Spent a couple of minutes on both publisher's and game's sites and couldn't find any release date :(

From what I've seen... I have no idea how this game will turn out. It has a potential to be really good, but it can also suck bigtime

Not every game needs to be hyped.

This looks like has great potential for being an incredibly average action game. I've watched various gameplay videos and all I saw was a uninteresting "me too!" Dark Souls game. Add in the fact that this is being made by some relatively unknown developer...yeah, no hype.

This game feels like a stealth release. I had this same opinion pre-E3. Haven't kept up with it so I don't know if the launch date is confirmed. It looks good though.

Keeping my eye on this one.

Will get either this or sunset overdrive later this month.

I think a lot of people are taking a 'wait and see' approach with this one, which is fair.

If it comes out and reviews and impressions say 'hey, this is a Dark Souls rip off but a damn competent one!' then I'm sure a lot of people will jump on it. That's where I'm at.

This for me. Although Im not really looking for reviews, but GAFers impressions (especially the ones who played Souls series).

I've said this before, but I don't expect this to match the first two Souls games in quality, but I can expect it to uplift the rest of the dark fantasy and/or ARPG genres closer to FROM's quality.

I will say though, that level design is going to be stickler on if I buy this or not; we've already seen this year what happens when that doesn't work right...

Yea, as long as it keeps it dark I'm sure it'll be fine. We shall see soon enough, I'd love for it to be good, as I don't care about CoD or Sunset Overdrive.
The next thing I buy is evil Within (maybe) or Halo, but I've already played Halo , so I want something new.

everything I've seen of it has shown a lot of attention to detail and a lot of quality. Some here have said it looks like a forgettable medicore release from an unknown dev, but I think it could be pretty darn good. It doesn't have a b-tier feel to it in the various videos I've seen.

Every single time I read "New Preview for Lords of the Fallen" I go into it expecting to see a new area of the game. Every. Damn. Time. they show the same castle looking setting.

Is this the only environment in the entire game or what? Show me something unique or at least something exciting looking and maybe I'll be interested.

Jesus, I just rewatched the "Lords of the Fallen - Worlds Trailer"...

Castle Dining hall
Castle hallway
Casle courtyard
Castle grounds
Castle bridge
Castle dungeons

The whole fucking game appears to take place in and around this castle.

The publisher sure is hype about their ugly medieval space marine. I've heard almost nothing about this game, but it had a couple awful trailers I watched (particularly from the perspective of "oh it's secretly a Souls game").

Trying to get that Dark Souls II CE money. They don't seem to realise that a series has to have some history before throwing out busts of characters.

That is goddamn awesome.

Dark Souls + one big Casltevania Castle to explore is my mother fucking dream design.

My thoughts as well. Even the UI looks pretty good. Will wait for the reviews.

I'm VERY interested in it but waiting on reviews. I think it will be a good B-tier game which isn't a negative. As long as the combat is awesome and there aren't many Demons Souls-style obtuseness shenanigans, I'll probably be in once it drops in price a bit.

The problem I have is not that it may be just a single castle and its grounds. The issue is that every area of that castle seems to look exactly the same. Even in Castlevania which you mention, the areas were unique in their look.

Got it on preorder. Hell, even got a T-Shirt. :D

I am desperate for an RPG, feels like it has been so long and a next gen RPG at that. Throw in a combat based on Dark Souls and I am really looking forward to it. Played it a little and everything has a sense of weight which I love.

I love the look of the bosses and how they have 'phases' to the fight so it feels more varied I expect. It is also a new IP instead of slapping on some property name to milk a franchise like a lot of games these days.

The generic looking character and the 'runes' stuff isn't the best design choice however, plus that cover is awful so will drag the game down a bit. If I knew nothing about the game and was browsing for a new one, saw that cover... it would not make me curious to find out more.

This concept art that was released looked so much better, I cropped it for a rough case size:

Would have looked a lot more intriguing and give a better sense of what the game is.

I think a large reason for the lack of hype is

1. Very little marketing, even when we are so close to release.

2. Game just looks GENERIC AS FUCK.

3. Every time I hear someone talking about the game, they mostly say it's like "X" Game + "Y" Game. It doesn't sound unique. EDIT: Heck, even you said it's like Dark Souls X Darksiders :D

4. That main character just looks bad.

5. They haven't shown anything that's genuinely extra-ordinary or great to get the hype going.

Well i agree with 1 and some of 5, the other 3 don't really matter that much, shadow of mordor and dragon age are generic as fuck too, shadow of mordor was pretty much x game plus y and it did great, i don't really get the 4 that seems like your opinion on it.

