PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | September 2014

Picked up the Mass Effect Trilogy, too.

The price ($13.99 for the moment) was very good considering that you've got to buy the discs new (About $30 here in USA) in order to be sure about the codes.

Was I able to completely sort out whether I will be able to get every single piece of DLC listed in this IGN wiki? Not totally, but it seems pretty sure that I'm okay.

Here's what shows up on my Download List after purchase

-Mass Effect 7.0 GB
-Mass Effect 2 11.9 GB
-Mass Effect 2 Cerberus Pack 695 MB*
-Mass Effect 3 13.8 GB

* Connect now to receive: Zaeed, a lethal gun for hire who will join your squad, bonus armor and weapons, a series of vehicle missions, the Dark Horse interactive Mass Effect™ comic "Genesis" and more. Note: Full game also includes all of the contents of the Cerberus Pack.

And here's what additionally shows as free DLC on PSN

-Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer Collection, Rebellion, Retaliation, Resurgence, Earth, Reckoning
-Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut
Just so you know. The PS3 version and only the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2 already has most of the DLC included. It released a year after the 360 version so it included all the story DLC except Arrival which released after the PS3 version did.

Saw that someone had made a userscript that sorted the PSN download list while I was browsing the Vita subreddit.

I'll try it out for awhile and see if it's worthwhile.

I installed the script but it doesn't seem to be doing anything when I look at my download list on the site

So I was playing Borderlands 2 on the Vita and it really surprised me how well runs Bloodshot Ramparts after the patch. It's not silk smooth, but there wasn't problems like those reported by DF at release, with dips to 14fps. This was great.

Also I finally got the Trigger Grips. Now is so great playing this.

Need your advise VitaGAF. I wasn't planning on buying games for the Vita, just sticking to "PS Plus will give me enough", but to hell with that. I want to buy Injustice, MGS HD, and here is the question for the next one: I have only played Killzone 3 and Killzone: Shadow Fall, and I didn't like none of them. Would you recommend me buying Mercenaries? Or is there any other good FPS (I already have BL2, obviously)-

Mercenaries is the second best Killzone (after KZ2), I really like it.

I had to get in touch with them 4 times before I got my refund for a game I bought, the license for it stopped working and dit isappeared from my download list. Three of them told me I'd have to go through phone support (which I couldn't, because I work throughout their working hours). The fourth attendant was able to help me and give me my refund.

It took me 6h of my life. I spent one week sleeping 3h per night. But at least I got my money back.
Try online again if need be, and I hope you are more lucky next time with such a horrible, terrible costumer service.

Wow, that really sucks, I used to always be working odd hours, too so I know how that is. The amount of time vs time is money makes it more indignant. I've contacted them twice in the past for a refund and actually didn't have any problems... once on chat when a PSM game just flat out wouldn't boot up, and once on the phone when I tried to replace Metal Slug Anthology with just Metal Slug 1 & 2 on PSP (back when I had an 8GB card and was looking for ways to save space, but still have games I like on-hand), and they turned out to be unplayable (I hate using that word because I'm not a hyperbolic nitpicker about performance) from slowdown.

This one just went bad. I called them today and used a good chunk of minutes to do it, but she saw right away that Counterspy was bought on the 24th and that the promo was up to the 25th. We were both really nice and happy with each other, and she managed to get it straightened out. Said they're going to just redeem the $6 code for me, then put the $4 difference directly in my wallet for me by the end of the day/later tonight. I stayed on the line like she advised, and I figure that made them look at it now rather than just whenever they get to it. Even took less time to go in than she said, so I guess I got lucky on this call.

...picked up Velocity 2x + DLC, Don't Starve, Joe Danger, and the new Muramasa DLC... used the $12 (already had $2) in my wallet and paid $42. That's all I wanted to do.

Do yourself a favor and buy mgs hd collection i finish all 4 games that come with the collection and they are superb .a nice port indeed. Injustice suffers from a downgrade on textures but models are much better than mk .i have the retail versión and like mortal kombat komplete it has an excelent story mode.

