PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | September 2014

I'm almost shocked at how good looks castlevania Dracula x chronicles on vita. I mean . the intro feels like a native vita game. Everyone should buy this. I'm actually very surprised.

Are you in US, and has it always been Vita compatible?

It was on the Australian store for PSP only. It actually disappeared from the store. Man I want to play it again.

Edit: TotP Buy Spelunky, add me to friends and do daily challenges. Also buy Danganronpa 1+2.

To me that means the new GR game is PS4-exclusive. That doesn't surprise me given the way SCE views Vita, but that doesn't make it any less disappointing. Obviously I want the IP to live on, but I was really hoping for PS4/Vita.
Am i the only one that remember that tweet of a developer saying that he was developing a "sort" of sequel for Gravity Rush?
I think(i hope?) it's an extended port or a spinoff for PS4.
Could Sony be this stupid to make GR2 PS4 exclusive? Ok everything but i don't think so
waiting to be disproved

yo psm game
why you gotta fool me like that
such cute promo art:

Well the main character and those green things look the same, if you want to see a huge difference between art and game look at that infinite runner with a hell setting...

Flight World Simulator got released on Vita today via PSM. It's a mobile port, but seems pretty good. Has anyone played it?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNeP0gmS53o (old iOS footage)

Also over 1GB. ◑.◑
1GB?!?!?!? Damn!
It looks interesting though, a mix of Flight Simulator and Theme Park.

Holy shit. Am I stupid, or did they SEVERELY rape Alien Breed (classic mode) when porting it to Vita/PS3?

The music, the sprite work.. the SFX. It all looks like shit compared to seeing it on Amiga.. huge shame.

And what's with the giant HUD elements that are clearly designed for touch-screen only devices? Garbage. Fucking wasted opportunity.
Music and sprites are just the last of the problems, the real problem is the gameplay imo, the game was made for 8 directions joysticks with one button(walking on one direction and shooting in another one was not easy and most of the time you walk and shoot in the same direction), Team 17 updated it badly for 2 sticks and many buttons and added lots of ammos making the game extremely easy.

Not like they care. The Vita fanbase isn't big enough to make Sony feel like they have to appeal them.

I guess the only people who could understand this is Valkyria Chronicle fans. That was also a huge blow when they decide to move the platform from PS3 to PSP.

They cared enough when people in Europe complained that Freedom Wars wasn't getting a retail release, enough to rectify the situation a couple of days after it was announced. Gravity Rush 2 being exclusive to the PS4 will provoke the ire of Vita owners on a whole other level compared to that. I don't expect Sony will do much about it this time, I just hope they're prepared.

they are set on losing goodwill it seems. lol.

doing whatever they can to move PS4 units in Japan perhaps?
but would Japanese fans be happy? (lol)

The thing is, Freedom Wars is a game that's coming and it could hurt their sale. I don't know what Vita users could do when Sony announced GR2 being exclusive to the PS4. In Sony's eyes, they are not potential sale loss for that game.

Yeah, they're in full-on Good Guy Sony mode right now and determined to stay that way, which is why I have a hard time believing the sequel will be taken away from the Vita entirely. They're a savvy enough company to know this decision will cause a huge furore and not go down well, so it'll be surprising to see them go down this route.

so Unity will be free for all devs on Vita . That means we will get(maybe) some nice unity shooters (Dead Trigger, Shadowgun etc) but with two sticks. omg that will be so good.

I'll take those games on a device with proper controls. I can't stand playing those kind of games with a touchscreen.

I think they should have started to try and bring those games from day one. Those high end mobile F2P games with a traditional model and a retail version could have filled some gaps in the line up and sell decently enough. Sony could have done the publishing job or whatever.

Dude, Sony is in good guy mode for the PS4. They aren't all that commited for the Vita. I'd say they're more into "damage control" mode if anything :P

the thing is... I do believe they will actually go down this route.
especially with the PS4 fans who will join and support them and say VITA IS DEAD, GOOD RIDDANCE, YAY NO VITA VERSION TO HOLDBACK the PS4

and we already hear such cries on GAF.. so lol

Of course there are potential sales lost with such a move; there's way more at stake here than denying Europeans the opportunity to buy a physical copy of Freedom Wars. Ignoring the supposedly high attach rate of the Vita for a moment, Gravity Rush was part of the Instant Game Collection for well over a year, giving it tons of exposure to anyone who owned the system. I'm sure a great deal of people who downloaded the game purely out of curiosity enjoyed it and would happily put down money for the sequel. Is Sony really going to tell all those people "Fuck off, buy a PS4 if you want Gravity Rush 2"? Maybe they will, but they ARE going to get a major bollocking for it in the process.

Damage control, Good Guy Sony, you say potato, I say potahto. Remember that whole DriveClub episode some months back where upgrading to the full version still meant that you couldn't play the game without a PS+ subscription? It got fixed and it made Sony look good.

