The second Caitlyn compared Barry to Ronnie I knew they are gonna bang

It'd be pretty funny if he started banging females on the show with the frequency of Oliver Queen, but still pretended to be upset about Iris and Eddie

Fun and enjoyable episode.
But they really need to do something about the dialog. Every single piece of character interaction sounds like it's from Dora The Explorer. Both what they say and how they say it is atrocious!

The only thing I found objectionable in this episode was Caitlin saying Ronnie described them as Fire & Ice. That's a little too forced for me, there are a lot of lines like that - they seem designed to make the comicbook fans giggle in private knowledge / excitement of whats to come. It probably just sounds weird to people who don't already know though.

I thought some of the scenes with Joe, Henry Allen and the STAR labs gang were pretty good tbh this episode.

I've only just read that Victor Garber is coming as Dr Martin Stein btw, holy shit - he and Ron Rifkin were my favourites on Alias. Tom Cavanagh is going to have some badass/gravitas competition!

I dont have a problem with the comic book references. What grinds my gears are the "dramatic" dialogs. Like the secret boyfriend talk, and the saving dad from prison talk, and the dead fiance talk, and all those other "dramatic" scenes. No one talks like they do in the show.

I can handle cheese. If it's good. Like the 60s Batman series. The dialog in that is cheese galore. But it's good cheese. If this show wants to have a lighter mood, they have to make the cheese good. They cant write it like a soap opera, then it just comes out like it currently does. Bad.

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but is probably well known.

In this show, Henry Allen (John Wesley Sipp) is Flash from the 1990-1991 show

Like I said, probably old news, but I just realized it after watching this weeks episode, I recognized him.

I have zero problems with the dialogue. I think its been mostly perfect so far. In fact the fire and ice line might be one of my favorites so far.

Yes it is squarely aimed at fans of the comics. But it also works because there is a running theme about destiny in the show. So maybe after a second viewing or at least after their arc has moved on a bit it will strike the right chord for people that felt it was off or forced.

It is so obvious Barry and Caitlin are going to bang. Yeah in the comics and traditionally The Flash is all about his Iris but this is a show on the CW. The cast is young and attractive because everyone has to hook up.

Wait flash is getting a 23 episode season? Does that mean Flash or Arrow is getting another back door pilot?

Haha, it's remarkable well for the CW, but it doesn't matter. We already got the full season, and it is easily the CW's most popular show right now.

Awww yes. I don't know much about the rating number so I would say anything above 2.5 is very good for a shows' health with Arrow and Flash? I am very fond of a lot of stuff and applaud WB on their output so I want to see these do well.

While this isn't a factor now for The Flash I expect it to follow in the footsteps of Arrow which performed well on DVD/Blu-ray compared to most other shows. It is a success.

Chances are they contemplate hooking up, then Ronnie returns causing drama, and then Caitlin/Barry date but Iris is jealous and wants Barry. Cisco does some breakdancing and decides he likes Iris. Wells gets out of his chair and looks at photos of Barry & Iris getting married longingly. Then Tommy Merlyn, in the Hell he belongs in, stares at the ground and sighs.

Anything at 0.7 and above is a success for the CW, which has lowered expectations compared to other networks. The Flash's 1.4 and especially 1.9 make it a smash hit for the network.

You don't have to worry about Flash's ratings, at least until next season.

No, 23 episode seasons are standard.

not on the CW it's usually 22 and 23 if a backdoor pilot is happening

Vampire diaries and originals are 22
supernatural is always 22 with the exception of last years failed backdoor pilot

Not really. While the CW has far less coverage compared to the other networks, those that do watch, stay watching. Any show that stays between a 0.7 - 1.3 during it's first season, will continue to draw in those ratings for as long as it is on the air.

Even shows like Supernatural, which has been on for close to 10 years and has had a few bad/lackluster seasons, still retain their fanbase.

Supernatural seems to have a failed baxk door pilot every year. Peso with said he really wants a spinoff to happen.

On to The Flash, I don't like what they did to Ronnie's characterization and making him a super genius.....

Supernatural had three years straight of 23 episodes, Arrow had two 23 episode seasons.

I'm torn on who I want Zoom to be, on one hand it'll be so obvious if it's Wells that any attempt to make it shocking will be super lame.

On the other hand it just makes too much sense. If there's another time traveller hell bent on killing Barry's mum after he's been born then...well I can't see that working.

I guess maybe the shock will be Wells realising how far he's going to go to create the Flash.

Why did the guy in the flashbacks look so familiar? Like I'd seen him in something, but I can't place it.

Anyway, another really good episode. Show is on fire, really hope it's able to keep the momentum going.

iris is whooo. cw's finest right there.

plus felicity belongs on flash, that promo between her and barry for next week's episode is better than olicity has ever been.

Centuries, eh? Wells must be
Booster Gold!

And I guess that makes that crazy sphere thing in his secret room Skeets.

I'm calling it.

I'm wrong.

So, is it me or the ending of that last episode was a big "jump the shark" moment? I mean, seriously? TvTropes is gonna have a field day with this.

Nah. It's corny as all get out, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I (obviously) don't speak for all Tropers, but I'd classify it as Narm Charm more than anything else. Definitely not jumping the shark.

Going to give this a go after enjoying Gotham's weirdness. Is Arrow worth watching too? Never started because every ad for it was the dudes abs, and not actually Green Arrow related. 3 seasons is not an indicator of quality when it comes to WB shows lol.

Arrow is amazing(took a few episodes imo) and Flash is great so far

Now that Robbie Amell has made an appearance, I want them to put Cara from Tomorrow People on next!

Don't tempt me brah. Don't know who she could play, hopefully a recurring. Damn they still need to cast Patty. Still on the edge of my seat for that one. The actress that played Miss Caroline (Laura Spencer) on Sleepy Hollow would make a great Patty.

The use of Vancouver is REALLY distracting. Far more distracting than Arrow which seems to have a better eye for hiding its locations.

I don't like the camp feel of the show and the directing is mostly awful.

I don't think a show can "jump the shark" in its first three episodes. But the TV Tropes has pretty much ruined the term so maybe it can now. *shrug*
