But enron said everyone already saw all of this that was part of the suspension.

Someone is trying to cover their ass on this.

TMZ said it as well. It was linked in their item along with the video.

An employee of the hotel -- which just shut down for good -- tells TMZ Sports he was working there at the time and says the NFL saw the elevator footage before imposing the 2-game suspension.

Somebody pull up all those mealy-mouthed quotes Ravens personnel were spewing after the initial suspension. Pure insanity, considering they all saw this video ahead of time.

TMZ doing God's work.

The backpedaling by the NFL and RG has been an absolute shitshow today. RG certainly saw the evidence long ago and was banking on the video never making it out.

RG and the NFL have no respect for the audience they cater to, disgusting.

If only ESPN weren't so far in bed with the nfl (and had some journalistic integrity) them we might actually get someone to investigate this further. Guess well have to settle for tmz and deadspin. Will be curious to hear Bill Simmons' take on this he straight up hates Roger.
Espn was going in on the nfl this morning for lying about seeing the tape. They aren't in bed here.

An addendum to the Ray Rice coverage:

Earlier this summer a source I trusted told me he assumed the NFL had seen the damaging video that was released by TMZ on Monday morning of Rice slugging his then-fiancée, Janay Palmer, in an Atlantic City elevator. The source said league officials had to have seen it. This source has been impeccable, and I believed the information. So I wrote that the league had seen the tape. I should have called the NFL for a comment, a lapse in reporting on my part. The league says it has not seen the tape, and I cannot refute that with certainty. No one from the league has ever knocked down my report to me, and so I was surprised to see the claim today that league officials have not seen the tape.

I hope when this story is fully vetted, we all get the truth and nothing but the truth.

Is it wrong to think that if TMZ only now got hold of this video that perhaps the NFL and Ravens hadn't seen it either?

This is by far the worst. It had around 800 retweets this morning.

I can't believe that there will be anyone who'll believe Goodell and his bullshit after he destroyed all the evidence in the Spygate scandal and told everyone to move along, there was nothing to see.

Dude is a straight up slimeball.

Well she did a have a role, what if her rag doll physics body damaged the elevator?

I mean it did file for bankruptcy, can't the casino sue them for irreparably ruining their image?

From NFL: Roger Goodell has announced that based on new video evidence that became available today he has indefinitely suspended Ray Rice

Ok, so if the NFL will add new punishment, maybe he doesn't come back and play this season.

Though, what the fuck? The NFL didn't see this video already?

It's probably wrong to think that. Goodell is a chump that only cares about the image of the league. I'm about 95 percent certain that they saw this video and assumed that they could keep the lid on it.

Fuck that guy. I hope he loses his job.

I get being happy that Ray Rice got his comeuppance, but praising the Ravens for running a risk-reward analysis after this latest TMZ video ramped up the blowback exponentially is hilarious. They didn't do this out of any social responsibility or to take a stand against domestic violence, they did it because keeping the past-his-prime running back on the roster officially became more trouble than it was worth.

I find it nearly impossible to believe the all-mighty NFL couldn't get the interior video from the police.

I still have no respect for the Ravens. Glad this happened, but it doesn't change the team's bullshit conduct the past few months protecting this guy and going out of their way to make it known that they think she was at fault as well.

I think the prospect of them not seeing the video and rolling with the 2 game suspension because they figured the video would never leak is equally as bad as seeing the video and still coming to a 2 game suspension. Also, its not like they didn't know he knocked her out when this story first hit. The alternative to him not knocking her out is her knocking herself out on some Fight Club shit.

Fair enough. I consider myself a casual football fan and don't know much about the inner workings of the league or history in circumstances like this.

I'm enjoying the massive backpedaling from the NFL and Ravens. There is no way that they didn't see this video before.

They got away with ignoring and undermining the CTE scandal, this too will just blow over because of US consumerism. The best we can get out of this is laughing at the egg on their face and little more. :(

Wow. Good the original suspension was laughable.

What bothers me even more, is that the NFL and other leagues still has this guaranteed money bullshit. Can we draw a line somewhere, that states something to the effect that if you beat your wife, or rape someone, or kill someone and are then released from the team they DONT FUCKING GET PAID. I mean seriously, how the fuck can anyone agree they are still owed money when they get cut for reasons like this.

So I have a question: is there any precedent for having Goodell removed from his position as commissioner should it come to light that the league attempted to hide the fact that they had seen this video?

What would that process be like? Would it be up to the team owners to move forward?

FYI, the NFL burned videos related to the New England Patriots spying on opposing teams and fined the head coach $500,000 and the Pats lost a first round draft choice. I'm sure they thought they could do the same here (i.e., keep the public eye away from the damning evidence).
