Just thought I'd mention the mock CSS promo art thing in Famitsu follows the same order as the leaked CSS except for two things

1. Miis are next to Sonic, they weren't in the leaked CSS at all
2. Lucina is in the same row as Shulk and the third parties

The latter might imply the clone corner gets moved down to the final row and the proper unlocks to do so were not unlocked yet.
Lucian can't move up as more characters are unlocked, as there are no unlockables between her and shulk.

Dark Pit is already a clone, even in his original game. He's also stuck in the clone corner, with Lucina and Dr. Mario. He's a clone.

Either he's a clone, and he'll be unnecessary, or he'll have a unique moveset, in which case that's even worse because the development team will have spent time trying to distinguish Dark Pit from Pit instead of adding another character.

I agree with this.

And to push Clone Corner™ to the bottom row, three non-clone characters would have to be added. That would then leave two (or one if Miis are a slot) clones left to complete the rectangle.
