DORITOS Presents: SONY vs. MICROSOFT 2014 THE HYPERBOWLLLLL

Every time I see threads like this I'm reminded of this.

So does this mean the Wii U wins?
But the Rock wins in that episode.

Are you saying...

Yes.

I have no idea who will 'win' November, but the idea it's locked up at this point is absurd. If they really cared to combat the current MS offering, they could, they could bundle KZ, Knack and InFamous as download codes for example, but it's not worth winning at any cost, especially when they have such a strong Q1 prepped. Obviously it's better for momentum to win every month, but not at the cost of a price drop you can't take back later.

Microsoft will destroy Sony in November. Look at amazon best sellers now... No hope for Sony 500k more for xone i think...

Hourly charts?

Thats a noob move. Everyone know hourly charts mean nothing.

Right now titanfall for PC is the top selling video game. TITANFALL TOP GAME IN NPD CONFIRMED!!!

Also we have no clue what the black friday bundles/ deals will be.

It not all or nothing. Winning really doesnt matter. Both will sell a lot in NA.

Gap in the US is 1 million right now.

Nothing Microsoft do is going to make much of a dent in that this Christmas, though I do think Xbox One will perform fairly well in the US.

The PC gaming community has endorsed the Wii-U as its official console and will endeavor to push it to victory.

Hail GabeN and Iwata!

I've said this about 3 times in this thread. There's no point in pushing up sales to the holidays with a temporary price drop if it means cannibalizing them for the rest of the year. I know they're eventually going to put out a Black Friday bundle, and yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if they lost November and December. Maybe if Microsoft's bundles are permanent, then I'd be concerned, but for now, I wouldn't expect some game changing deal. Heck, I don't expect the PS4 to go under $399.

looking at their expected financial results for full year vs Q2 in gaming division, they seem to be expecting lower profit margin... that cant be just in Europe with bundles, it has to be USA as well... question is what and when. I would guess soon.

Something a lot of people don't seem to think about is that consoles sell themselves during holiday season. Sales will be stupid high just by being shopping season. It doesn't really matter that one has a cool exclusive or not because unless for some reason there is oddly low demand or one has waaaayy more demand than the other they're both going to be selling essentially all their stock. ESPECIALLY being year 2 in a new gen.

So much logic. Both consoles will sell like crazy.

Pretty much.

Both consoles will sell well this two months. Just that XB1 will unquestionably have a larger seasonal spike than previously expected, due to their aggressive pricing.

Don't be so sure Microsoft will 'destroy' Sony this month. The $350 bundles will surely help, as well as Halo but that only means November will be a close month. Few reasons:

- Sony can still announce a price drop
- MS has SO, MCC, holiday bundles
- Sony has GTAV marketing, LBP3, possible bundles

They're evenly matched imo, it can go either way. At the end of the day it's a great time to be a gamer.

Lol unfortunately gentlemen, I'm being quite serious. This deal is already showing legs and I expect MS to keep this price point after the holidays. The real question is whether Sony decides to respond or not. As I see it right now from today, Sony is going to legitly lose November.

If these trends continue !!!!

Frankly, I've already seen just about enough. If the hourly rankings hold true through midnight, it's game over for Sony in November.

How is that seen enough? You are two days into the month. You're also talking about the competitor who's lost every single month since the turn of the year. The fuck?

The only thing I am 100% sure about in regards to November NPD is that the results thread is going to be a graveyard the likes of which haven't been seen since the launch window and I plan to sit back and watch the glorious fireworks happen in real time.

It'll be like Christmas came early.

Control + F "banned"

Douftful. Unless we can get real numbers which seems unliky.

We won't need actual numbers for a meltdown. If MS or Sony PR say they were the leading console for the month, it will happen.

We've been getting good numbers from a few members, they just aren't gathered and put in the OP. The last thread was already pretty bad.

I think the November NPD will be the most controversial one all year.

Definitely. The abundance of bundles will allow each side to use the uncertainty to their advantage. The meltdowns will be fantastic.

I'll do my best to behave as i gloat about PS4's victorious results.

I would think the lack of numbers will actually make it worse. Numbers are solid, people may not have liked them but once a number was out there from a trusted source it was hard to dispute.

A lack of numbers is going to leave more room for people to intepret whatever little nuggets can be gleaned from vague PR and the order platforms are listed and such. There's going to be much more effort made to pull whatever tidbit we do get over to one side over another.

NPD threads are never as bad as people predict they will be, even if the results are surprising.

You sure about that?

All the drama from September's NPD was some of the most morbidly entertaining stuff I've ever seen from GAF. My sense of humor is dark, I know.

And let's not forget March.

I think the November NPD will be the most controversial one all year.

Depends.

If MS wins November, it probably won't be a huge deal. I mean, the odds are highly in their favour. Sony is giving MS November on a silver platter.

If Sony wins though.......then yeah. It will probably be the most posted NPD on gaf.

If MS doesn't win November, then I think it is absolutely official that the Xbone will NEVER beat the PS4 and that it would take a miracle for them to even do so.

Looks like Amazon sold though their stock of SSO bundles again. Currently only offered by third party sellers @ 85 bucks over retail.

There is nothing Sony can do in Q1 that would salvage the loss of holiday sales and subsequent momentum. Is Sony going to just pretend that people are going to give each other Christmas presents two months later? That is almost as absurd as pretending people are going to buy a $599 console because it's a PlayStation. You just never know if it's PS2 Sony or PS3 Sony that you're dealing with sometimes.

A price drop is exactly what Sony needs to nail the coffin shut but they can't seem to afford that killer mentality in the face of the mythical "desperate Microsoft."

Seriously, as a Junior, tread very carefully with that kind of stuff. Sometimes it's better to just step back and observe in contentious threads. Mods will ban more liberally than anywhere else when things get nasty and you may find yourself permanently banned for something you viewed as minor. It's better not to risk it.

The NPD thread will be glorious
I will definitely get my popcorn ready for it

I do not know, without the numbers I doubt it will be as bad as we think. Sure MS PR can say hey we won but with this crazy Bundle deal they have going they sure as hell better win.
Now if Sony somehow wins... yeah I can see it taking a pretty nasty turn.

I know!, i'll triple check my posts on said thread, i don't want to get banned... *cowers in fear*

hahah what?

Sony wanted to be in a position to price drop if necessary.

Well, the Sunset Overdrive bundle is now selling at $85 above retail.

Sony, I'd say it's pretty fucking necessary.
