I charged all the way through s1 this weekend. I should have watched this when it was airing, boy was it ever fantastic.

...WTF s2 Deen gon' Deen

Log Horizon Season 2, Episode 2:

Where did everybody go, this thread is so quiet now, did DEEN scare you off that quickly? That would be a shame since, okay, the art has gotten so bad a times there were scenes where I could see paper outlines still existing. DEEN truly is going to DEEN at the end of the day.
So I think this episode confirms they are doing Book 6 and Book 7 concurrently like they should be. Anyway, this episode, the first half was about the formation of an actual raid squad and in order to pull off some recruitment they have to return to the wretched hive known as Susukino. It has changed a fair bit since we last saw it early in season 1. This show has a character named William Massachusetts and I have not figured out yet if I as an American should be honored or insulted yet, maybe both. Also, Demikas returns and he fancies himself a spanner in the works. Oh, right, we have a new alleged character named Tetra and she is not the Princess Zelda, but a genki girl cleric, she is awful and I hate her. Anyway, Akatsuki is stuck protecting the Princess Lenessia and it plays out as awkwardly as it sounds. Still, it appears that the Akihabria sections for the moment as going to be chracter studies and I like that.
Anyway, solid effort all around, Log Horizon keeps being entertaining in spite of the face of DEEN.

Ep 2

Pretty terrible episode, no one cares for overpowered invincible never died once Shiroe who cant understand the troubles of everyone, and William Massachusetts. Bring back Tohya squad, at least that had actual drama, suspense, and feelings of accomplishments, with underdogs overcoming the odds triumphantly.

Only enjoyable part of the episode was Naotsugu and the idol.

God its so low budget.

Enjoyed the episode, but I wish they'd spend a bit less time on stuff like food and fanservice. The characters are all pretty funny, but I'd love if they spent more time on action/moving the plot forward.

Enjoyable episode. Looking a bit rough though...

Wonder how this Demikas stuff will play out in the raid. Tetra has the stupid minitophat that idols always have lol. Her dynamic with Nao wasn't too bad. Also when did Nao and Marie become so close?

Akatsuki is a filthy casual who has no raid gear, how sad :( wonder what stuff is gonna happen in Akihabara ? Anyways I don't mind Akatsuki and enjoy her VA so looking forward to more!

Episode 2

lol at what happened to Demikas. Tetra was pretty entertaining, still not annoyed by her.

Hoping the raid will have some nice animation.

DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN!

Decent enough episode and yeah its pretty noticeable just how rough certain scenes look now.
Tetra is pretty funny so far but I can see why people find her annoying.
Demikas still up to no good again should be interesting how that pans out.

Okay, there's something I have to ask because I'm burning with curiosity. If someone who's read the LN can answer me that'd be great (minor spoiler about Tetra so don't click if you care about that sort of thing):

So Akatsuki had her own voice still going when she was in the male avatar at the beginning. Why is it that Tetra has a very obviously feminine voice when she's played by a guy? Obviously, his voice didn't sound anything like that IRL, so something happened. Was this ever explained in the LN?

Akatsuki had what her male voice would have sounded like if she was a male. Remember Shiroe mentioning her not talking a lot to begin with?

Wait a minute... was that in the LN? Because I just went back to episode 1 to check and her (Akatsuki's) voice is exactly the same as after the appearance change (and obviously doesn't fit with her male body).

This new female cleric might make me drop this show

Lol, no you won't (edited out)

Also when did Nao and Marie become so close?

Over the summer training they fought off endless waves of murlocks ;D

If only there were daily Rep grinds @_@

One possibility is that he is actually young enough to pull it off, but another possibility... Remember that in the novels this time, they're talking about the concept that this world is slowly becoming 'real' and that the game rules have been slowly fading away. It's possible that Tetra is becoming a girl for 'real'

The whole scene with Naotsugu and the new girl was pretty weird - starting how how him and the NPC scholar spend ages commenting on her but while she might be sufficating or something with her head stuck in the snow... The scholar did at least get some characterization out of it, but it was a bit of an unfortunate scene...

When she presented herself, I could help but wonder if she was an NPC herself, as people usually don't talk like that, even if this show does have its colorful personalities...

And then despite the idol thing she's a cleric and not a bard?...

The interesting thing was finding about Demikas' relationship to an NPC - I wonder if that sort of thing will come into play later on....

