It started off promising with Little Mac's wire frame and hoodie.

Then we started seeing palette swaps like 'murica Mario...and more recently the pseudo Fierce Deity Link.

After seeing these scans, it looks like most characters will just be getting different colour schemes.

What happened?

Did they give up? Run out of time? Decide to withhold actual alternate costumes as DLC down the road?

Who knows!

He's ex 1up.com staff that was absorbed into the giant gelatinous IGN blob and actually stayed. Actual nintendo fan, and is great. Basically a new (relatively) addition to IGN. He's great.

Wow Namco must have cracked down hard on Pac-Man's colors. All his alts are just random colors added to his gloves and boots aside from the polka dot one. At least with Sonic they change his shade somewhat.

Actually got laid off during the 1up.com and IGN move. Got rehired to take over Nintendo coverage after Audrey Drake and Richard George left to take various positions at Nintendo.

I know other people will like it, but I really don't like that all of Lucina's swaps change her hair color.

Neither do I. It looks like I'll just be sticking with default for her.

Also, that second Falcon color... is that the black one from past games? When I look at it from far away it looks black but when I get closer to the screen it looks more dark purple. Anyone else notice that?

Dr. Mario, Lucina, and Dark Pit all started off as alts, plus there is still Wario and Bowser Jr. who we know have alt costumes.

I think this is a pretty good selection all around, although I agree that I wish some characters got better options. (Ex: Lucario)

I saw the winged boots from Pac-Land on one alt!
