I'm hoping it's good. It's next on my list. A more casual Dark Souls seems just fine for me. Heard some great impressions from it so far aswell.

Unfortunately, I think it's region locked. Thus no GMG. I bit the bullet and bought on Steam. Still $10 cheaper than console versions.
Yea, I will still grab it, was just hoping to be able to find a discount. I can't remember the last time I paid the asking price for a game.

Well, they completely did a disservice to themselves with the box art - it's horrible. Secondly, this game is getting overshadowed by so many big titles, unfortunately. I'll be getting it on sale in November or something.

I'm somewhat interested (thanks to the Souls-esque combat) but not enough to get it on day 1. The art style seriously puts me off.

I'll be waiting for impressions from trusted GAFers.

From TV Show Vikings, this is what I picture, Tom Selleck is funny though

YES

It's already been covered but this is not in the game. It's from the video capture equipment.

sweet...looks like i'll be picking it up then

I'm definitely interested. I WILL own this game...at some point. As a few others have already noted, this is a brutal time of year to release a game. Too close to Sunset Overdrive and Halo MCC for me to grab it day 1.

Watched an hour the other night. It looks okay. I think the biggest problem is the gap between DS2 DLC and Bloodborne is really not very long. People aren't going to have time to build up an itch for a Souls clone in that time. The developers also have absolutely no credibility whatsoever.

If it had been a next-gen launch game, I would have bought it no question.

It couldn't be much worse than how Dark Souls 2 turned out (which was still overall pretty good). This game is one of the few that I was looking forward to this fall.

Three months is long enough. I actually played the hell out of DS2 for the first week and a half on the PS3, but then ended up only playing it for about a day once it was finally released on PC, so for me at least there's been a long enough wait.

They originally cited Zelda as an inspiration, and how the game would have towns and exploration, whoch together with DS combat sounded cool.
But now it looks like they dropped that and focused in the combat part, which sucks.

3. Every time I hear someone talking about the game, they mostly say it's like "X" Game + "Y" Game. It doesn't sound unique. EDIT: Heck, even you said it's like Dark Souls X Darksiders :D

Worked for Shadow of Mordor.

I haven't been hyped too much for this game, but then again I haven't seen much of it either. A few screenshots and a short video. I should look into it a bit more.

If the game looks anything like these screenshots, I'll be excited for the visuals alone (though the art style comes across as pretty generic):

I think his "Souls clone" thing and even the recent Namco trailers that make the game look like a soul clone wasn't helpful and hurt the game. they should've market it as next gen Action RPG instead.

I've been looking forward to this since it was announced. I'll probably buy it once I'm finished with the Evil Within.

They really messed up with that release date though.

I am watching through the 56 minute video posted in the OP. I am definitely interested as it does look pretty good. The release date isn't an issue for me as there isn't anything out that I care about in the coming weeks.

Minute 22 of the video: Reminds me of Ornstein from the Ornstein and Smough battle (and the setting) from Dark Souls but Ornstein being a bit chunkier.

I preordered with some birthday cash. I don't care about hype or no hype. The game looks sweet to me. From a business perspective, I just wonder why Namco Bandai hasn't done more to promote what appears to be a high quality game. I seriously think this game might pull off a Demon Souls style word of mouth campaign post launch if it turns out to be what I think it is.

At the very least, I think this small developer, regardless of sales, will prove with this release they are deserving of being funded for big project from an elite third party publisher or first party exclusive.

Hard to judge how well they nailed the Souls thing without playing it - plus, the person playing in the video is terrible. Probably the worst time for a Souls clone to come out, falling almost exactly in the middle of the 4 month window between Crown of the Ivory King and Bloodborne. Talk about putting yourself up against the competition.

I find the art style terribly unappealing, but I imagine it does something for the kind of people that think Darksiders and Space Marine look cool.

I don't care about the Souls games so I've been judging this game based on what I've seen. My problem is the combat/movement looks terribly slow and the first boss I saw looked boring to fight.

I am hyped for this. Been following this since day 1. Seems like all the under hyped games are doing better.

Shadows of Mordor
Wolfenstein : New Order (Everyone thought it was going to suck)
Sherlock Holmes (Which is really good)
Transistor (Download only.)

Etc.

All where under hyped and was a lot more fun

These are always the best games. You go into them not expecting that much and then they pleasantly surprise you.

