Final Fantasy XV TGS 2014 Trailer | Lord Nomura giveth us His only Son so we may live

Next week's Famitsu is going to have a huge feature on Type-0 HD and XV, including interviews. It's going to be really interesting to see who they interview and what they say. :)

Nice. They really should clarify on whether airships are still in and controllable.

it looks really good, but i guess i missed that there is no turnbased combat system anymore?
Is FF now an action adventure or something like that?

Action RPG.

The game looks GREAT! I find the art direction and character designs excellent, being distinctively Japanese but in a good way (no western generic stuff but not anime cliche either). Really really excited for this!

Car driving sections look scripted. The gameplay/combat doesn't. No idea how the car driving segments will play out, hopefully not too horrible.

Most likely cutscene that will seamlessly transition into gameplay. The car scenes especially look like it will deliver some cutscene then give the player control of the car.

Edit: The beginning with the huge monster is definitely the player driving with the camera aimed towards the monster for cinematic effect.

There probably won't be any info about gameplay and stuff for FFXV. It's still too early in the PR cycle. I think most of the coverage will be on Type-0 HD with a lot of positive spin for the XV demo being the FIRST CHANCE to play the LONG AWAITED game, etc.

Yeah i guessed so, thanks.
Probably the first chance to actual details will be Episode Duscae itself, or maybe some Famitsu issue just before it.

Anyway i remember Nomura talking about cutscenes to help the transition between each zone, i guess that's what those "Oh look who woke up" / "I'm starving" tc. are, just transition scenes. Which is really cool and gives a real trip feeling.
Also probably everybody already guessed that when Noctis wakes up is when the demo starts.

About the supposed name changes, isn't it a bit too early for that? If the guy who gave details on the demo is right, its a scene later in the game, so who knows at that point what's the relationship between Noctis/Stella/Luna is like.

Very interesting..I didn't know that at all.

So FFXV has international talent behind and Fromsoftware does that too ?

Yep :)

I've been hearing all about it from friends in Tokyo. THere's been a big push to hire western talent. Lots of new faces in the monthly meet ups etc

Mostly chatter from friends and also industry podcasts like the one Score Studios puts out. You can hear all about the western talent and situation at From studios on one of their recent podcasts. There's also some content from an ex Naughty Dog employee who talks about how it blows her mind she is working in FFXV. But that's all just tip of the iceberg stuff.

The main cast are like a Nomura cosplay group, he has imposed too much of his own style on them and they don't look like 'Final Fantasy' characters to me. The main character is essentially Nomura himself:

wasn't that shit the result of a collaboration with roen

Thanks for sharing.

Any positive news for FF XV is always good to hear. Hopefully this means the project is top priority and should be out soon.

I have to wonder where Toriyama fits in this situation

They should atleast announce a damn release date for the demo. I don't have the patience to deal with the wait for the announcement of the release date of the demo of a game that I am still waiting for an announcement of the actual release date.

Maybe they don't know the date yet themselves lol.

Whoa...that's good to hear.

I don't what the hell it is but I'm just not feeling it...yet. Need to know about the lore/story and how the characters fit into it.

That looked INSANE good. Like holy shit next gen is finally here.

There's a good reason for that. SE has been heavily recruiting western talent in theirTokyo studios for over a year now. They've got a size able population of western Devs now including people who previously worked for Naughty Dog and Bungie. Many hardly speak any Japanese and, if it's anything like the situation at From Software, they've probably hired people to serve as intermediaries and translators between the Japanese teams and the western teams. They're making a concerted effort to follow through with their goals of truly international development. Should be interesting to see the fruit such a pursuit bears.

Woah, really? Source please, this seems interesting...
Edit: I guess I'm late...

I really hope this is slowed down just for the sake of the trailer so it's easier to see what's going on.

XV has completely overshadowed Type-0, which seems kind of cool in its own right.

Looks amazing, but I'll be honest, I'm not fond of the modern/futuristic setting with cars and cellphones in a Final Fantasy game.

It's kind of weird to me too, then again, it's much more complicated than that, with all the Italian design influence. It will be best judged by playing, imo.

Looks like I'm going to buy my first JRPG for so long. Looks amazing.

That car section is just part of the game right? Airships are still in? Been a while since I've actually looked forward to a Final Fantasy.

I really like the art direction... but this combat system... nope. nope. nope. Looks worse than XII. So I guess I rather play one of the old entries again (again again again).

Looks good but not really all that impressive I standy by my prediction that Xenoblade X will be a better game. Also new Stella design sucks.

They should be. Everything they've said so far has been kept. I just want to know if we can still play as other team members. We haven't seen that since the 2011 footage.

This looks awesome!

The trailer was weird in a way, as it had almost no info on the plot or stuff. I loved the vibe of 4 guys on a roadtrip, though. The combat looks awesome, but it's kind of weird how Noctis' blade keeps disappearing and reappiring in his hand.

I hope it turns out great.

I think it's better this way, we know the general idea already. They can give off some details near release and let us play it ourselves. No need to know the game by heart before release.

that's the gif...

The trailer isn't like that.

GIF is slower than the trailer.

Trailer looked great. That adamantoise is...very big. I am curious if that's the biggest thing or if Weapons will feature and be even more humongous.

Also curious on how the critial status will impact gameplay. It looks cool in that context, but if it means a friend always assisting/slow recovery, then that might get annoying.

Hopefully the generic soldiers will be kept to a minimum. Nothing worse than constant pallette swaps of enemies.

The way the trailer ended was quite interesting. A nice play on the current situation of things.

Looking forward to seeing general world traversal clips. The Versus XIII clips seemed awesome, but here they focussed on scripted car parts.

Over all, hype, hype, hype!

Why does everyone have such a hard on for Shimomura-san? Her Kingdom Hearts and Xenoblade music is....OK, but she's nowhere near as good Michiru Yamane, whom I wish had gotten the job :(

Michiru Yamane>>>>>>Yoko Simomura

AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!
THIIISSSS ISSSSS SOOOOOO BEAUTIFULLLLLLLLLL!!
I'M JUMPING IN EXCITEMENT HAHAHHAHAHA!!!

JEEEESUSSS.
