Street Fighter 5 exclusively on one platform would be a megaton ?

Capcom probably couldn't afford to. They need dat paper and multiplatform is a good way to get it...KI seems to have done well so the audience will be there too.

The FGC wouldn't mind as much as you'd think. They'd probably be glad to have one console. Netplay warriors would probably be upset if they think the PS4 couldn't handle it.

I do think it makes more sense for Microsoft, given how the FGC prefers the PS4 right now, this would win them back. Xrd fans would just keep their PS3s and it would kill PS4 Xrd. (I suspect Arc would make the 2nd Xrd game when that happens on XB1 if SF5 was Microsoft-exclusive)

Also, odds on SF5 being cross-gen are pretty low. Cross-gen in 2016? I think a PC version is more likely than a PS3 version.
Eh I plan on getting an Xbone in the next few weeks and I shudder to think of playing anything other than KI where I have no choice on that pad as a pad player. So please let's not think about all this scary exclusivity stuff and let's just hope SFV isn't too far off and is good for everyone ;_;

It would be rather weird. I could see it happening if SCE is funding the development. There would absolutely need to be arcade versions for the game though.

I hope this doesn't happen, considering this had never happened in the history of the series. If it does happen, it better be the best damn Street Fighter game ever.

Anyone consider timed? Games cost too much to be fully exclusive nowadays, for the most part. Even when they say they are, short of the platform holder fully funding the game which is even more rare.

You'll be right on time for #notamummy

At Evo alone next year, SF and Smash will probably each outpopulate the rest of the games combined.
Considering it will be MKX's(and GGxrd, lol, :( ) first EVO, I really doubt that, even if Marvel get a 50% drop, I don't see that happening.

The nature of the Hadouken Cabs teaser is just weird. Seems to try to start as some viral ad but then disappears for a year.

Well as long as ArcSys don't see the viability of a MS platform version it's exclusive to PS platforms that fact remains as of now. Guess it could change but seems unlikely if nothing has been said so far?
Since the X1 is doing worse than the 360 everywhere(except ~maybe the US), I don't see that changing unless MS step in to help them with it.

Street Fighter Zero 3 HD Remix.

No, that would be stupid of Capcom. They need this franchise to stay strong and limiting it to one console won't do that.

It would be big, but not that big. Quite similar to what happened with Tomb Raider actually, both are old popular licenses that got rejuvenated recently, but they're not really system sellers any more.

Capcom can't afford it. Although i think the PS4 version will be preferred by the fgc as its most likely to have better performance.

Sony needs an RPG to save them in JP not a fighting game!
Monster Hunter on PS4 would be somthing megaton!

I'd rather have a hand-drawn Zero 4, thanks.

Or maybe something like Guilty Gear Xrd, dayum.

I just love the Zero games. I played them sooooo much. I actually played them enough to care about my score in arcade mode and try to go for higher scores. One made up like Xrd would be.... omfg.

Just make sure to include R.Mika like they failed to do in USF4.

SF4 sold what like 4 million. I mean yeah I guess it is a megaton

SF4 has had a huge impact on the fighting game scene.

Probably million of sales due to multiple iteration, huge(biggest) presence in the competitive.Huge potential for merchandising through arcade sticks and accessories.

SF5 will likely never be an exclusive.Huge franchise.

It wouldn't be worth the effort. SF4 was a big deal because most people outside the FGC never even heard about 3, so 4 was a big comeback. SF5 will be just another sequel.

Ono was in the PS Experience trailer decked out in SF gear with a mini Blanka wasn't he? Seems Sony have been pushing SF imagery a lot more than Deep Down with their trailers.

There would be a few diehard fans (I'd be one of them) who would get the hardware for that game only no matter what, but all in all I don't think it would be a clever move for either capcom or sony/ms.
Capcom needs to sell as many copies as possible, and the fighting genre isn't that popular that it would help sell a platform that much. Granted, SF is the bigger fighting game franchise there is, but still...
I could see a time-limited exclusive happen, though.

it won't be street fighter 5, but the exclusive PS4 game could very well be Street Fighter 4: Turbo Mega Hyper Edition with another 4 new fighters.

Capcom can't afford exclusivity. They need as large of an audience to buy as possible these days...the kind of money they'd require for exclusivity would be far too much for someone to pay.

Yes, that was interesting. Whatever Capcom has in store for PS better be worth all the teases. That said, timed exclusive seems more likely than anything else.

Even if such a deal happen, it will probably be for the first game only. Capcom will support SFV until SFVI happen, and neither Sony or Capcom are crazy enough to sign a 5(at least) years exclusivity contract.

For Sony, just the first iteration will have the same "system seller" effect as having the whole SFV series exclusive. While from Capcom perspective, they're only losing first iteration X1 sales(and then SSFV sales will make up for most of it). Since steam sales aren't front loaded like consoles, it wont lose much sales for being released late(which will probably be the case even if the game isn't exclusive).

I can see this happening if Ono had trouble securing finances for the project from Capcom and needed outside help.

Could see it being Sony over MS since Sony's system is more relevant worldwide.

the fgc prefers the xbox 360 and ps3 since they have everything pretty much. only next gen game is killer instinct and xrd will be on ps3 as well.

The FGC jumps when the games do, just like they jumped to 360/PS3 for SF4/MVC3. I have a hard time seeing cross-gen lasting till Street Fighter 5. Basically everything announced for 2015 is new gen only.

As for exclusivity, I don't see how it would matter to Sony if the arcade version still exists. I have to imagine a very small portion of the community in Japan only plays in arcades now, or that an arcade version seriously hurts console version sales in Japan. PC gamers are second class citizens to Capcom, and the Xbox One is not a highly lucrative platform to develop for right now.

A megaton of shit that thankfully is not going to happen. If anything I'm expecting Capcom to be looking to expand the FG audience by offering a free entry-level version.

While it's possible, and could certainly thrive on PS4, I just don't see it as the kind of game that Sony is interested in at the moment, particularly when SF has fallen back into the sphere of the hardcore-only sect again.

Even if it did happen, it wouldn't even really be a Megaton for this reason, unless it had something very striking about it.

Tekken going one platform only though? That'd rock a few boats.