Man, the style used on those weapons is pretty damn awful. Even Dark Souls 2 preorder items weren't that horrible. I think.

I'm also in a "wait & see" mode. The concept behind the game looks interesting, but everything from the generic interiors, to the way it moves, the fact you can't even create your own main character, etc, all points the game might not be that great.

But perhaps the videos have been misleading. Who knows.

It is on my radar. I don't know if it'll be any good but I like that there are other players seemingly entering the Dark Souls space.

I'm very much hyped that I'm doing the OT. Can not wait for this game, looks bloody awesome and will no doubt deliver on my HD Dark Souls expectations.

There was a thread a while back questioning WHY this game would be targeting this date for release this fall, especially with Shadow of Mordor and Dragon Age coming out all within a few weeks. Different styles of games of course but its like, how many 20+ hour fantasy-setting games do you think people are going to buy within 6 weeks?

I tweeted the developers that they were crazy to release it now instead of say, March 2015 when nothing is out and they gave me a reply about being so confident and loving a challenge.

I admire their moxie but jesus, sometimes you gotta pick your battles a little better I think. The game looks neat but like so many have said, I'm not getting anywhere near this game until 2015 at the earliest and by then it'll be 17.99 on GameFly.

Enemies also don't seem to react much at all to being hit, and will sometimes bulldoze through your attacks with their own. It felt like a floatier, mashier and less precise Souls game, which may very well be what they're shooting for.

Wait, so it's just like Dark Souls 2 aside from being mashy is what you're saying? Sounds like it would still be pretty decent for action adventure fans at least.

And why the hell didn't they at least use something like this for the box art?

The bottom one even evokes Castlevania.

Honestly, they probably don't have the luxury. Delaying it out of this holiday season means you might as well delay it to second quarter because of how stacked Q1 is. An EA or Activision could probably afford that, but a smaller game from Bandai Namco? Maybe not. I guess the bigger question was why target this area from the get go. Should be a late spring/early summer game. But it might have just been where the production schedule landed.

People called Shadow of Mordor "Batman's Creed" and it turned out amazing.

It was Batman's Creed, and it turned out to have a mostly fun, but completely broken combat system with a huge gimmick that some got huge mileage out of, while it barely did anything for others. It also had a completely throwaway story and too many typically generic fedex/recycled missions.

Anyway, the guy directing this game even said that they are under no illusions about trying to beat From at their own game. He said that they are just trying to put their own spin on it.

I don't know what to make of it; I don't trust CI's pedigree or that of the dev. Plus if you want to just scratch that Dark Souls itch, DS2 just had its DLC trilogy released in its entirety and Bloodborne is out in a few short months.

It's definitely one I have my eye on and I suspect I'll play eventually, at least after a major sale but hopefully earlier.

I'm definitely excited for this game. Infact it's the only game I'm picking up this month. Nothing else really interested me enough to go day 1. I understand that I'm probably alone in this, ah well. Different folks different strokes and all that... And I don't really get all the "generic art style" comments. I really like the visuals so far.

Will probably go PS4 this time around though, cause that way I can at least sell the game if it's not good. Still hurting from that Lords of Shadow 2 PC pre-order...

I'd be surprised if this game manages anything above a 70 metacritic. Just looks generic as fuck. I don't wish doom on any dev's game but they really could have gone for something a bit more original here.

It has one of the ugliest colletor's edition ever, but still, it's a new IP and i want to give it a chance. Also is Souls inspired.

I'm pretty hyped for it. Ended up getting it for only $25.63 from Best Buy ($10 Gift Card from The Evil Within pre-order bonus, $10 pre-order credit from Mordor, and $5 in rewards points, +20% off with GCU).

I think it'll be a really fun game.

But, I have to say, that CE is atrocious. Normally I love CEs and LEs, but Busts suck, especially a Bust like that. I'd have been much more inclined to buy it had it been a regular figure or statue, even though I'm not a fan of that character design at all.

You guys realize that some of your favorite genres started out as clones of other clones right? Not really sure if you specifically were using this as a negative, but I know many have.

You know, I have no idea why, but I think the game will score between 78-82.

Yeah better to have it made by a well known shit factory like EA or Ubisoft

It would have to be from word of mouth, but for now I immediately dismissed it as a Souls clone with generic "western designs".