Will do, man. I have the HD Collecton in PS3 though, but the idea of playing MGS2 & 3 on the go is what makes me buying it again. Are the trophies cross...achieved? with the PS3 version? I now it's cross save, but don't know about the trophies.

I can't stand the KZ series as a whole. I've played and beaten them all, and found them painfully mediocre, if not worse. But I bought KZ Merc on sale, and I love it. I really don't know what it does differently. But I had a blast playing it SP and MP. The botzone is great for a quick round or two if you are short on time. Plus it looks amazing.

Nope, separate trophy lists for PS3 and Vita versions.

I didn't get the tampermonkey script to work, but the insert code version worked.
Just go to your download list on the webstore and press Ctrl+Shift+J (Ctrl+Shift+K for firefox) and insert: $.getScript("https://repod.github.io/psdle/psdle.js"); and press enter.
Listing starts, and every item is clickable to bring you to their store page for download

I don't get why i spend more than $50 every month on vita games. Its basically the console that drains my money the most. And never in my life had so many games on one console in about 3 years. It took me almost 8 years to own the same amount of games in PlayStation one. I think it should be because vita is awesome and that's all haha.

Note: I'm so bad at rogue legacy I don't know if start the game from 0.

I don't hate the rest of the series, but I did have more fun with Merc... I think it's because the levels are tighter and smaller, it feels maybe just a step removed from earlier FPS that are more corridor based with some tighter firefights and different ways to go about things... something closer to Goldeneye/Perfect Dark, than a sweeping, set-piece driven game where a cool "real" location full of amazing detail is conformed into being a mission "map" - less messy, more readable imo.

Even better was the bookmarklet.
Just drag the "Run PSDLE" button to your bookmarks bar, then click it when you're on the download list.

You absolutely nailed it. That must be it, especially once you unlock the alernative missions. I haven't done a ton of them, but it certainly adds a ton to the package, further removing it from a regular run and gun shooter.

FREEDOM WARRRS LEEETS GO HURRY UPPPP

Part of me wants to buy Natural Doctrine even though I hate hate tactic games with a passion.

Oh, I meant there's a new episode tonight, I honestly don't even bother with licensed games unless someone I know recommends one.
Oh I see. Well then enjoy it!

I could not buy raptor RPG but I was too curious to not do that. Yep I did it. But for a few laughs and 1.2 dollars is OK haha. Well is actually a mess but its so weird is somewhat good in an odd way.

Is there anyone excited about chaos rings 3 or I am the only one? is there any chance square enix brings this to NA ? Or at least an international version with English subs ? I remember some Asian versions of the first 2 chaos rings where released with an English sub option if my memory doesn't fool me( in the app store)

When upgrading to a new memory card do you have to format the old one? How does it work?

No. Turn the system off, take the old memory card out, put the new one in, turn it back on, let it rebuild real quick, then start restoring from your back ups.

From my experience, if you want to transfer content, it's quicker to just transfer games and PS1/PSP save data (and pics etc) to your PC/laptop than to create a back-up of the entire memory card. Using a back up of the whole memory card profile can be useful, however, if you have a lot of physical release games installed, that don't always transfer as games to an HDD (I think it depends on if they save to the memory card, or if you've even started playing them yet).

I also like doing it from individual game back ups better because, since Vita/PSM/PSP/PSOne games are all split into different categories on the content manager, you can do a bit of it at a time instead of all at once. Staring at a 30-90 minute wait a few times is less annoying than staring at a 4-8 hr wait for the entire memory card restoration, and not being able to use your Vita for the whole day.

You only need to format the old memory card if you want to clean it up to sell it, and only need to format your new one if you bought it used and the seller didn't do it. Remember to select just the memory card and not the whole system, though.

I just beat the second chapter of danganronpa. Well it certainly wasn't as predictable as the first case lol. I'm enjoying the game overall but god the actual gameplay of the trials sucks. The story and revelations that happen during a trial are great, but yeah the minigames are just annoying. It's annoying when you know the answer and know what you're trying to say but the way the game works just makes it more frustrating than it needs to be. It's a far cry from the trials in Ace Attorney. Did the sequel improve in this aspect?

