Football Thread 2014/15 |OT4| Did you see that Ludogorets display last night?

Torres is done. 2 years deal, 3.5m per year, free transfer, no severance. Somebody had to give up, apparently it was Torres.
There is absolutely zero chance he's just walked away from the (at least) £13.6m that remain on his contract. Your 2 year deal will pay him less than he was owed for the same period, lol. If he's leaving Chelsea, they've definitely had to pay him at least £10m to leave early. No doubt about it.

Do you want Rabiot?

At this point I would rather sign no DM than sign Rabiot. Sign someone next summer.

At this point I'm very afraid it's Rabiot or nothing. I feel it's too late unless we want Carvalho, which I'd rather have, but something must have changed Wengers mind on him. I'm also a little confounded we haven't been linked to any new CB's lately either.

Yo Meier! Thoughts on the OSU-FSU game tomorrow?

Haven't seen you in the CFB thread. You going to the game?

When they are talking about past champions do they not mean past Champions League winners? Else, the likes of Chelsea wouldn't make it because they haven't won the league in a while.

Just seems unnecessary and I can't imagine why the top clubs would agree with it, unless they don't have a choice.

It would be the 7 winners of the top domestic leagues + the winner of the previous year's Champions League. Obviously the 2nd place team from their domestic league would be input in place of them if there was overlap.

Ok seriously, what the fuck is it with Milan and getting players under contract for free. Fucking hell, you lot are a charity case!

oh my oh my

That's really too bad what happened to Torres, he was really one of my favorite players to watch while he was still at pool. When he transfered to Chelsea I thought his game would sky rocket, unfortunately it was a complete did.

Hope he makes it in Italy.

Chelsea definitely need someone else up front now. Too bad. I was actually looking forward to see Torres there for a few weeks at least.
I would've laughed so damn much :X

It's funny, the older I get, the less I pay attention in the offseason. Back in the day I was all over Warchant but now even with a sub ($100 for a year, but you got $100 of credit to buy gear), I've gone like 5 times since we won the title. You'll see me guns blazing (no OSU pun intended) though soon. My wife and I went on a big vacation to NY this summer so I opted not to go to the game since the tickets were $120. :( The Seminole Club here in town was chartering a bus and I hoped we could get on it once they put some tickets cheaper on Living Social but it sold out. Tried to drum up some interest from others to drive up but they passed -- it'd be too pricey to drive there and back and pay Jerry $60 to park on top of the game. Ahh well, what can ya do.

As far as the outcome is concerned -- it seems like most of the media are suggesting we'll walk away with it. Having seen you guys play here at UT a few times, I'm less inclined to expect a blow out since I know the team and fans will be fighting hard, but I do think we'll win pretty handily. Maybe by 17 or so.

That has been the line of thinking for years and it hasn't worked out.

My issue with signing Rabiot is even if he is shit Wenger will stick with him for a couple years and would be hesitant to bring in another DM because it was "block Rabiot's development"

Already accepted this season will 4th place.

Thing is, the alternative is being eternally "in the market" without actually getting anyone.

I'm so tired of successive summers of being linked with the Benders of the world.

Yeah but I'd rather have Rabiot than Flamini in there because you know Arteta isn't going to stay fit.

That's what came out yesterday/today. I really doubt Milan is going to pay that much if we end up keeping the money from Balotelli's transfer, every single deal that was set up the past few days (Torres, Biabiany, Van Ginkel, Taarabt, Soldado and somebody else I'm currently forgetting) was going to be a loan or a transfer with a really low fee.

Italian media reported that he was leaving for free and I haven't seen any fee anywhere, not on Sky, not on Goal. The latter one is now reporting that's actually going to be a two years loan: Chelsea paid the past two months of his salary, Milan is going to pay the next 22 months (not his whole salary though, just €3.5m).

True. Just have to wait and see I guess.

What lineup do you think we will see on Sunday?

----------Sanchez
Ozil Jack Rambo Ox
--------Flamini
Monreal Kos Per Debuchy

I would fucking love Bender. Still don't know why we never went back in for him.

We probably did and they probably said no. Why would they sell? They are in CL.

Guys if Sanchez goes on to score 25 goals playing upfront for us this season, I'll never question Wenger again.
Won't happen
. I'm willing to try out this experiment, I do however think a DM + CB is absolutely necessary.

Nah, sounds right. LFC have hardly spent any net, same with Chelsea.
Dunno, man.

£20m Lovren, £16m Balotelli, £25m Lallana, £20m Moreno, £4m Lambert, £20m Markovic, £11 (?) Origi, Can £10m... all adds up considering they only got £75m (#thefullamount) at most depending on if you believe Liverpool and less if you believe Madrid for Suarez.

Crystal Palace have made a move to sign Tottenham exile Zeki Fryers, Goal can reveal.

The Eagles want to sign Fryers, who is yet to make a single appearance for Spurs this season and has been informed he is not in new manager Mauricio Pochettino's plans, on a permanent deal.

First Dawson, now Fryers.

MoPo be praised.

we need a good DM.

We've basically spent what we got for our league position last year, and the money we got for Suarez

Could do with rushing a couple of players out the door and getting a better keeper to compete with Mignolet, or another DM. Overstocked in CB imo.

I still think Blind would be a good option. Can play CDM, CB and LB. If United don't want him and Ajax know they're going to lose him anyways, we should get him.

We need Carvahlo. I actually think this system can work, needs time however and especially the personnel at DM like you said.

Why the hell would you want Jack instead of Ozil in the CAM role

Because Wenger rates Jack and we've moved away from 4231. We play 4141 now, well we have every single game this season.

That's a bit of a high bar to set for man's first PL season, though?
