it's happening. Ollie who? Iris what?
Really enjoying this. There's the repetition that's generally expected from a show in its first few episodes, but you can see where the producers have learnt from Arrow's slow start and its later successes. Grant Gustin is a fantastic lead.
I'm not a comics reader so this is pure speculation, but will spoiler tag anyway just in case, butare we supposed to be assuming that Dr. Wells is a future or alternate universe version of Barry? Because the show seems to be really heavily hinting at that without ever saying it out loud. Plus there's apparently a Crisis On Infinite Earths reference in the pilot which, unsurprisingly, I missed.
I'm curious about the prison idea.
Who's feeding prisoners?
Who's trying them?
Is there going to be some oversight to ensure they're not being experimented on?
Who determines sentence length?
Is there a release and rehabilitation program?
I love the use of Vancouver. It's my hometown, so I get a kick out of seeing all the Vancouver locales.

Hey, that's my 47th birthday!
That Wayne Tech reference. Are they even allowed to do that on this show?
Huh, I didn't notice the headline near the bottom before.
Red skies vanish. So someone was aiming to take down Supes?
And Batman buying up Queen industries?
Nice.

I lol'd at Barry and Iris walking out of VogueI've lived here for 18 years. It almost always takes me out of the show because I know the city intimately and when they jump from locale to locale between a cut it drives me nuts. Like establishing BC Place as the lab and then cutting to the interior of the CBC building drives me bananas. Also City Hall for the police station and then the interior is some brick and beam Gastown or Yaletown office.
Arrow does a better job of covering up the city because they don't shoot as wide all the time.

I think the cheese is exactly right with Flash. The cheese in this show is too much. Ugh I wish they would dial it back on that. Arrow too.

Thanks for the documentary recommendation.Geoff Johns has given near carte blanche.
For those of you in the US you should check out the documentary Superheroes: A Never-Ending Battle on netflix. The third episode has the crazy DC executive lady who is the reason they killed superman, cuz she wouldn't let him marry Lois. And I wouldn't be surprised if she created the Bat Embargo
Yup, no contest. Except for cheese nightmare Gonzales maybe. The Flash easily.

The Vampire Diaries and Star-Crossed alum Malese Jow has been tapped to recur and play pivotal DC Comics character Linda Park, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The character is described asa quick-witted reporter for the Central City Picture News. She befriends Iris (Candice Patton) while at work and helps her navigate the fast-paced world of journalism. When she meets Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) at a local bar, the two hit it off and become quick friends. The character will first appear in episode 112.
Was the rating of the last episode pretty good? I would imagine Avengers 2 Trailer might made it drop some ratings.
Good to see her back on The CW.

Hasn't that character been on the show already with a different actress?

Nope.
Weird I watch some of those DC animated shows where Sups beats the Flash...
- Variety: The Flash Premiere Stands as Most-Watched CW Telecast EverQuestion: Weve heard some pretty rave reviews for your performance from your costars. What was your angle on the character going in, since you werent familiar with the comic books?
Miller: When I was cast, I went online and googled a few images and some of them I responded to and some of them I did not and I thought, Let me take my cue from what the writers have planned." Because I got the sense early on that there was a willingness to respect whats come before but also an interest in reinventing and giving things a fresh spin. So I thought let me take the character from the pages of the script specifically. What I responded to was this very powerful guy who has been at the top of his game for a long time and maybe hes gotten a little bored, a little complacent and then suddenly this extremely worth adversary shows up and suddenly the game is interesting again. And I think while he has it out for the Flash, on some level theres also an appreciation and a certain degree of resect. I like the fact that hes a villain but there are hints that other things are stirring beneath the surface.
Its the largest audience ever for any telecast on CW since its launch in 2006, breaking the previous record held by a season finale of Americas Next Top Model in 2007 (6.69 million). The Flash also logged the highest-rated premiere ever for the network in men 18-34 (2.5 rating).
Across all platforms, including initiated streams on digital platforms and total unduplicated viewers on-air over two airings the week of Oct. 7, the premiere was seen more than 13 million times.