Yeah, cut it out with the teasing bullshit. No one wants to know, and if they do, they can go read the same spoilers you did.

It'll actually be explained in upcoming episodes.

LN readers ruining stuff

Can we please have a no LN spoilers mandate ? Even if they are in spoilers?? They can make their own thread right?

Episode 2

I didn't really enjoy this episode. I don't find Tetra's teasing of Naotsugu cute, and the part where they were debating over her hotpants is pretty much the worst moment of "humor" to ever happen in the entire run of this show. The way Akatsuki's plot has been integrated into this so far feels sloppy, like they're trying to match up the two plots chronologically, even though there's nothing interesting going on with her yet.

I can't tell if I'm being unfair to this new season (after all, the original show wasn't exactly a fast starter) or if the quality drop is really significant. Either way, I'm not enjoying this anywhere near as much as I'd hoped.

Or they should at least mark their spoiler, it is not hard to put:

LN Book 3 Spoiler:
spoiler here.

Please be a bit more considerate =/

Deen busts and pointless NPC commentary Zzzzzz
Everything feels more shallow. At least we get some fight next ep.

I didn't like that whole Cleric introduction. I guess she was fine after that though. Everything else was okay but I'm hoping for an upwards swing soon.

Ahh my apologies guys I got too excited- I've removed that line... Now you probably should do the same with the quote. /uhoh

Shallow?! Do you not feel the burning passion for raiding in your MMO soul @_@ ?!

Nope, you're being unfair to this season but I suppose it's because the first four episodes in the first season had action so people wanted to see this here as well, not realizing that the the other stories like the Goblin King and the Festival also had long build ups. In this case it's like a step-by-step guide to starting a raid, and that means good old fashion LFG and Recon.

Actually I think they've integrated Akatsuki better than I thought- the guys are out on a Raid, Akatsuki laments about not having been in a raid and wanting to acquire more gear. The whole thing about this episode circles around the theme of "Raiding", those who can and those who don't.

This show looks like shit now, damn.

Also I thought this show was already reaching annoying quotas with Akatsuki, what's with this pink girl. Cringed at her reveal.

Calling it:
(Not a LN reader, just speculation:
The new annoying healer girl is GIRL - Guy In Real Life.
I love this show.

Ep. 2

While we are still seeing the full effects of DEEN producing the show this season, I'm still liking the developments so far. The cleric isn't that annoying, though I can see why people would hate that type of character.

I'm actually quite interested in the direction the raid goes in with Demikas trying to scheme in the background and dick over Shiroe. Not even sure why Demikas thinks that doing that during a raid would be a good idea as it seems everyone has something to gain from completing this raid. The Akatsuki stuff is a nice off-beat point in every episode so far as well and works in balancing everything out.

The answer is blind irrational hatred, doesn't matter what else happens, Demi sees the denial of Shiroe's goals at top priority.

It feels a bit predictable that his new SO might make him rethink that at a later date though, even if perhaps too late, who knows... even if things don't go that way, I can't see that recent revelation being entirely without consequence outside that moment of embarrassment in the episode...

How is this worse than Sword Art Online now? The new animation is making this unwatchable. Why does everyone's hair look so fucking terrible? Marie looks particularly bad.

The scene introducing Tetra was unbearable. Tetra is the worst character. Also, a fart joke? Really? What is happening to this show?

I feel dumb, I legit didn't know this season was being made by Studio Deen until I read a few comments here on this page. I thought it was the same one doing it >.<

In all honesty the production values are not that much worse, the animation is but DEEN going to DEEN.

I am still sticking through this show as a fan of LH, and I will say with great conscience that this is still better than Sword Art Online.

Unless somehow, MAGICALLY, Minori turns out to be Shiroe's half sister that we had no idea about. WHICH I DOUBT.

Log Horizon was never really a looker but I'm disappointed the art seems to have taken a downgrade. It's still Log Horizon though, so I'm enjoying it.

Tiny top hat loli girl got on my nerves a bit, but I imagine that would be the same with or without Deen.

Akatsuki really drags down the show :/
"I don't have money for top tier weapons ANNND I have never been in a raid ..."

Soooo wut, is she just a casual? Seemed like she played with them a decent bit before shit went down ... I figured she was a top tier ninja which is why they gave her so many important jobs.

But she's just a damn casual who, for some reason, HARDCORE RPs in the game? >:/
