Assassin's Creed "Parity": Unity is 900p/30fps on both PS4 & Xbox One

Can't believe even after almost a year some are still thinking the power gap between PS4 and XOne is related to optimization. Stop being so delusional people.

Seriously like there's a pretty big difference between the two-

Xbone: 1.31 TF GPU (12 CUs) for games
Xbone: 768 Shaders
Xbone: 48 Texture units
Xbone: 16 ROPS
Xbone: 2 ACE/ 16 queues

PS4: 1.84TF GPU ( 18 CUs) for games + 56%
PS4: 1152 Shaders +50%
PS4: 72 Texture units +50%
PS4: 32 ROPS + 100%
PS4: 8 ACE/64 queues +300%

Anything the XB1 can do the PS4 should be able to do more of. No reason PS4 versions of games should be the same unless the developer wants it to........for reasons.

Ubisoft has told Eurogamer that Assassin's Creed Unity's final technical specifications for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are actually still to be locked down.

With around six weeks to go until the game's launch, the developer revealed in a new expanded statement that there was still room for things to change.

"We decided to lock them at the same specs to avoid all the debates and stuff,"

Yep. This will go down in gaf history for sure. By the time we hit the 24h mark I bet this thread will be over 200+ pages with approximately 600k views. No debates going on here, no sir.

After reading some previews yesterday i dont think that they are lying about this. Game sounded like a mess on the technical side.

The inevitable spec sheet for the rescue! Did it really take 122 pages that some genius pulls the specs out of his hat?

It seems like they are back tracking now..aaahahahahahaha

Its simple ubi. bump it up to 1080p and i'll bite. I'm pretty sure there's not gonna be any real reason why you could not do that to begin with

And these "1080p / 720p = see no difference" posts are funny as hell, every time I see them.
I don't understand. Why is this so important to you? Could you please help me understand what you mean?

And it makes perfect sense for Ubisoft to act in this way. They didn't want to deliver the impression that one version is "better" than the other. So they go for complete parity. I'd wager this will result in more sales overall, even when factoring in the lost" sales and cancelled preorders I see in this thread. GAF buying habits don't reflect a real world situation.

But I thought that no one cared about resolutions and that we can't see the difference anyway, so why would it result in more sales?

Im sure the cancelled pre-orders must be in the dozens now!

I'm sure it is.

What is hilarious is all of this is all the mocking of cancelling pre-orders and laughing at internet outrage still after the launch of the Xbox One. Honestly, the amount of people who still don't believe that social media is a very powerful tool with the ability to cripple a product pre-release is absolutely staggering.

Then again, I guess it probably feels pretty good to mock people. Gives people a warm feeling inside to laugh at people who are upset and taking a stand against something they feel is wrong and unwarranted. Shouldn't expect anything less when a large amount of people still think this is about resolution.

I find the situations not comparable at all.

That's fine. Preorder remains cancelled, may reconsider purchase once it's out and reviewed.

Can' t believe people are canceling their preorders because of this.

As long as the game is fun, couldn't care whether it's 1080p and 30fps. Wouldn't stop my enjoyment of the game.

I take it you've not seen the comments on Twitter, Eurogamer, and all the other games sites that are reporting this. Many people aren't happy.

Lol at the number of bans being given in this thread! People making ridiculous posts.

A great article is up on Eurogamer with the guys from DF seemingly perplexed by the PS4 parity with Xbone.

They clearly believe a native1080 should be possible and shoot down Ubi's nonsense of CPU affecting resolution garbage. Interesting stuff.

I truly believe ps4 was gimped personally

Its not about the res or fps , how many times do people need to explain this to the people that wont listen, Its the principle and showing that we wont stand for it and that intentionally gimping our game to please the fans of MS is not on, get it into your head.

I can't believe you prioritize having fun with your hobby above a minor technical difference.

Well, I mean if you ignore the social media movement surrounding a poor decision made by a large company that has alienated a lot of people that are fearful of condoning the actions will lead to a worrying trend in gaming... then yeah, not comparable.

Ubisoft made the call. Not me. But it seems like they wanted to avoid a discussion like "Xbox One is inferior, don't buy the game for Xbox One, and if you only have an Xbox One, don't buy the game at all because it's garbage!".

So now both versions look more or less the same and the discussion is mitigated. There are a few headlines in enthusiast press, a 200-page thread on GAF and by the time the game comes out the discussion will have cooled down to not disturb the marketing for release day. Sure, people on GAF and other forums often act as multiplicators and influencers for game purchasing decisions, but all in all, what GAF thinks isn't as important as some people here think it is.

UPDATE 7/10/14 11.40am: Ubisoft has told Eurogamer that Assassin's Creed Unity's final technical specifications for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are actually still to be locked down.

With around six weeks to go until the game's launch, the developer revealed in a new expanded statement that there was still room for things to change.

"Final specs for Assassin's Creed Unity aren't cemented yet," a Ubisoft spokesperson explained, "but we can say we showed Assassin's Creed Unity at 900p during our hands-on preview event last week. We're confident that gamers will be thrilled with the gorgeous graphics and how Paris is brought to life in Assassin's Creed Unity.

"The development team has been hard at work delivering the best Assassin's Creed possible on next generation consoles. Regardless of which platform you're playing on, Assassin's Creed Unity will answer what an Assassin's Creed game built from the ground up for the next generation of gaming looks like and will be the best looking Assassin's Creed game ever developed."

Damage control?

Ubisoft already back-pedalling means the damage has already been done. Nothing spreads faster than controversy. Whatever deal MS had expect ubi to sidestep and do a post release patch.

This.

I understand the overall concern. However ... I'm literally shocked by some of the reactions here. So much hyperbole. Do people only care for resolution nowadays? I expect you pre-order a game because of its unique gameplay features, not because of its rendered lines. Sad times.

Hi guys. Boogie here.

I did a little research on the CPU's in both systems and found a benchmark that pointed towards the cpu for the xb1 actually clocking slower. This the article that I was referencing:

http://www.cinemablend.com/games/PS...x-One-CPU-According-Benchmark-Test-61203.html

In the case that this article was wrong, as many have asserted, I apologize. I'll redact that statement both in the youtube comments, an annotation, and on twitter.

Ultimately this should not devolve into another ps4 vs xb1 debate because of my stupid and simple mistake. Its more important than ever to let Ubisoft know you expect them to create the most important version of a game on whichever platform you choose to play it on. Please do that instead of arguing over this pointless console war, or my ignorant mistake.

Thank you.
