RIP in peace. Wolf and Mewtwo have been the only characters I've cared about when they've been cut. Didn't really care too much either way about Roy, Pichu, Dr. Mario(im glad he's back though), Snake, Ivysaur, Squirtle, or Lucas.

Wolf better come back as DLC. I still don't understand why TLink came back when they had to nix characters like Wolf.

Character Trophies are only attainable from Classic/All-star mode, so a character acquired from the would probably not be a playable character..

Why would it be? The leak also have All-Star with the lock symbol, which has been confirmed to suggest that not all characters are unlocked. I think there's most definitely more character to unlock.

Well, the All-Star mode from the leak could've been from a different save, a different build or even taken by a different person with a different copy than the CSS, since it was all from a video compilation, and there's nothing that suggests is was all taken from a single system in a single save state.

There's also the fact that the Japanese commercials say there are "over 40 characters", and the leaked roster is 48 characters. I guess there's room for 1 or 2 characters more if you don't count the Miis, but that's the best case scenario.
