So what are the theories on what killed Barry's mum? I don't read Flash comics much unless it's some Batman crossover. Could Jay Garrick be involved? Reverse Flash? Or is Barry involved from the future on some cosmic treadmill shit?

I'm curious about the prison idea.

Who's feeding prisoners?
Who's trying them?
Is there going to be some oversight to ensure they're not being experimented on?
Who determines sentence length?
Is there a release and rehabilitation program?

Really enjoying this. There's the repetition that's generally expected from a show in its first few episodes, but you can see where the producers have learnt from Arrow's slow start and its later successes. Grant Gustin is a fantastic lead.

I'm not a comics reader so this is pure speculation, but will spoiler tag anyway just in case, but
are we supposed to be assuming that Dr. Wells is a future or alternate universe version of Barry? Because the show seems to be really heavily hinting at that without ever saying it out loud. Plus there's apparently a Crisis On Infinite Earths reference in the pilot which, unsurprisingly, I missed.

It was the last shot of the episode

It was stated in the last episode that they were looking for a way to remove their powers. I'm assuming they'll send hand them to the cops after their powers have been removed.

With all this multiverse talk and Crisis on Infinite Earth hints, I think there is a slight chance we will get to see Grant Gustin on film screen.

Flash film is currently slated at March 23, 2018 [that's around the end of Flash S4]
Justice League Part 2 is is currently slated at June 14, 2019 [after end of Flash S5]

Hopefully DC is planning to film some multiverse action. :) But there is no guarantees.

Anyone else feels a better connection between the flash and the scientist girl than the captain daughter? Also whats the deal with the dude in the wheel chair?

I love the use of Vancouver. It's my hometown, so I get a kick out of seeing all the Vancouver locales.

I've lived here for 18 years. It almost always takes me out of the show because I know the city intimately and when they jump from locale to locale between a cut it drives me nuts. Like establishing BC Place as the lab and then cutting to the interior of the CBC building drives me bananas. Also City Hall for the police station and then the interior is some brick and beam Gastown or Yaletown office.

Arrow does a better job of covering up the city because they don't shoot as wide all the time.

Regarding the preview/trailer for next week:
Anyone else feel like the OT title and Felicity's joke fit a bit too well. Obviously unrelated but it made me chuckle.

That Wayne Tech reference. Are they even allowed to do that on this show?

Geoff Johns has given near carte blanche.

For those of you in the US you should check out the documentary Superheroes: A Never-Ending Battle on netflix. The third episode has the crazy DC executive lady who is the reason they killed superman, cuz she wouldn't let him marry Lois. And I wouldn't be surprised if she created the Bat Embargo

I lol'd at Barry and Iris walking out of Vogue

The prison is closest in concept to the ARGUS facility featured prominently in the Justice League of America's Vibe comic (who is Cisco). It was meant to house interdimensional metahumans who crossed over from their world to ours.

Thanks for the documentary recommendation.

It's a great show so far, though there's something fishy with Dr. Wells in general. Just what exactly is he planning?

Also, & forgive me for going OT, but I would like to see a competition as to who's the fastest: Speedy Gonzales, The Flash, or Sonic the Hedgehog.

Im liking the science aspect of the show, the team identifies how the powers operate and the weaknesses are pretty technical. It also leads to stupid lines like "We share everything in science" which was hilarious.

Not really liking this thing of showing Ed at the end of the show being all sinister and crap, I understand its meant to illustrate the duality of the character and create tension but it just feel disjointed and frustrating.

- THR: 'The Flash' Enlists 'Vampire Diaries' Alum as Key DC Comics Character
The Vampire Diaries and Star-Crossed alum Malese Jow has been tapped to recur and play pivotal DC Comics character Linda Park, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The character is described as
a quick-witted reporter for the Central City Picture News. She befriends Iris (Candice Patton) while at work and helps her navigate the fast-paced world of journalism. When she meets Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) at a local bar, the two hit it off and become quick friends. The character will first appear in episode 112.

Was the rating of the last episode pretty good? I would imagine Avengers 2 Trailer might made it drop some ratings.

I believe the ratings have been holding, which is good.

Flash and Agents of Shield aren't on at the same time so I don't think the Avengers trailer would have an effect.

- IGN: Wentworth Miller discusses returning to TV to play
Captain Cold
on The Flash

Question: We’ve heard some pretty rave reviews for your performance from your costars. What was your angle on the character going in, since you weren’t familiar with the comic books?

Miller: When I was cast, I went online and googled a few images and some of them I responded to and some of them I did not and I thought, “Let me take my cue from what the writers have planned." Because I got the sense early on that there was a willingness to respect what’s come before but also an interest in reinventing and giving things a fresh spin. So I thought let me take the character from the pages of the script specifically. What I responded to was this very powerful guy who has been at the top of his game for a long time and maybe he’s gotten a little bored, a little complacent and then suddenly this extremely worth adversary shows up and suddenly the game is interesting again. And I think while he has it out for the Flash, on some level there’s also an appreciation and a certain degree of resect. I like the fact that he’s a villain but there are hints that other things are stirring beneath the surface.
- Variety: ‘The Flash’ Premiere Stands as Most-Watched CW Telecast Ever
It’s the largest audience ever for any telecast on CW since its launch in 2006, breaking the previous record held by a season finale of “America’s Next Top Model” in 2007 (6.69 million). “The Flash” also logged the highest-rated premiere ever for the network in men 18-34 (2.5 rating).

Across all platforms, including initiated streams on digital platforms and total unduplicated viewers on-air over two airings the week of Oct. 7, the premiere was seen more than 13 million times.
