Does ascendant materials being promoted to legendary mean they will be even harder to get?

I see more complaining coming in the future. Bungie said that ascendant materials will be promoted to legendary. They also said that legendaries will always decode into legendaries, but that also includes materials. So you could turn in 5 purples and get 1 ascendant shard for each. That is still a purple giving an item of equal value. Now that's not to say that getting a shard is a bad thing, but people expecting that they are going to get all of these weapons and armor now may be in for a surprise.

I don't like to nitpick people's writing - it's harder than it looks - but the Bungie Weekly Updates are kind of a chore to read with Deej's style.

"We're already putting the finishing touches on the next update and it will be out pretty soon" would do it. As is we have to read between the lines of two paragraphs of fluff to get to the information. The entire update reads like this and I find myself often skimming it to find the point of a section.

I know im way late here, but trying to catch up. This is one of my biggest pet peeves about the way Deej fluff's his words up with rarely saying anything meaningful or revelatory.

Now that I think of it, all of fuggin Destiny's script sounds like it was pulled straight out of a Deej weekly update.

soon....

Sniping dudes on Venus from earth

The 1.0.2 patch will go live next week, and includes several changes to the Cryptarch and Engram experience. These changes guarantee that Engrams will always decode into items at or above the quality of an engram.

Only Engrams that drop after 1.0.2 are subject to this change.

Cryptarch Changes
Cayde-6 took the Cryptarch aside and showed him a sack of doorknobs. He decoded that mystery pretty quickly.
Legendary Engrams will always produce Legendary or better quality items, including Materials or Exotics
Rare Engrams will always produce Rare or better quality items
Rare engrams will have an increased chance to produce Legendary quality items

Activity Changes
Daily Heroics, Weekly Heroics, and Vanguard: Tiger Playlist activities will include Rare and Legendary Engrams in addition to their existing rewards

Item Changes
Ascendant materials have been promoted to Legendary to closer associate them with the gear they are used to upgrade
Legendary Engram items that exist in your inventory will be demoted to Rare quality when the patch goes live, so decode them while you can. But let’s be honest--even if you don’t, we all know they were blues already...

Wow this is actually a good patch! Holy crap! Finally Bungie good job! You did something right for once! :D

I got the Regime. I'm a believer now. Sorry to the Gaffers I argued with.

Part of me is annoyed yet glad I got that gun from the nightfall strike. I cracked and bought the Apothesis veil.

Was really wanting one of the exotic chest pieces for warlock

There is nothing interesting about a very rare item becoming useless garbage. Interesting is having weapons with large stat variations, different perks, and other elemental affinities that will encourage you to rethink how you are currently geared. They do a little bit of that now but I'd love to see a lot more of it so that even if two people have the exact same weapon, it could be completely different.
Oh, this is already like that!

Drops/vendor gear have different mods for one- and each gun has a "Special Mod" that's highlighted when you're just looking at it without even going to the full upgrade screen. I have one Regulator that does bonus damage with its final shot and one that recovers ammo occasionally on each shot. That's maybe a pretty basic different but it can get very interesting with legendary gear.

Chasing loot seems to be the long game, so I wouldn't be surprised if they male it even more rare for ledgendaries to drop.

Can't believe people were trying to defend the suros early saying it isn't op. I've yet to lose a game and I always come first, this gun is ridiculous. Even with s nerf for all ars it is still going to be the best gun. Stupid idea to sell it.

That's not accurate! I've even seen it show the adjusted rewards on the mission start screen.

edit: Yeah I was slightly wrong before though- it'd be; run the 24, get 3, run the 26, get 3/or run the 24, get 3, run the 28, get 6.

...it just shows the rewards on the screen before you run it, that's the easiest way tocheck.

that's the thing, we did check and it showed +3 for the two highest difficulties but we didn't get any :(

You're complaining you won't be winning because a random number god gave you something for no reason that has made you dominate and now everybody can get it?

Watching this YouTube video of a Hunter using the Suros Regime with the slower ADS rate of fire seems to indicate you can easily out gun someone else from medium to longer ranges and still have half of your clip left.

Are people who bought the gun today and taken the RoF evolution still not happy with it? It seems like a win-win. Slower RoF for more consistent yet more powerful head shots and better ammo conservation.

That's the thing. People dogging the RoF are too accustomed to the AR's RoF and inconsistent precision making up for their own errors in aiming. The slowed RoF almost ensures you don't hit off mark by reducing recoil. This just helps across any ranged shootout - the added damage is just icing on the cake.

So no one is raiding tonight? I don't want to waste my crafting materials on non raid legendary gear. Its monotonous enough to get it...

Also I need 3 more ascendant E to get fully level up my baby.

I agree. What's the point of trying to obtain great guns when servers will be flooded with arguably the best gun on the game?
