Actually, taking this leak at face value, it makes perfect sense IF Sakurai wanted a Pikachu clone like Pichu was. You can't do double/triple characters like IC and CK on 3DS, so the next best thing is Emolga. Her design is much better than Pikachu's too. Just need to add in some squirrel like gliding and we set.

And if anyone has seen how DKJR moves in the arcade game, you know he won't be a clone. A rather unique choice even.

Just thought I'd mention the mock CSS promo art thing in Famitsu follows the same order as the leaked CSS except for two things

1. Miis are next to Sonic, they weren't in the leaked CSS at all
2. Lucina is in the same row as Shulk and the third parties

The latter might imply the clone corner gets moved down to the final row and the proper unlocks to do so were not unlocked yet.
Lucian can't move up as more characters are unlocked, as there are no unlockables between her and shulk.

Miis were the missing character confirmed!

The weapons that Pit uses in Smash are not the ones that Pittoo uses in uprising is what I mean. They could of also just given him different uprising weapons anyway. All I am saying is that there are ways not to make him a clone.

Well if that's the case, then they could've made an effort making a character that would at least look visually distinct. Dark Pit being unique is worse than Dark Pit being a clone. Dark Pit is literally a clone in Uprising's story, and really shouldn't be in Smash at all, other than an alternate costume with changed voice clips.

Sometimes you have to stop and realize that Sakurai has a dark, evil side, and is kind of a bad person at times. Pikachu is already enough Pikachu. We don't need Plusle, Minun, Pichu, Pachirisu, or Emolga. We don't even need Raichu.

Emolga could be a really neat character, really. Electricity is such a fun element in Smash Bros., what with its added hitstun, and Emolga could be a cool, agile, flight-based character. It would be kinda silly to add it if gliding is truly gone, though.

It's probably a combination of Gematsu and the RH enemy in Smash Run. Ridley has become a running joke by now, but Chorus Men/Kids are still seen as having a chance.