I mean potahto for PS4 and potato for Vita XD.

The difference I mean is that they're not trying to look for Vita userbase good will. They just want to not piss them off too much. That's why I called it "damage control". There is damage, but they're trying to keep it at bearable levels.

PS4 is effectively all #4theplayers and stuff.

Yes im in US(NA PSN) and as far as i can say it was always compatible. i bought it from the webstore then download it using the download list.

Don't do this to me. It's not playable on Vita in EU and not available at all here in Ireland!

Well but you have Megaman Power Up that looks and plays great on Vita i dont have that as in NA is not available on the store it was a surprise to see Megaman Maverick Hunter x comes with the playable demo of Power Up. This Megaman games and Castlevania Dracula x Chronicles are the best on Vita. It was worth every cent.

Im sorry about the situation Bro i feel the same with Power Up

I think it is less that people actively like the fan service, but more there are large numbers of people capable of ignoring fan service if the rest of the game is fun and has solid gameplay or other story. And also a large number of people comfortable enough to joke about it. But the people buying games solely for the fanservice aspect? I doubt many people discussing such games here are buying them for that reason.

nah, they definitely like the fan service and play stuff that is ass but chock full of fan service (i.e. neptunia)

But I just gave you an example of Sony trying not to piss off the userbase on the PS4 side of things.

The point I'm making is that being in damage control and attempting to maintain a good image aren't so different from each other. I do believe that Sony are trying just as hard to look good where the Vita is concerned as they are with the PS4. The difference is, their options are a whole lot more limited where the Vita is concerned because it is ultimately a commercial flop, so they can only do so much.

Gravity Rush on PS4 would bomb like any Sony Japan Studio game has in the last decade. The sad truth is that not many people like that kind of games anymore (or maybe is the same amount that in 1999, but a success back them did not need the same numbers as a success today), and many just "want" it as a bullet point in the list battle of the system wars.

after that there will be a downport to vita that would sell better .

Good point, all things considered. I still think they should release PS4/Vita games from IPs with Japanese/Eastern appeal. Not for big names like Bloodborne, but Gravity Rush, hunting action stuff and some other mid-tier games should have both versions. That's why I think GR2 being PS4 only would piss me off.

I wonder if they'll ever release a Gran Turismo game on the device. They could use that Gran Turismo 4 HD thing for PS3 as a base, downport GT5 assets (cars and tracks), add a touchscreen friendly interface and not much more.

It'll probably sell decently in Japan, all things considered. And could do "Vita-OK" numbers in the West. They could outsource the project to another studio or something.

I don't have Drac X or Powered Up :(

Ah well maybe some day it will come back and be playable on the Vita and if that day comes I'll buy instantly and it will never leave my Vita.

I wonder what are the type of games people like these days?
more CoD?
more AssCreed?
more Mass Effect?

sigh I miss my PS2 days of gaming variety

Megaman Powered-up is not on US or EU PSN. It is on JP PSN and Vita compatible.

holy. im sorry man i thought you guys had for some reason Power Up , not even Maverick Hunter x?

Come to the dark side
NA

That one we do have. Sony really should allow multiple accounts on Vita and all these problems would go away. Never gonna happen.

I think it's still a Vita title, I can get why they would do a PS4/Vita version but if shinobi is right and it's only on one of them I don't think it makes any sense from a financial standpoint. It'd be much more safe and profitable to let the series die and develop a new IP, the consequences of a PS4 exclusive is absolutely not worth the effort for this particular series.

But this is Sony, not a reasonable company so I'm not going to be surprised if it actually happens.

finally decided I'm quitting this thread after realizing the community is dead and changed.

Sure, and everyone plays shooter because they love shooting people? Have you ever wondered why are there games with much more blatant fanservice are selling like ass while Neptunia isn't? Did you see people praise Conception 2 instead of Neptunia? I don't think I saw any.

You may hate the games but that doesn't mean they don't have good things. Generalizing is bad, you know?

The worst thing about PS4-only Gravity Rush is it would validate all the unpunished port beggars in every fucking thread it's mentioned in.

Is it port begging if I ask for a Vita version in PS4 games thread?

If the game really is a Gravity Rush sequel it seems odd to me to go PS4 only without introducing PS4 players to the series beforehand even if they are shifting from the Vita.

Regardless of what happens if it's not on Vita it'll still be a shame.

My 64GB finally arrived, woo!

Also Murasaki Baby seems to be out on the European store, so I hope y'all buy it and post some impressions in the OT.

Shinobi also later posted a gif in reply to someone hinting the first Gravity Rush was also coming to PS4.

Only 14-21 hours until we find out.

So, if I want to transfer my German account and all my games to the 64GB, I just do a backup of my 16GB (w/ Content manager), then put all that on my 64 GB at which point I can format my 16GB and use it for an US account, right?