What's so bad about the trials? The only thing I didn't really like was the rhythm mini game but I eventually figured that out

White noise blocking your bullets adds nothing to the gameplay. I think just a spot the contradiction and give the reason for it would be better than a minigame like this. To have to go through a statement again because your shot got blocked just adds annoyance. The game doesn't even require thought here since the game limits the bullets you can use to contradict a statement so really it's literally just a minigame rather than makng the player come to the logical conclusion on their own. The comic can be annoying because it's not always clear what each pic necessarily represents exactly and it's easy to know exactly how the scene went but choose the wrong pic. The ryhthm game sucks for obvious reasons and adds nothing of value.

I've gotten used to things but I just feel the game would have been better removing the minigame aspect and being more about the coming to the right conclusions based on the evidence and showing your reasoning for it. It's definitely no Ace Attorney gameplay wise.

When I replayed some of the trials I started to like the rhythm mini game, but the comics are still awful

Seriously? Ace Attorney's gameplay is so barebones and full of "Oh, you presented this thing that is exactly the same as that thing? Too bad, I wanted that thing" that I wouldn't even compare the two, Danganronpa is way better gameplay wise.

Megaman X5 is releasing soon!

If you're still up for it, grab X4, it looks and runs great on dat OLED, and it's a decent 2D action game with some neat boss fights...if you choose to take the long way to beat them ;)

All three are already announced titles with no solid date and they've all been talked about here in the PSN thread at some point - all I'm saying 'til they announce shit.

No problem, at least we know there's something coming really soon. If I had to guess, I'd say the ones rated by PEGI, like Futuridium.

I have like 60 PSM games maybe i can recommend you something. What genre are you looking for?

As long as they aren't rpg, I'm good lol

I got all the ones given away(and yes, SCB is great) and tried Cytus Lambda. And I want to get Beats Slider someday just to complete the Futurlab collection.

You get the DLC for free alongside with the triology?

The Cerberus came free with the purchase and lists as a separate download on my purchase list.

The other ME3 stuff is simply listed as free on PSN and did not show up on my purchase list.

Just so you know. The PS3 version and only the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2 already has most of the DLC included. It released a year after the 360 version so it included all the story DLC except Arrival which released after the PS3 version did.

Thanks. I'm seeing Mass Effect Arrival listed for $6.99. (Indicating that I haven't purchased it.)

Without spoilers, is it an essential DLC if I intend to play the story from One to Three?

Big Ace Attorney fan here and I have to agree. The DR series is the superior one.

This thing and That thing always threw me for a loop if only because most of the time This thing is what should logically follow the conversation and That thing is what they wanted. Sometimes it'd be weird for me and the characters would make a bit of a leap in logic in order to get the point across which would have me scratching my head going "huh??"

Anyways slowly playing DR1 for the first time. These monocoins, are they rare and you just get it from being OCD investigating everything?

No, arrival doesn't really add much. Only piece of DLC I skipped for my Playstation playthrough. Make sure you get From Ashes, Leviathan and Citadel for ME3, the first two are pretty essential story wise and Citadel is a nice farewell to characters.

Started DR2 and Gundam Tanaka is becoming my favourite character.
So loud, so HAMMY, I love this series. ...and the eng. dub~

The gameplay in Ace Attorney is hell of a lot more involved than Danganronpa. Which is something I was told before I bought it, but still. True that occasionally does happen, but I can overlook it because at least thought and reasoning is required generally. In Danganronpa it even highlights the exact points of possible contradictions just in case you aren't smart enough to see it yourself, and it limits the evidence you can use in relation to it, making it all just require little to no thought. When you get things wrong it's because of something about the minigame being poorly designed or laid out like tbe comics. It's possible Danganronpa gets more complex later though to be fair. But so far I'm not impressed with the gameplay.
