servers are crapping out on me
I don't understand the headset that comes with the PS4. Do I even need it if I set voice to speakers only? I suppose this thing is an earbud, but it doesn't actually fit in my ear. It's too big and round to stay in place. Also, where am I supposed to be talking into, the speaker on the controller?
You can definitely over level yourself, but there are some points in SP where you'll need to grind one way or another.

I dont necessarily agree with everything he says, but I'd rate it a 4.5/5 as well. I've only played 6 hours but did work the alpha and beta too.
I really can't see the game sell 10 million copies with this repetitiveness and lack of "cool moments" to talk about.
My Xbox hates Destiny.
Completely failed to load Skype and struggles with any other apps in the backround.
Had my first freeze today too. During Destiny play.

For a game that is meant to be quite social, it feels very lonely. I've played the game for at least 10 hours since I bought it and I very rarely run into people out in the open. When you do, you can't talk to them unless they're in your party, and usually they are running off doing their own thing on a different mission. If you do happen to bump into someone doing the same mission, it's not long before they despawn out of your world as you enter an area thats more restricted. Oh and I've still not come across a public event.
The way Bungie talked about this game, it sounded like there'd always be someone over the hill, often coming across people trying to take down a tank, or defeat a huge swarm of enemies but I mean.. so far I've barely seen a reason as to why this gane couldn't be an offline experience.
So how do you form a fireteam, besides invinting friends from your list...is there any advantages to being in the GAFclan...? are the names of the people on the right when you are in the menu at the Tower in the GAFClan or just people there...? I left my fireteam open,at public, for 30 minutes and no one joined...how do you speak to people...I know about R3,so when they are highlighted I can talk to them through my mic...?
When people are running around in levels how do I get them to join my mission? Is the only way to send then an invite? Nobody has accepted so far.
1. You can't unless they are in your friends list (afaik)
2. No real clan advantages
3. Those people are in your current "instance", not clan related
4. I don't think you can speak to anyone unless they are in your fireteam.
This was my problem and why I've currently abandoned the story for PVP. For a game that is supposed to thrive on being social it boggles my mind that they make it so hard to actually group with random people
Mmmm ok so whats the open/public Fireteam for...? how do I know to join one that is open to the public...?
Hmm, so if you delete a character you don't get that player slot back......
It's an accelerated contradiction of the basic premise that the game holds: Becoming Legend. Think for a moment what that means in terms of the scope of Destiny.
I believe it means two things. For starters, it means going forth and forging your own tale, and the second meaning holds in it a world of these tales and their affects on each other. Legends, by their nature, are lonely tales. Interconnected, but alone. Three man fireteams may well be designed to emphasize that loneliness: three players, forging their own story together, who go on their lonesome to prove their worth or part ways soon after and never see each other again.
But for one brief moment, their stories intertwined.
Solitary tales in a sea of super-connected melting pots. A game that is simultaneously together and alone.
And it's fuckin' awesome, breh.
I wasn't going to buy this game.
I just bought it.
Welp.
I would argue the main problem is that the game doesn't lean enough in any direction. It just picks elements from the shooter genre, MMO, RPG, and such. However, it doesn't really excel at any of them. Yes, the combat is really good, but the encounters and levels just feel so meaningless. The bombast of Call of Duty has the spectable of finely tuned scripted levels, while RPGs feature deep storylines, ample character customization and gear. This has the bare minimum of everything, and it doesn't really work.
The first time I went through Old Russia, I didn't want to go to the cool looking places in the free roam, thinking there would be some cool story related stuff there in the missions and that I didn't want to ruin the experience.
But that never happened.
It amazes me how much work was put into these incredible vistas and locations, yet the missions and story elements themselves are more basic than even Diablo 3. Why not have some audio logs, NPC's - something - anything, just to give these worlds some depth or even context? Even running through a zone in World of Warcraft just oozes with adventure, mystery, a sense of discovery and history.
I think the best way to describe it is like I'm walking through the level in a level editor with all the scripting, NPC's and other elements turned off.

This is the biggest overreach to justify a game's faults since people were claiming Bioshock Infinite was purposefully linear, repetitive, and had no replay value because it was a "deconstruction" of video games.
No, you get a max of three but you add them one at a time. So if you delete a charac, you'll have one "+" spot. Then you'll make that dude/ette and if you went back to the charac screen, you'd see your new dude/ette and a new "+"
IIRC
When you highlight a player with an open fireteam, the "Join Fireteam" button won't be grayed out like it is for friends-only or private.
Would be nice if Bungie added the option putting an icon for "LFG" or "LFM" by your nameplate.
Yep. Would love to play this with my friend but... no split screen.
Soloing it is pretty tough... high enemy count in a lot of encounters.

Whops. was thinking about getting this, dont rly like shooters but then my finger slipped and I bought it digital..
Cross my thumbs I will like it, havent used my ps4 for anything but watching movies the last 7 months or so, time to get back to buizness.!
I had 3 free spots at the start tho (unless I am going mad).
p. sure there's only one "+" at a time.
