This isn't a matter of when it's easiest and best (for reviewers) to review a game. That's not my or your problem. (unless you are a game reviewer?) This is a statement that the traditional game review can only review "what's in the box at launch" is silly though, considering that I've read a few open ended reviews in my life and for some games, it's warranted to take such an approach. Such things exist. Set in stone reviews with firm numerical "ratings" are not always helpful, and are frequently a lazy proxy to sum up an initial opinion that may not even be relevant by the time I get the game. Even if it's on launch day.

You have excellent points sir. your posts are thoughtful and well reasoned. Things are changing. Reviews as we know them are quickly dying and I for one couldn't be happier. Gaming journalism for the most part is shit IMO.

I determine if I want to play a game through other means now. Twitch, Betas, NeoGaf, good old fashioned research, etc. I haven't trusted or put faith in the majority of the gaming press in years.

We've tried what help.bungie.net said with the errors when we got them (Canary and Marionberry) but nothing.

I can't play this game for more than 30 minutes without getting disconnected from the PSN. I got this on PS3 through RedBox and boy am I glad I did. Not touching this for at least another 6 months.

My buddy had the same issue. Have him do a hard reset/off on the console (hold down power button to turn off) instead of the regular standby. That cleared it up for him.

I have been completely engaged by this game, having a blast every time I pick it up. Played probably about 20 hours. I just took a look around the internet for the first time since I picked it up at the midnight launch...so much negativity.

Yeah, the game isn't perfect. But damn. My standards must just be so much lower. Life's great when your standards are lower I guess, because I think this game is awesome and it has literally given life to my Xbox One, and has brought a lot of my old gamer friends back to the scene.

I gotta keep out of that review thread at all costs, it kills my buzz.

If you're running instances without a sunthingy warlock you're doing it wrong guys. I'm unlocking the skill tree and the sun warlock super is pretty much an excuse to poop orbs all over the level. It's pretty great really, I make everyone go super and get orbs back to go super and reignite everyone else. It's a nonstop super train of death, it's pretty great really.

They're pretty common in Crucible rewards from what I've seen.

You know, I've got the game fully loaded on both PS3 and PS4.
I've been playing solely on PS4 but I wonder if the crowd is any different on PS3, since the gameplay isn't crossgen (while the characters are).

A lot of areas on PS4 seem more abandoned than they should be. I'm going to give PS3 a shot and see if they're a little more crowded.

I wouldn't say they're not up to the level of Halo. I put some of the strikes on par with certain Halo encounters. Campaign missions too.

Different strokes I guess. Maybe it's because I've played so much Borderlands that this doesn't feel quite as special (although the gunplay seems more satisfying).

Any review now most certainly justified. The game does not start at 20, the only thing you get from hitting 20 is the chance to do the same stuff over again except you take less damage and the enemies take more. The game starts when you start it. New events are not going to change how the game plays, it will just give you more of what you are already doing in the areas you have already been. The only thing that has a chance to be different is the raid but I seriously doubt that it will bring much of anything new to the table. At least it will be in a new area.

Isn't that the whole point of this game, and the whole genre even? Why do people play Diablo over and over for 500+ hrs? The whole point is to get better gear so you beat harder enemies, which drops even better gear and the cycle continues. If you're in it for story/campaign only you chose the wrong type of game.

Wouldn't it be awesome if this game added Clan Halls much like the original Guild Wars had Guild Halls? You could actually meet up with your clan mates in the hall and form parties, instead of finding them through the website.

You would also be able to upgrade your hall to add things like storage and merchants, and even choose which planet your hall will reside on. You could even set up clan vs. clan PvP matches!

That'd be cool.

So, why couldn't this game have a similar clan system to the recent StarBreeze Syndicate game? Anyone could invite you to their syndicate, you accept/join, then you could see an in-game list of everyone else in the syndicate. The list showed what map each member was currently playing, and if there was a slot open in their squad.

Again, this was all in-game. Seems like it would be pretty useful in Destiny...

It was kinda pointless to have them region-based.

It was a great idea at the time due to the very restrictive member limit. All the groups filled up like spreading wildfire, region based groups seemed like the most logical choice. Easy to find local people who would likely be playing at similar times to yourself. Mods that would be awake at appropriate times. Events could be planned in the proper time zone. It makes a lot of sense.

Now it seems a lot of members simply havent returned or dont have the game yet, so it's just a bunch of odd splinter groups. Some of which have seemingly gone inactive.

I'm in NA West which you'd think could muster up more than TWO Xbox members for the whole region, but here we are.

Not that it matters much to me since I'm on PS4.

I think they just need to re-consolidate. People from the numbered regions need to try and squeeze back down into the more primary groups. We have more groups now than are necessary but people went back to the same groups they were in during the beta.

There are 39 PS4 in NAWEST and another 17 in NAWEST2 and 38 more in NAWEST3. We have three groups when we only have enough members for 1 and a half. And that's not including all the people who crammed into the main DGAF header for some reason.

I've been concentrating on levelling up that subclass for Strike and Raids. It seems like it will work really great for things with a fireteam.

ARs are everywhere online, it's the most noob-friendly weapon to pick up to spray and pray. I prefer hand cannons, personally.

Also, what's the hype about fusion rifles? They haven't been working out too well for me in PVP.

I'd appreciate a restructuring, too. As an XB1 user, I'd much rather have console specific clans than region specific. I don't care where people live -- I just want people on the same console as me!

A PvP specific XB1 clan would be amazing. I don't care much about PvE, personally. It's fun, but Crucible is my bread and butter.

Have you tried the Crucible yet? Playing a match of control takes like 8-10 minutes depending how good your team is. It's probably the most consistent way to get decent gear, I'd say.

People have been bringing this up over and over and most people want straight up loot rewards benefits for performing better.. but I don't really like that idea. It creates a system of the rich get richer.

But a thought just hit me. What about gaining more Reputation for performing better? The Rep grind is going to be pretty long from the looks of it and even if you gain a higher Rep level, you're still barred from picking up the Vendor items too quickly by the Marks cap. Getting more Rep for performing better would be a nice way to reward people by making the grind slightly faster while not creating a direct Rich get Richer system.
