Yoshida: Sony is "Working Diligently" on The Last Guardian

The interviewer noted that if for the time being, third party developers were making multi-platform games, then the role of first party games would be extremely important. Yoshida agreed. "Yes. We need to show why buying a PS4 is a good idea through our games."

So far their PS4 games, games by WWS, have been crap to unremarkable. Really wish someone who has experience making and designing great games would lead WWS, not a glorified accountant.

The Last Guardian will be released running in native 4K Ultra HD res at 60 FPS in fall 2020, a year after PS5 launches.

TLG PS5 exclusive. Believe.

You don't think he's a straight shooter? You think Sony would let him come out and tell blatant lies and not have to answer for it?

The game is in development and will see release.

Has the truth really been spelled out or revealed by Sony?

I'd wager it has not. Its first reveal means nothing now, that game is deader than dead.

I don't think he's lying (but business people lie all the time, Yoshida is probably no different), I just think that after so many years "We continue to work diligently on the game..." can be understood in a lot of different ways, and when we've not seen any footage of the game in years I'll continue to be sceptical about the game ever being released.

Such idiocy. Instead of constantly trying to dig yourself out of a hole, here's an idea! Why not just work on it at your own pace and if it works out then surprise us with it!
Stop saying it coming its coming its coming...

tell the journos to stop asking him.

I have faith. At this point the odds are against the believers to the point if it ever comes out it will be surreal. I love when dreams come true. :*)

At this point I kind of want The Last Guardian to be reannounced as a free to play online co-operative game with microtransactions just to see the explosion.

If only people would stop asking about it.

Oh no, I'm not doing this anymore with this game. TGS was the nail in the coffin for me.

So you're saying that once this game is revealed for PS4 and has been released you're just going to ignore it regardless of quality?

There's no escape from this train.

Has anyone else noticed that Sony never willingly brings up the topic of The Last Guardian? The only time they ever mention it is when asked a direct question, and then, all they give is the same cookie-cutter answer again and again. It sounds to me like Sony would be more than willing to let the game fall into obscurity and quietly cancel it, if not for the people who constantly ask them about it in almost every interview.

I actually made a wierd dismissing noise unintentionally when I read the title. I guess TLG is at that point for me now. You'll fit right next to FF 15 and Dokapon news.

this thread came up in the same hour as an FFXV stream

IN THE SAME HOUR

the games of eternal development will see the light of day in 2015

BELIEVE!

they cancelled stigs game after 4. Sure TLG has been in development for longer, but still

Games are cancelled all the time. This might've been in development for a long time, but it's not unheard of for companies to cancel games after years in development (see: Titan, as a recent example).

TLG is a different case.

It's clearly they have a certain vision in their minds for the game and they had technical difficulties to bring it to life on the PS3.... so at some point they started all over again on the PS4 ( reminds me of FFversusXIII people also complained the game is dead \ cancelled ect for years and then we learned it was moved to the PS4 ).

SONY isn't going to re-reveal the game till they are sure that it's in a stage ready enough to be shown to the public... they have said the game development is going smoothly in the past year or so, so why the drama? they won't say the game is still happening every time the question have been asked and in the end they say" LOL LMAO we fooled you gyuys it it's dead and we have been bluffing...." some logic please :\

No, I think they acknowledge that they announced it too early and would rather only talk about it when there's something worth saying.
They keep getting asked about it and their replies are understandably reticent.

Maybe during all that diligent work someone could take a SINGLE FUCKING SCREENSHOT. I know it'll push production back a month but please, do it for the fans.

Also that game is dead.

I really don't understand the attitude towards this game. Some of you act like no games ever have taken this long to happen or have been restarted midway through. It's a reality of gaming.

And some of you complain that he even talks about it at all. He's only talking about it because an interviewer asked him about it. If he said no comment, or refused to comment, or gave some bullshit dance around, you'd be jumping up and down saying "SEE! IT'S DEAD!"

Here you have a company and an exec being upfront about their game, about the mistake they made in unveiling it too early, and you're basically shitting all over them and in some cases outright demanding they just release it in its current undone state just to satiate you.

This is the kind of stuff devs, publishers and execs usually hide from you. Whenever they fuck up or go back to the drawing board, its typically not so public unless someone leaks something.

What the game will be like, I have no idea. No one does. But the hype you force the game to aspire to is your own fault. You can temper your expectations or just sit and wait patiently and enjoy the product for what it is. Or you can hype it up, demand more, demand Sony meet lofy expectations and set yourself up for disappointment.

They should just make a very basic 2d LG, so if anyone asks they can say its already out. Then when there ready they unleash the real LG.
