Evolve Big Alpha Impressions/bugs/glitches thread

Or fooling the trapper. I managed to hide behind a rock with sneaking when he/she brought up the dome. Maybe thought that I managed to get outside the range, so he/she disabled the dome and continued pursuit.

Maybe I had a lot of luck on that one.

Once the see you're in the dome, that would never work lol.

I usually go for 15% ability cooldown. Especially as the Kraken, which gets hilarious if you get a 100% decrease from an animal. Agree with a charge point in goliath though, the game put me in for a bot controlled goliath and he didn't spec charge at all...I felt neutered.
Kraken's cooldowns are already ridiculously short though. There's rarely ever a moment where all of my abilities are on cooldown. Both monsters are already super fast, powerful and damage resistant. The only problem is avoiding the hunters while you feed and evolve, so those are the perks that really help.
When playing as the Monster, how do you deal with the dome that the Trapper sets up? Is it inescapable or can you disable it somehow?
Downing the trapper brings down the dome.

Well, that is true.

Little update considering PS4 version.

How to solve the balancing problems: Increase the jetpack recharge rate significantly, monster takes longer to feed. Oh it would also be nice to not have a hit-box the size of a small house as a hunter.
It's hard to definitively say that there's a balance issue at the moment. Almost everyone is terrible at the game. Monsters seem to be especially terrible because of the learning curve.

I just figured out how Laz's ability worked. I was getting blown up even as a level 3 because the guy kept reviving dead bodies on the sly. Sneaky sneaky. I'll be eating those bodies next time.

Played a few rounds on PC earlier today.
Neat game, don't know if I'll being going in Day 1, but it's pretty fun.

Anyone get this issue where after every round, the audio will cut out until you go all the way back to the main menu?

Me and my friends are around level 15 or so in the Balpheta, we coordinate in chat and I'd say fairly skilled players. A monster around the same level can be almost fully armored by the time you land and get the first hit in. If it's the Kraken and you dome him (only way to catch monsters really) he can kill you easily at level 1. If goliath he can simply avoid you by running in a circle, or scaling a high point and knocking off anyone who climbs up. The monster when running csn easily create a 200m or so gap by leaping a few times, which means the only way to catch a monster is to have half the team stay ahead and lead him into the dome group. This usually means certain death for the trapper as its a simple matter to kill two players at any level while the rest of the team frantically attempts to catch up. Either the hunters mobility needs to be adressed of the monsters.

The movement buff is completely unnecessary. It's incredibly easy to escape the hunters, people just aren't using their jumps effectively.

Get the feeding perk instead and put at least one point in charge to help move around quickly.
The movement buff is for faster sneaking not the all out escape.

I always put 2 ticks in the charge and grab either flame or rock throw

Balance is fine, people don't know how to coordinate and use their class effectively. I see high level players making noob mistakes all the time. I was playing a game last night as hunter with players who were higher level than me and we all had mics but still made stupid mistakes.

Matchmaking is broken as well so no one should be making any comments on balance right now.

Sneaking can be helpful in some situations but honestly I never use it or need to use it. The hunters are too slow to catch up with me anyway, even without the speed buff.

No one is using tranqs?

Sneaking (I'm only taking about Goliath here) is incredibly useful and necessary against a team with their shit together. It gets you what is essentially an automatic down, ups the fuck with motherfuckers heads factor by heaps.

If you have lazarus you have no tranqs, the monster can also leap throughout the tranq's duration effectively outrunning the group until it wears off. Then get a massive lead again.
If a tranq'd monster is still running circles around the hunters then he's just the better player.

Is your group not using any of their abilities? A level 1 Goliath that gets caught in the dome almost always takes a ton of damage unless the hunters screw up. They shouldn't be running away from you because they should constantly be getting tranq'd and caught with harpoon traps or the harpoon gun.

The trapper should be paired with the support when you split up in groups of two. If you catch it in the dome you should be able to stall for long enough with traps, invis, and the shield.

This game hates me. The only time I have a good run as a Monster the game fucks me over by shutting down on me for no reason and resetting randomly.

We're happy to announce that Evolve Big Alpha is now available to play on PlayStation 4. We appreciate your patience while we worked to overcome difficulties caused by the recent PS4 firmware upgrade. Now it's time to hunt!

As a Goliath-sized 'thank you' for being so patient, we're extending Evolve Big Alpha until Tuesday, November 4th at 12PM Pacific Time (That's 8PM UTC on Tuesday, November 4th).

The game seems to play nicely, but I was really disencouraged to play because all I was doing was running in the wrong direction as a hunter, or flubbing around not knowing what to do as a monster.

If the game is multiplayer only I would have serious problems wanting to stay involved with the game if I ended up buying it.

Tranqs don't affect jumping and stamina recovers at a faster rate in combat. They're useless during a fight. I've lost a lot of matches because the medic was tranqing instead of healing in a fight.

Or you know like I said he almost always climbs to a high point and knock any player down that climbs up. The goliath along with kraken can outrun you even while tranq'd because of their jumps which aren't really slowed down by the tranq.

They aren't useless because they give you vision of the monster for the duration. You can lose 5 or 10 seconds of the dome duration if the monster slips behind a rock or a building and you have to find it.

You shouldn't need an indicator of where the monster is while the dome is up. A tranq every once in a while is fine, but you shouldn't be constantly tranqing him during a fight.

Been playing the PC version and it's a lot of fun. If this is alpha, I have high hopes for the full release, which is great because I initially had none.

Anyone manage to get into a game on PS4 yet? I've been sitting in matchmakimg for 10 minutes, even with no preference selected.

Yeah it broken.

It tells me "Cannot create multiplayer session" "World Not Defined".

After all that PC shit they went through, seems like they just forgot all about it lol.

Had fun in the Alpha (PC) yesterday and today. Not sure if this is a game I will buy, will have to put more time into it.

Still having fun though.

Played this at PAX 2014 Australia.

Seemed really bland. Nothing I haven't seen before. Enjoyable but I didn't feel the need to line up again.

There wasn't any glitches when I played but there were some weird animations.

Played a couple of games in the X1 alpha; reasonably fun, though the monster won both times (I was playing the monster in the second). It seems that unless the whole team of hunters is mic'd up and led by a competent trapper, they're pretty much doomed. 1 or 2 hunters will get wrecked by the monster at pretty much any level, and at 2+ you really do need the whole team coordinating. Even then, though, without the aforementioned trapper, it's really easy for the monster to escape and start feeding again.

Forgot i need Playstation plus to play, does anyone have one of those 14day free trials i can have. I'll trade a PC code for it.. Thanks!

I still find that a tranquilized monster is still easier to manage.

Harpoon traps on the high points help. But I still think it's a skill level gap. A good monster is going to run rings around the hunters unless they're equally skilled. And vice versa. Just had a match where we essentially tranq'd and spanked a Kraken.
