Its not eating you up? Plans for baby shower need to be made.. People asking don't make you even more curious?

I think baby showers are more of an American thing. If people want to buy us gifts, they are welcome to stay away from committing to pink/blue stuff! People ask, people guess, people assume. I'm happy to let them. It's all part of the fun!

My husband (Redstep - shhhhh don't tell him he's been outed) and I had Chase Kilian Sutton on 09/27/2014. He joins his sister Seven and brother Captain.

Are those Star Trek references?

Oddly, no. Haha. My daughter was Seven because it was a number that really stuck out to me all my life. Our second was Captain Jack (for obvious reasons, I hope). We are both not people who like "normal" names. That often annoys people but I'm 100% happy with our choices.

Chase Kilian was the most tame. Kilian was used instead of Cillian because I wanted an Irish name (I'm half Irish), however, we noticed people in America often mispronounce it... So we changed it a bit.

Cool, I'm glad you're happy with your choices. Normal names are highly overrated. I was sure you'd say that Seven was a Seinfeld reference, if it wasn't a Star Trek reference.

Don't read anything let nature take course don't rely on words wtitten by somebody who is probably not a parent. The awkwardness will all go when it is your own.

Greatest feeling ever holding your own Child for the first time.

Just don't over think it just let stuff happen.

Hahha, I've seen every episode of Seinfeld and yet when picking a name... It never crossed my mind. We were very anti-normal names and I threw the name out after what seemed like days of name arguing. We actually had Captain's name figured out during the naming process for Seven.

Awww, thank you! I have so many adorable pics so far, but I know most people of GAF don't care. :)

Yeah, GAF is probably not the best place to post baby pics.
I still don't have kids and I don't plan to in the near future but it must be the best thing ever.
Congrats :)

Glad to see so many other new dads out there!

Our little boy, Flik Danger was born about 9 weeks ago. We've gotten some shock over our supposedly unusual name, but I don't really care. He's got a super common last name, so we wanted to give him something that was unique. And middle names are dumb, so we decided to have some fun with it.

But being a Dad is one of the most awesome feelings in the world. It's exhausting, but amazing.

So... yea. My Gf of 7yrs is pregnant.
Im in a blank state of mind though.

Precautions . What do i need to be wary of?
Education. What are some easy reads so im not dumb about this?
I baby sitted last night and baby started crying right about the time i was getting in a round of dota (my homies sis got a one year old he was babysitting.. which i ended up babysitting because he work night shift) . But once you put them to sleep whats the timer on them?? is it all random??
Been around kids before.. but they make me feel awkward. I feel like i could break them by breathing to hard when theyre in my harms.
I tried burping a baby, his mother told me im not tapping his back hard enough...
im like how the fuck i should know how hard to tap???!!

Im a sponge right now..help me soak it in.

Get used to not playing video games when you should be watching a child...

Are we taking this over as a birth announcement thread!? I hope so!

Oh god, babies. Congratulations, though, everyone!

My wife is expecting our third...which I'm still not sure how I feel about. Oddly enough my first thought was "fuck, they're not all going to fit in the back seat" but that turned out to not be the case...I just have to replace one of the wider car seats.

I hope it's a boy, although he'll be tormented mercilessly by his two sisters.

Yeah, we figure a Radian is cheaper than a new vehicle.

So we wnt for our first scan the other day.

Turns out we are having twins!

Any Gaffers have twins that could offer some advice on what to expect? Or advice on how I'm going to be able to pay for everything?

Apparently the chance of them being identical is low but still possible.

Got our first midwife meeting tomorrow morning where we get assigned our own consultant and specialist midwife. We decided we didn't want to know the gender of them until the birth.

Exciting, expensive days ahead..

Holy shit dude! I bet was a helluva surprise!

I'm still trying to work out how we're gonna afford our single baby, but have a good look at the payment plans that some stores offer. I don't know where you are, but Mothercare here in the UK have a great interest free payment plan that allowed us to pick up all the big essentials (pram, cot etc.) for about £40 a month over the next year. We're pretty happy with that.

