him at this point is murder. If these are the facts, all other points are purely dog whistles and irrelevant. It is murder, plain and simple. Had the bullet fired in the heat of the moment hit him, then you would have an argument.

Shooting someone to death when they have their hands up is not kosher, doesn't matter what preceded it.
 
OMG so we've come full circle to the original jaywalking story!

Holy shit these officers need to do some time in jail. I bet they are telling their wives all the innocent policing they are doing, too!

This is true, I can see that happening. Of course, earlier someone was saying that one of the witnesses said the car door slammed back on the cops head which could also explain the bruising. Hopefully a medical professional and the autopsy can piece together what actually happened during the altercation.

Either way, AFTER that, if he shot him in the back, then shot him again while his hands were up facing him, drove away, and left him in the street for hours, none of that is justified, and should not matter when justice is served.
 
This is a sad, sad story. And I hope the family of the victim gets some justice. And I hope the Ferguson area police get some serious reform.

But I find it hard to get too interested in these stories when Putin is rebooting the cold war, the ISIS jihadis that are so crazy that Al-Qeada can't deal with them have taken over nearly 1/3 of Iraq, Israel bombs 3 UN schools, and Ebola is out of control.

Man . . . what shitty summer for 2014. I hope things can calm the fuck down. :-/

What did Dorian Johnson do illegally? Did he grab the cigars? did he push the shopkeeper? I don't see cops wanting to waste their time on someone who was just there unless they actually participated in the act themselves. Frankly I'm surprised they didn't charge him just to screw with him considering things.
