Street Fighter 5 exclusively on one platform would be a megaton ?

Only speculations.

This thread is mainly to know if the Street Fighter IP is still very popular and if an exclusive Street Fighter can be a system seller. I don't have any infos about it.

Still, Street Fighter 5 exclusive on PS4 is indeed possible.

Recap of things that make me say it :

1 : Hadouken Cabs PS4 Teaser 8nov 13 : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lIxFeq_OvkE

2 : Ryu main protagonist of PS4 launch ad : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dR28fXFDMI

3 : Ono working on a PS4 exclusive game : http://www.computerandvideogames.com/470014/yoshinori-ono-working-on-unannounced-ps4-game/

4 : Ono visiting SCEA to talk about " ... ;p " : http://www.gamekyo.com/images_1/8cedfa58bc65bdf91c66677a6c64a64d20140912014834.jpg http://www.gamekyo.com/images_1/49c4162e9a589b11ca6d0ade3a4ce53c20140912014834.jpg

5 : The rumors that say a big ps4 exclusive will be announced at Playstation Event in December.

So personnaly i think that Street Fighter 5 can be exclusive on one platform, i would like to know what will be your reactions if it happens ?

Kinda feels like there damn well better be an exclusive SF game on PS4 after that hadouken cabs nonsense. Like how can you just tease SF on PS4 and then do nothing?

Don't see why not, after all Sony too need it's exclusive fighting game (MS has KI, N has Smash).

How much did SFIV sold (considering all editions)? And how much on PS3?

Puzzlement at how I somehow entered the universe where things that are never going to happen somehow happened and desire to get back to the real world.

Not really a system seller, per se. But could be interesting if this is the reveal.

But Capcom is hemorrhaging money left and right and can barely afford to have one of their real sellers not be on as many platforms as possible.

Not worth money-hatting from Sony's POV (won't get additional sales as the system is still selling very well) and the series is just not a big unit mover anymore.

Considering SF4 isn't as big of a seller as, say, Tomb Raider and such + it would bring a lot of fighting games fans(guaranteed systems seller). Such deal might be possible. But it would certainly make a lot of people angry.

No way in hell.

No way Sony is paying enough to make up for lost revenues on Arcades, XB1 and PC

"timed console exclusive" - sure, there's a chance, but I frankly think only MS has the wallet to do it

If anyone would moneyhat SF5, it would be Microsoft. Would be a huge risk on Capcom and Microsoft's part though.

SF5 is going to have a hard time surpassing SF4 competitively, given the size of SF4's roster. Putting it on one platform runs a good risk of folks rejecting the game SFxTK style, especially if there's F2P stuff in there.

The reward is if it does pan out, it would force fighting games, including non-SF games, onto that console, you'd corner that market- but how many folks is that? Not enough to be worth it I think.

A Sony moneyhat wouldn't be needed, as by default FG players would probably go PS4 if they didn't have to choose. That said, it's lower-risk for Capcom to let Sony moneyhat it for that reason.

it would be an incredibly stupid thing for capcom to do. they need to sell as many copies of street fighter 5 as they can. limiting themselves to one console would hurt the longevity of the franchise.

They have their own fighter tho.

I don't think XRD is exclusive really- it's just that Arcsys doesn't think a XB1 or 360 version is worth it.

Yeah if MS wanted to I'm sure they could pay for it to be on the X1

SF >>>> KI in terms of popularity among FG heads and the general public. KI is a fighter, SF (as much as I hate to say this given my KOF/VF love) is THE fighter.

Only Smash and MK are in SF's league in terms of popularity.

At Evo alone next year, SF and Smash will probably each outpopulate the rest of the games combined.

I'm not fighter games fan, so I don't know if SF worth the moneyhat. Will it boost the sales of that one platform if it's exclusive?

Well as long as ArcSys don't see the viability of a MS platform version it's exclusive to PS platforms that fact remains as of now. Guess it could change but seems unlikely if nothing has been said so far?

This is Capcom we are talking about, they even ported Street Fighter IV to the 3DS.

So only if a publisher buys the exclusivity I can see it happening.

or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Realize This Assgrab is Delicious
It's just more important to grow the community/brand than it is for any short-term monetary gain. So I don't see it happening.

It would cost a LOT just for a 6 month exclusive window. And even that might be unlikely.

I love my Ps4 and I love Street Fighter, but I would hope something like this doesn't happen the wider the audience the more viable of a good sized community for the game.

SF4 sold what like 4 million. I mean yeah I guess it is a megaton but its not in the realm of something like FF/KH which funnily enough would be easier to money hat for Sony since the sales are far more skewed to Playstation in the latter than the former.

I highly doubt SF5 is exclusive.

Well yeah, but KI has been very successful for MS. Doing that would just suck all the hype and successful KI has gained over the last year

No way it's not coming to arcades, but console exclusivity(for the first iteration only) may not be as expensive as some notable 3rd party exclusives this gen.

Stupid waste of money for either Sony or Microsoft to be honest. like many have said already, it's better that everything is multiplatform and that the respective companies spend their money investing in first party game development.

i can see sony possibly buying some vs game exclusive to their console like the much desired capcom all stars but they can't afford street fighter 5 exclusive.

The FGC wouldn't mind as much as you'd think. They'd probably be glad to have one console. Netplay warriors would probably be upset if they think the PS4 couldn't handle it.

I do think it makes more sense for Microsoft, given how the FGC prefers the PS4 right now, this would win them back. Xrd fans would just keep their PS3s and it would kill PS4 Xrd. (I suspect Arc would make the 2nd Xrd game when that happens on XB1 if SF5 was Microsoft-exclusive)

Also, odds on SF5 being cross-gen are pretty low. Cross-gen in 2016? I think a PC version is more likely than a PS3 version.

I do think this is unlikely.

Some spinoff fighter that's PS4 exclusive with Ryu in it, that's much more likely.

the fgc prefers the xbox 360 and ps3 since they have everything pretty much. only next gen game is killer instinct and xrd will be on ps3 as well.

I'm referring to next-gen (PS4 vs XB1 vs WiiU) here not current-gen. Sorry for the confusion.
