Do you feel sorry for certain sports fans in which they're stuck with shitty teams?

Miami Dolphins fan here and Miami Heat's dominance has made me forgotten about the Dolphins inferiority. But I am not looking forward to any teams coming season...

This is why if I follow a sport, I follow a specific person in that sport instead of a team. Like in F1, I've been rooting for Massa for a while now and he's switched teams twice.

I feel sorry for nobody that lives outside of Detroit.

When this is as good as it's ever gotten, the gotten has obviously never been good.

Not really. If one team loses, there's a chance that another of your teams can win that week.

Psh.
For me, there's the Red Sox, and then there's a few months of Fall and Winter until the season starts again.

For all I care, the Patriots, Celtics, Bruins, and Revolution can all move away/contract/have their league fold.
In fact, especially with the Patriots/the NFL, I'd prefer that happen, so I don't have to hear about them again.

Toronto Hockey fans are arguably the most hardcore Hockey fans in the world. They're stuck with the Leafs. The leafs have made the playoffs once in the last 8 years or so IIRC. Yet, the fans are always there filling the arena at full capacity at every game, year after year. I honestly feel bad for them. They deserve a winning team.

On the plus side the Red Wings won a championship 7 years ago and made the finals more than that once? ...no, there's no plus side. Not even the 23 years of solid play off opportunities. To be fair, NFC North as a whole is just a division of upsets.

Not with the prices going up like this. The Leafs are an expensive team to be a fan of. ):

I feel sorry for soccer fans as they could follow better sports, Soccer equals a zero to zreo game and diving all day. wooooooo

No. As someone with a total disinterest in sports I've always been confused by fans who cling to shitty teams just because they're from a certain city or state. If your area's team sucks I don't get why you wouldn't just move your loyalty to the next closest team that doesn't suck. But maybe i'm missing something there. Sentimentality?

It's far more insightful to think of professional sports as a religion rather than a collection of teams that play each other. In fact, I'd argue that professional sports took over many of the functional duties previously assigned to religion in the twentieth century in the United States. (something that strangers of a similar geographic area can reference as a shared history, bringing together people of all sorts of socioeconomic backgrounds together in common reverence and interest.)

So yeah, think about people changing team affiliations like someone changing religions and you might begin to understand the issue.

Nope, and I'm perfectly fine with my teams even though they consistently fumble at the finish line. (San Diego Chargers/Padres woo)

In our lifetimes, we will never see the Lions win a Super Bowl.
It used to hurt knowing that. Back when I felt pain.

I live in Toronto so I have three disappointing teams.
The Leafs had their last championship in the 60s.
The Jays just missed out on 22 seasons of playoffs, and while the back to back winning seasons in 92/93 are great - I didn't exist. At all.
The Raptors, well, you get the point. At one point they were a great team, but the one division title they have isn't cutting it.

I don't feel anything. I figure one day they'll get good again, or miraculously become good by finding the necessary set pieces. Until then, well, gg.

Dude, the Raps have a grand total of TWO division title. This city barely has any titles to speak of, let's not ignore the few ones we do have :p

At least you don't follow Toronto FC. Consider yourself lucky. They make the Leafs look like a championship team.

Being a Houston sports fan is pain because of how close we've gotten to greatness but have missed the mark since the mid 90s.. if Yao Ming and Tmac could have both been healthy at the same time.. if Olajuwon's Rockets could have gotten out of the stacked western conference and and faced Jordan's Bulls in the playoffs.. we're the only team iirc that has a winning regular season record against em (5-1) from 91-93. And the current rockets.. we have dwight and harden.. ranked number 1 and two at their positions but we still get bounced out in the first round.. Then there is the texans.. our def is legit, jj watt is a once in a generation beast on the defense.. but our fucking useless quarterback.. *flips table* should have gone for that manziel kid, clowney looks good but is always injured.

I like making fun of the glory hunters who supported united and are now openly shedding tears at the 1-2 punch loss of Alex Ferguson and Howard Webb. As a very casual Arsenal fan I take the time out of my day to make fun of Tottenham to make fun of Man U. I haven't had this much fun since when Tottenham were at risk of being relegated.

at last, for christ's sake
Of course I pity those poor sods who support the inferior London team, Arsenal. Forgive them Abram

for they know not what they do

We've been spoiled by the Heat that past few years but if it wasn't for them South Florida sports would be very abysmal. Being a Dolphins and Panthers fan (fuck the Marlins until Loria gets the fuck out) can be pretty depressing

I'm a Tampa Bay Bucs fan and the only fun part is knowing we'll have a high draft pick for the next season.

Gotta hold out hope that Lovie Smith will end up working it out. He seems better suited for it than the prior coach and he has love for the team that he once was a part of coaching previously.

It's rough right now but it seems like we're getting better week to week. Glennon has proven that he needs to start the rest of the season IMO.

Two division titles. Two. Let's just have a moment because this is groundbreaking a joke. You are right, though. We could do more valuable things with BMO field. Like host Ford Fest because even that's more cared for than Toronto FC.

On the flip side, when your shit local team finally comes good and achieves something the feeling is amazing.

It's a high glory hunters will never feel.

Worth every second of the 13 years I followed them before then, and most of everything that came before.

I feel bad for Bills fans. How do you make the SB four years in a row and not even win once? Thats got to be the shittiest feeling.

I also feel bad for Raptors fans cause the team is owned by MLSE.

I grew up a Jets / Mets fan. Doesn't get more miserable than that. Never gonna bail on them.
Lets go Browns.

Moved to Orlando ages ago and became a Magic fan because I live in the city and its basically the only team in town (well now we have a MLS team fuck yeah). Was pretty good for 3 years or so and misery book ending those years. Elfrid Payton ROTY though.

I'd say Toronto is up there with Cleveland as the worst sports city in NA as a whole. Leafs havent won in 50 years or so, Jays havent made the PLAYOFFS in 22 years and the Raptors have been bad for all 20 of their years. However as someone else pointed out it really does make you appreciate the teams more after you see all the bandwagon Heat (with Lebron) and Yankee fans.

Montreal :( We have the greatest team in the history of the NHL, and yet we haven't come close to winning the cup in the last 20 years. All of our other major teams have long left.

No one is stuck with any team. Team loyalty is this stupid ass concept created by fans to try and give themselves worth.

We live in a world where you can watch other teams. So do it. This blind loyalty doesn't exist in any other part of life except sports.