Big surprise for me. The wife said twins run in her family and it was either her or her sister who was due to have them. And her sister has already had 2 single pregnancies. Would have liked to have been told that before really.

Good to know about Mothercare for big purchases though. Think we'll just have to trawl hotukdeals for good bargains and promotions and just stock up whenever anything is on sale.

I know that we'll have to deliver a month early by C-section and that they will probably have to spend some time in the care unit before we can take them home. That will suck but at least it won't come as a surprise.

Is that pretty standard for twin deliveries?

Make sure you sign up to Mothercare's mailing list now, cos we were invited to an event where everything was 10% off, and nursery furniture was 20% off. That's a decent saving when you're dealing with the major stuff.

Not really standard, but most common. If the bottom one is in the head down position then it can be possible to deliver both normally. All the twins in my wife’s family have been C-section though. Most twin pregnancies only carry to 36 weeks instead of 40 so we are expecting them a month before the normal due date; we’ll find out more tomorrow.

We do get scans every 4 weeks instead of 2 throughout the whole pregnancy and more tests for high blood pressure and preeclampsia etc so we should be pretty well prepared for any birth situation.

Interesting stuff. Keep us updated!

Id post my almost 4 month old up here, but im too afraid to post anything like that on the internet. He is the best part of my day. Everyday I look forward to going home to seeing him. And if people read what i said in the physical vs mental exhaustion thread, he makes that all go away. He makes me laugh, me makes me cry tears of happiness. There is nothing i would not do for him. His name is Sebastian and im a very very proud father.

Ok." Baby is on the way" been hearing that since 10am. I rush from the precinct.. Only to find out that the water breaking doesn't mean the baby is here. So now it's 7pm and I'm still waiting..... /nervous

Stay calm man, your gonna be a daddy. Wait til you get back to your home with them, then realize what reality you have fell into!

But seriously, some births take longer than others, stay chill and keep your lady friend calm and all will be fine~

Oh and congrats or whatever :p

I was thinking about you the other day. Congrats on the impending offspring. We're not technically due for another 12 days, but baby is engaged and we've been full term for over a week now. Now's the time to induce established labour. Light some candles, eat a curry, have some sex and watch that baby fly out. Good luck man!

Prepare to wait.

Doctor made me leave the delivery room because she wanted to make sure I ate so I wouldn't pass out. Not knowing how long it would take, I freaked out and ran to the cafeteria and had a bag of combos and a Mt Dew as fast as I could and was back in 5 minutes. Took like another 4 hours after that. Lol

Yea.. I'm on my way to steak an shake now..
Man I got that ball in my throat I don't know if the food is even going to go through.

Congrats.. I used to use an aftershave called Aramis.

One of the advantages of booking a C section is that we’ll know the exact date and time so we can make all the arrangements like time off work, taxis etc. Can’t imagine getting the call at work and having to rush out. Plus parking at our hospital is a bitch.

Also, I felt one of our babies kick for the first time yesterday. It was a weird experience. Next 3 months are really going to drag.

Wow, congratulations! Enjoy being a dad. One of the most challenging yet rewarding endeavours you will ever experience!

congrats dude

my daughter turned one year old yesterday and it's bizarre how much they change in such a short period of time, and how quickly the last year has flown by.

enjoy not sleeping :P

Seeking pregnancy advice here is very unprofessional.

I pity that unborn baby.

Pity? What the fuck for? Unproffessional? He`s seeking info, opinions, knowledge, tf is wrong with that? Lots here are parents including me.

OP: dive in, you very soon learn how to swim. The hardest, toughest thing I´ve done. And the most rewarding, not much else matters

congrats dude

Yea slept for 2hrs yesterday... But man I was so wired I didn't notice how tired I was.

It's so different holding your own baby compared to holding a friend's baby.
