Destiny |OT2| The Last Guardians

Made the mistake of playing the first moon mission on hard when I was still level 6, so I had to face level 9 enemies. Lets just say, it was a real bumpy ride lol.

I made it to the
Temple, and managed to clear it of all enemies so that only the boss Wizard was left alive, but I just kept on dying and being sent back to the last checkpoint.
So I went back into orbit and came back down to continue the mission with the difficulty on normal.

Funnily enough, with the difficulty on normal, the misson then became too easy, or at least, I perceived it as too easy, since I was comparing it to what I had been facing before.

Not quite sure I get the story complaints. It's pretty easy to follow.

Stories were told to frighten children. People stopped telling those stories. The children are frightened anyway.

If that kind of writing doesn't win awards, I don't know what will.

Can't quite tell if this whole post is sarcastic, or just parts of it, or none, but anyway.

Yeah LOL I always thought that line was freaking weird and it confused the heck out of me tbh

this thread moving so fast! digital guardian edition worth the extra 30 clams? Or save some money now and just the regular disc version (on PS4)?

Most OP is probably going to be bladedancer, I think. They're basically just straight up DPS.

Most necessary is probably going to be a sunsinger warlock/denfender titan in equal parts. One handles cooldowns, the other can buff the party. Probably leaning slightly towards titan, not so much because of the skill trees themselves but just because there's probably going to be fewer titan players than warlocks.
Titan here, fuck magic when you can punch the bastards.

Woah metacritic is crushing this game:

http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-4/destiny/user-reviews

Is not a real issue.... Can't whait but I will be able to play this game in a week bacause i'm importing the Collector edtion -.-

some quotes from user reviews:

This game has a lot of repetition, and is boooring. All the missions are identical. Every mission looks the same...

All you do is grinding, grinding and grinding the same mission. Go to point A and kill wave of npc, then go to B and do the same thing.

The missions are very repetitive. Basic go to point A or B. Kill Something and all.

Bosses have just one move pattern, shoot. They don't react dynamically and don't have any special move. The game's boss design is absolute failure.

The game just feels like its on repeat it gets annoying you cant talk to no one its a antisocial game its just a mess this saddens me after all the hype reminds me of watchdogs flop

Terrible game. Played it for a bit and it was pretty bland. Nothing like borderlands which at least had some humor. The planetary missions are short and the gear is generic and unintuitive. Day 1 return.

So far every mission has been, "defend your stupid ghost against 200 bullet sponges!" The whole sort of fantasy meets sci-fi seemed great but in-game I see little of that.

How much is this true? Another case of too much hype? I mean this sounds really really bad. Is co-op much better than solo?

Is there a separate GAF impressions thread?

Me too, man. Well put.

That is a really fantastic way to look at it. As a newly resurrected guardian you really don't know any more than the ghost tells you. You aren't in a story so much as you are creating it.

I still understand why some folks don/t like it but I am loving it.

I played the Alpha and Beta so I am really excited to get past those levels to see some new stuff.

First I have to get off work...

I'm really glad it's not just me. I'm having a great time just tooling around and knowing that my playthrough will likely have all sorts of quirks that differentiates how my Guardian got to the Vault of Glass to anyone else's experience.

It's basically just some digital extras and $5 off the expansion (season) pass. I'd go with the basic version at this point.

Wow usually after a big release from a well-liked developer there's at least a week of honeymoon period before everyone gets hypercritical. Is the game really that bad? I was afraid it would be ultra repetitive after the beta and it seems like that's the case in the retail version. Disappointing if it's as repetitive and void of content as everyone is saying.

Well.. the point is to farm things.

I'm at 12 hours... 6 for story, 3 for strikes (but i did the one on earth like 4 times and the one on the moon at least 3), 3 for explore.. and I saw pretty much everything (Except the raid, of course).

Weekly things are just story mission with a modifier like halo skulls. So if you are afreid about being repetitive... yes, it is repetitive. But it's kinda what they were "aiming" for.

I know that it sounds like hyperbole.. but yeah. It's all true. It's not a bad game by any stretch of the imagination. It's just.... not great. The worst part are strike bosses. Goddamit bungie >_>

I say save the clams, if you're still playing in December and are really looking forward to the expansions, then get the pass. You'll only lose $5, or potentially not lose $30 if you end up getting burnt out before then.

I got a rare encoded engram. Does anyone know if their level is set when you pick them up or when you ID them?

It was mentioned earlier that it is when you ID them. I'm getting good enough gear for now that I'm hoarding engrams for later.

Titan here, fuck magic when you can punch the bastards.

ha, my fists are the magic.

Although I will be rolling warlock later.

I loved how the camera zoomed into his mask like it had an expression.

1 hour till I get to drive home for alien shooty fun!

I received my White PS4 Bundle at work today around 10:00 AM or so. I couldn't stand it sitting next to me at my desk all day without receiving any love, so I reserved one of my company's conference rooms and hooked up the PS4 on my lunch break. Having to update the system and install the game was a chore, eating up 35 minutes of my break, but I was finally able to get in and start playing. And this is what I was playing on.

Though nowhere near as gorgeous as my Kuro Elite, I thought it was fun playing on two simultaneous HDTVs. Haha!

Really not appreciating the grinding in this already, being one level off for a story mission and playing it solo is just an exercise in tedium.

If I create multiple characters, do all the pre-order goodies apply to all of them? Or should I make sure I'm happy wiht a character people diving into that stuff?

ok, I was almost getting a little mission apathy, then I got the to Moon on the quest to locate the
hidden temple
, got to the door

then

You have awoken the HIVE!!

brilliant mission

Just hit 20 while doing patrol missions on Venus for a bounty, I do like how even low lvl enemies still drop reasonable loot that caters to your lvl

Moon spoilers...
so why are we stuck with these Sparrows when the Fallen Pike vehicles are so bad ass?
. Its hard going back once you got to play around with one

Played a lot of Destiny over the last two days, made it to Venus. I love shooting things in this game but everything else is really starting to annoy me.

The repetition of 'deal with exactly 3 waves of enemies while I scan this' is almost unbearable. There are notable exceptions to the formula that I really like, but they only serve to prove how much better the rest of the game could have been.

I can see from the stores that a lot of the game in terms of loot and build options is hidden behind the level cap, so I'm going to keep going and see how that pans out but between the mission structure and the insane amount of loading times you have to go through just to identify an item or claim a mission reward, if this wasn't made by Bungie I would have uninstalled it already.

Yeah, I feel they had a better XP rate in the beta. The goal is probably to get people to fill the gap with patrols and bounties, but...

I would say yes, it is highly disappointing. It does same things very well and some things poorly. Feels half-finished. Gonna post my impressions soon. This is Bungie's first dud.

Fuck this, I've had enough. Server disconnects driving me insane >_<
Yeah I gave up about an hour ago. I'm all for grinding but not when it's because the server can't keep me in the game. I will only try finishing a mission so many times before I quit and play something else.

I did that about 10 minutes ago and so far it's my favorite one.

Is there a way to see which friends are playing a level. When I select a destination it tells me I have 3 friends there but I cant figure out how to figure who it is among the 30 people playing. Clicking on all their names cant be the method. right?
