so after paying full retail I need to pay for the expansions to find out there's more doors to hack? no thanks they did a poor job for a retail product.
 
Anyone want to team up for some Salvage? 3v3 games tend to work better with proper teams, also matchmaking just failed me epically =p
 
going to be playing some strikes / heroic missions in about half an hour

My spare mic is broken so won't be able to use the mic until this evening.

Levels don't matter PvP since all damage gets equalized. I don't have any lag at all, I'm on PS4 wired tho. I agree about the matchmaking tho, sometimes I gotta wait like 2 minutes for a match. (It shouldn't take two minutes with how many people are playing this game.)
 
What's it like after you hit level 20?

Is it like diablo 3 where the game really starts up after you hit the top level and you start grinding for equipment?

Levels sorta do matter since high level players will have more options with their skill tree and more gear with modifiers.

I thought this was known?

You can shoot the legs for Critical hits, but you can also destroy the Missile Pod mounted to the side of the turret. It stops the 4-shots at you.

Oh, also, I recommend doing the Daily Heroic Story Mission on the highest difficulty you can manage because unlike the strike, you only get rewards once period for it x.x Earlier I was like "We'll do level 20 then jump to the next and get more stuff".... Nope.

Last night I was running patrols in Venus and finally came across a public event that was not on Earth! There were 5 other people in the area and everyone rushed over to be a part of this one. We had to defend a station against incoming Vex that wanted to destroy this structure for some sort of religious sacrifice or something like that. Intense as hell. By the end the screen was filled with Elite mobs. Glimmer and orbs were raining down like candy. Everyone was blasting away with their Super attacks and throwing down rockets like rain but we still came out with a silver. Those damned enemies with the shields that rotate around are tough little SOB's. There were 2 of them on screen along with atleast 5 elite minotaur enemies and atleast a dozen lesser mobs all over the place popping shots off.

Crazy fun. Bungie really needs to turn up the dial on these things as the randomness and epic nature of them lend very well to the game. Very nice change when they do occur.

yes and no.

yes. it's embarassing when a much touted project falls flat of delivering a superior experience compared to exsting franchises.

no. because Destiny is not a 60$ retail game. It's more of a 150$/200$ game. and it's more of a digital game. one you want to have on your hard drive at all time.
Even under Activision, I think the marketing team has been reasonnable in how it presented the game. In the commercials it's more about the team work, the friends, the fiends and the action than the boombastic story driven campaign.
As far as the Lore is concerned. It's so-so too. There is a ton of lore. It's just presented in-game, subtly, or via Bungie.net.

for example, do you know many games that introduce MP gametypes through factions when said factions have a satisfactory reason to promote deathmatches? Halo tried it with the computerized training thing but I think Dead Orbit launching Guardians in order to gain control of remotes places makes more sense and is a funnier (thus superior :-) take

I do expect both the matchmaking (full fireteam as default is a requisite IMO. ATM the game suffers from ODST firefight no matchmaking level of missed opportunity) and the lore exposition to be much improved by the time Destiny 2 hits.

If you look carefully at the lore, although it requires attention to learn it, it's very cohesive. much more so than Halo or other franchises I think. especially for a game 1.
 
LOL! I can't believe how terrible i was last night. I normally play FPS on PC with KB/M but last night i just couldn't get comfy with the controller whereas the night before i was fine.

I need to git gud with 'troller :(

What sensitivity are people using? I'm on 3 or 4 as on 5 i keep missing by inches. It's the weekend so i have time to practice at least :)
 
I really wish the clan process would get fixed. One of the best things about GAF is that we are a community that works together so a game with clans is perfect. What is not perfect is how this has been handled. In the clan thread (which nobody really reads other than the people applying and the good admins that are approving) there is plenty of discussion about how NA East 2 and 6 are not being administered (for PSN). The admins have not turned it on and do not answer messages. So people (like myself) that are in the Primary clan have cancelled our regional group to try and join another (mostly East 7). With 2 and 6 being abandoned that leaves up to 150 GAFers without a clan which is a shame. Messages have been posted in the Clan thread as well through the Primary GAF messaging on Bungie but there hasn't been any response. This is a game that requires support to succeed. If anyone on here has any influence on this or can provide some type of answer I would appreciate it.

Nah, I think it's just the enemies with yellow names "Exalted ____" etc. Really struggling to find any Fallen ones. The tank and big purple eyeball thing in the Strike mission count, but it's really time consuming doing those and there's no guarantee I'll even get the killing blow on them.

Also, to anyone wondering if the Paul McCartney song is even in the game? It is, once you've finished the game the Credits become available on the bottom right corner of the map screen and it plays then.

Shoulder bash to any silly Warlock who dare tries to melee me. I'm telling ya right now, people are gonna start crying about Titans who use the shoulder bash + shotgun combo. Shoulder bash almost always kills in one shot to a Hunter or Warlock, if not then the shotty finishes them off afterwards since the switch back to the shotgun is fairly quick.

Agility boost codex is insane too, I love the speed. I'll put up a video in PVP and show ya what I mean.

even in a "working" clan, you still need to find and enter all your pals PSN/LIVE IDs.
which is a major bottleneck.

now, if Sony/MS made it possible to copy/paste a huge ass list of people to add them to your friend list or Activision used some of that 500M/Day1 money to make building friends' lists easier...
 
Was able to run the Heroic moon mission yesterday solo without any problems. Fun as hell though. Was shocked in the end to get 0 reward from anything, not even an uncommon Engrem dropped throughout the mission.

Hopefully todays Daily Heroic is a bit more rewarding then that. Was funny because I was running through the mission with my lv. 1 Bladedancer trying to gain some xp lol. Switched back to Gunslinger though for the final battle.
 
Been sticking to PvE, stumbled into PvP last night just to get the "complete 5 matches" bounty.

4th match my team of randoms won (only one I won out of the 5 matches) and got a Blue Sniper Engram!!!!

My very first blue (I just got to level 15) and I needed a sniper badly.

If you are in a fireteam, kills from your buddies count for you too. Apart from like "kill enemies with precision shots" for example.

But my friend and I tried it out and stuff definitely shares.

So if you are on a level and go to roster it wont allow you to see clan mates in the game? you can still only see friends? what is the point then?

Where can you copy and paste friend requests for PSN?!
 
I think it's kind of ridiculous that you have to wait for the PSN invite page to load to send an invite in game (this goes for any game, not just Destiny). You should be able to just press one button in-game and send out an invite quickly.