Two weeks to release and it's still not available for pre-purchase on PC on any other digital platform other than Steam. I'm not sure why that is, but because I'm still not 100% convinced, I'm waiting because pre-purchase deals are never found on Steam. If it doesn't show up on other digital stores, Steam winter sales (assuming people liked it).

The lack of marketing/hype is pretty odd though. I wonder when the review embargo is.

Why do I always think of Alan Wake when I see that title...it barely makes any sense why my head connects it..LOL. I get excited for like half a second.

Maybe God = Lords and Fall = Falls...derrrrrrrrr

GAF has inexplicably chosen the relatively inoffensive character design of the main character and singled it out as one of the worst character designs in gaming history. I don't know why. There are dozens of MCs more generic looking than whoever this guy is but there's just something about him that strikes a nerve on this forum.

I don't expect a masterpiece so much as a fun, competent game to hold me over.

I can't get over medieval Tom Selleck.

You've opened my eyes.

I'm interested in it. Watched some gameplay videos and its on my steam wish list. It's not a day one game though. Got a backlog to get through first.

Not crazy about the main character and I would have preferred a realistic art style more (but it's not bad nonetheless), but judging from the videos shown so far, the game looks pretty damn good.

I actually am a little hyped for this. I wasn't too excited for this in the beginning but I think it has been coming together quite nicely (aside from some technical issues that devs have said will not be present in the final build), and I'm definitely up for some souls-like game with a more traditionally told story. I think it is a little interesting to play as a character who is deemed as evil by the rest of the world. I like redemption stories.

Its on my increasingly huge list of games to buy when I buy a next gen console. (I should really write down a list cause its getting way too big will forget something)

Action RPGs are my thing so I'm definately interested in this. Though I might wait out a few weeks for a price drop which may happen soon I think.

That's what I believe will happen with this game. This is the year of the underdog

I was super hype for this when it was announced but my hype has died down over the past year. Now over the past 2 weeks it's rising again but I'm a wait on reviews. No need to preorder but if the controls are tight and the camera is good, I'll buy it week 1.

Hivemind! Ban him double-posting Mod!

The character does looks fucking stupid. I don't know that it's aggressively bad, or that it'd really make any difference to it's market performance though. The terrible title is a bigger offender.

There is no character customization and Gametrailer's preview of it said Bloodborne was better from what Huber played of Lords of the Fallen.

Previewer said it was good but not in the league of the Souls series.

The game caught my eye on whatever Gametrailer's weekly programme was called back early this year, Thanks for Playing?

I think it does look quite interesting but I haven't seen much about it recently.

I played this very briefly at PAX and I wasn't all that into it to be honest. Character silhouettes being overly complex and bulky really doesn't mesh well with all the twirling and flourishes they like to put in the attack animations. Enemies also don't seem to react much at all to being hit, and will sometimes bulldoze through your attacks with their own. It felt like a floatier, mashier and less precise Souls game, which may very well be what they're shooting for.

I think a lot of people are taking a 'wait and see' approach with this one, which is fair.

If it comes out and reviews and impressions say 'hey, this is a Dark Souls rip off but a damn competent one!' then I'm sure a lot of people will jump on it. That's where I'm at.

Literally nobody has ever been banned for double-posting, so if you're trying to make me look bad, you failed. It's a pain in the butt to edit a quote into a pre-existing post on mobile.

Why don't we just ban you for backseat modding?!

Same here. I need to know how it reviews and later how it runs (fps) before I decide to put money down.

I don't really care for the main character, but the game itself looks good. I'll probably be picking it up day one.

I'm definitely interested to see how it turns out, and plan to purchase it on release day on Steam to show support for these types of games. Still, I can't shake the feeling that it won't review too well. We'll see.

Some people think this game will end up being Skyrim or Dark Souls. I am interested in seeing of this happens or if it is just another pretty face.

I am pretty excited about this. I know Tom Gop's favourite game of all time is Demon Souls, he was referencing that even during Witcher 2 development. He left CDP for this. He wanted to make his own take on this subgenre, and knew he could not do it at CDP who are occupied with more RPGish games like Witcher and Cyberpunk. It takes balls to leave comfy position like that and follow that passion.

Also it helps that the game just looks flat-out great. I remember Jeff Cannata gushing about it. I am just sad that with this release window the chance of selling a lot is pretty small. But maybe it will be a breakout hit, who knows. Word of mouth could carry it. And the budget might not be overblown like in the case of western games.

I played about 10 minutes at PAX and it seemed to control quite well. Not sure I'll have time to get around to it this year, though.
