Already, actually going to go to sleep soon, but to get more specific with the questions: assuming this is real, how do you guys feel about each revealed newcomer? (Bowser Jr. / Duck Hunt / Dark Pit / Shulk)

Bowser Jr: Awesome but weird. The fact that he's not in MK8 but might make it to Smash is just so crazy.

Duck Hunt: Yes!

Dark Pit: Yes! x10. Pittoo is an awesome character. He's on the same boat as Lucina as far as I see. A former alternate costume that plays differently enough from Pit that he was turned into a full fledged character in the end. At this point in time, I want to get greedy and actually hoping Hades makes it in as well. After all, there's no such thing as too much representation for the best 3DS game ever

Why does the bottom screen show cpu levels when they're color coded instead of grey? Also Ness doesn't look right, his eyes aren't that round. They're more long and pointed at the edges, that fake Ness picture that was made a really long time ago is more convincing looking.

Also, just the nature of this "leak" is suspicious. I'm pretty sure if someone was to receive a legitimate copy of the game, would they really be so cryptic when leaking information? Every time crap like this comes out it's always these angled, blurry cellphone quality shots, and this thread has already pointed out some things wrong with the photos that I can agree with. I'm sure a legitimate leaker would take the time to at least show video footage or at least try to take pictures of gameplay rather than things that can easily be mocked up or photoshopped.

The mention of DLC is a little off-putting as well. For some reason I highly doubt DLC characters are even going to be a thing. There's just a general inconsistency when it comes to DLC characters in fighting games that provide a level of unfairness. The ability to unlock characters with your only option being through buying them instead of having them freely available to everyone doesn't sound too great or sound like something Nintendo would even consider. Besides, who the hell would pay money for characters like Ice Climbers and Wolf? If there was DLC, wouldn't they put up brand new characters that are worth paying for rather than veterans that weren't too popular?

I have an account. Says the only ones he leaked are the ones with NEss and the roster pic. The rest are from someone else.

Mario Kart 8 is getting free DLC. Fire Emblem got free DLC.

Also Mario Kart 8 is getting additional content via amiibo.

In the leak we see that the player icon HAS thickness (Bowser is thicker than cpu 2 and 3) because he is being selected. 2p in the vid didn't change his thickness when hovered or selected!

From what I gather you can opt to connect and fight other players or go solo free for all.

right.. and solo free for all is what the video linked with changing line thickness shows. While your video connects to fight other players.. I don't understand. Maybe it's just late but now you've seemingly said the opposite of what you said prior. This would indeed separate those two multiplayer modes and could be why we see the difference in UI.

However, the order of characters never changes. Each character is asigned a number to say which order they go in and when you unlock someone they slot into their designated spot eventually shifting icons around until it all lines up. Note that the first seven icons never move because they are already in their designated spots (1-7).

This leads to a problem with the leak roster. Yoshi and Rosalina.

They are the wrong way round. Rosalina is a Mushroom Kingdom rep whereas Yoshi is a Yoshi rep. Even if there are more characters to unlock their positions relative to each other is fixed. It's an odd oversight by the leaker, but I doubt Sakurai and co would make the same mistake.

The dog comes from an NES launch title called "Duck Hunt". It was an NPC to the player-character who would scare up ducks for the player-character to shoot, and became infamous for enraging players by laughing if you miss the duck or ducks on screen.

Bowser Jr.: I wouldn't be too mad, honestly. I absolutely love him, and wanted him in as a newcomer. But the Rosalina came and it just made me not want him in, because of the many Mario reps.

I mean, I would hate it and love it at the same time.

Duck Hunt Dog: Absolutely happy! Why? Because I finally get my retro revival character that i've been asking for. Plus it could come with a pretty whacky, unique playstyle.

Lemmy Koopa in the Koopa Klown Car would take up as much space as Morton Koopa Jr. in the Koopa Klown Car.

Let's say that they replaced Dark Pit, Lucina, and Dr. Mario with Lucas, Wolf, and Ice Climbers - characters that would take far more effort to bring from Brawl to Smash 4, leading to delays. Characters being relegated to DLC would indicate that they did not have the time to include them in the initial release. Adding Dark Pit, Dr. Mario, and Lucina is relatively effortless.

You could say the same thing about Luigi or Lucina. Just because they're based on another character doesn't mean he's not unique. Pittoo has his own personality, quirks, and story is ridiculous to say he's just a palette swap.

I'd love for this leak to be real (Shulk is all I need to be happy), but no, just no way these are real. There's way too many problems here, and it's laughable that all we get are horribly messy shots and 100% menu pictures.

I mean really, as mentioned, there's no space between the screens so yeah yeah it's taken with a capture card, and then there's the claim in regards to ESRB that "this is just taken by someone that's making footage to send to the ESRB!".................. but if any of this were the case, why the hell do we just get shitty cellphone pics? Whoever this "leaker" would be would easily have the means to provide clean screengrabs, and of more than just menus. And that's even what they're supposedly doing at the time of these cell pics.

That's the thing. I would have agreed with "line thickness changing when players hover the coin over them". It is also applicable to the players, since the leak has the thick line at Bowser, the player 1 character. But in the vid I posted, that's not the case. 2P didn't have a thick line when it hovered on Villager.

This is really weird and seems to make no sense at all.
It turns it out doesn't make any sense and it's a graphical glitch.
When you're selecting a CPU character it will sometimes bold the top for no specific reason. How would the creator of the "fake" know this glitch would exist.
Now, here's the proof:

Took me forever to find one where somebody selects CPU. At first, I thought it was the last person selected that gets the bold, but it honestly now seems like it's actually a graphical glitch. Who the hell would make a fake knowing the game has a glitch like this. I can't help but believe the leak is real. OMG

Bowser is not being selected, kirby is. The local player always has a thick line so it follows that P2 wouldn't change thickness no matter what he was doing, the same way Bowser's line is thick despite selecting kirby.
