Week of November 3rd to 9th, 2014.
Fighting Games Weekly is the weekly discussion thread for all things fighting games. News, events, streams, videos, players, drama, everything fighting game related.

Every week, FGW will spotlight one GAFer to get a better picture of their history with fighting games, their preferences, and much more. For this week's FGW Player Spotlight, we will be taking a closer look at the Uraizen persuasion!
What fighting games do you currently play, what is your all time favourite and why?
What I currently play is a bit of a hard question to answer. I like to play a variety of them at a time. Every few months I switch it up to prevent fatigue. At the time of this interview Ive been playing a combination of Street Fighter x Tekken and Melty Blood. There are rare nights where I can be seen playing UNIEL and P4U, but I would rather just play something thats ready to go on my PC.
My favorite is Street Fighter III: Third Strike, its the one game I never get bored of or am not in the mood to play.
What are your favorite mechanics from the current selection of fighting games and why? What are your least favorite and why?My favorite is Street Fighter III: Third Strike, its the one game I never get bored of or am not in the mood to play.
Ill try to answer this in two parts since I assume current means ones that recently came out this past generation.
Current Favorite Im fond of the status effects in the Persona games. If done properly, I could see it utilized well in other games. Kind of like how Vorpal gives you extra damage and a Roman Cancel in UNIEL. Just done on a character by character basis instead.
Favorite Overall Parry. There is nothing more satisfying to me in the entire genre. Heres some light reading you should do courtesy of Nyoro SF who finally put into words what I never could: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=136126900&postcount=401
Current Least Favorite Gems. Do I really have to explain? Its not that theyre good, they just serve no major purpose. Get that garbage out of my SFxT if you patch it again, Ono.
Least Favorite Overall Plinking, by far. When you have players modifying their sticks just to make links easier by rewiring a button? No, thank you.

My parents bought me Mortal Kombat games and Street Fighter 2 for me as a kid along with one of those Capcom Arcade Sticks. I couldnt get into either of them, so I would rarely touch them. It wasnt until the Street Fighter Anniversary Collection released here and I got to play 3s for the first time that I got really into fighters. I took a look at the back cover and said wait, they made a third one?! My first reaction was like everybody elses when I played it. I had wondered where all of my favorites went. I eventually warmed up to the new cast, though.
I play mainly fighters and action games. When I say action games, I mean games like Ninja Gaiden Black, Devil May Cry 3, Bayonetta, God Hand, Metal Gear Rising, etc. Very rarely do I enjoy games outside of those two genres.

Oh God, I have to choose just one? There are so many good ones, though! Ill go with Dudley since he was my favorite for years before any of these new games ever came out. I liked his attitude and his cr.hk juggles. Its as simple as that, it doesnt take much for me to like a character.
Describe your style of play, and how do you play (local, online, etc.).
Heh, offline I have to handicap myself if I want to keep my friends playing. So theres no real play style there other than to try and please them.
In general, I play the high risk, high reward characters like Makoto. She happens to be who I play in 3s as well. If there is a character that is unorthodox, a glass cannon, or has a command grab you can combo after, theres a strong chance Ill play them.

My biggest strength is that I am stubborn. If I get beat by someone, I always go into that lab and want that runback badly.
My biggest weakness is that I sometimes laugh off my losses when I should learn from them and that gets me nowhere.
Best and worst moments in the your fighting game career? My biggest weakness is that I sometimes laugh off my losses when I should learn from them and that gets me nowhere.
What career? I spent my childhood getting my ass beat by my friends Jun in TTT at the arcade. Yes, just Jun, I was so bad at Tekken then and Im bad at it now.
I did eventually get better and started beating those that beat me consistently. So I suppose that would be a best moment. I never did get to fight that kid again, though.
What do you want from future fighting games?I did eventually get better and started beating those that beat me consistently. So I suppose that would be a best moment. I never did get to fight that kid again, though.
PC Ports
Better netcode
Simultaneous worldwide releases
Cheaper versions with only online, versus, and practice.
Simultaneous console/PC release with the arcade version if we get the above.
More interesting systems like CvS2s grooves, Meltys moons, UNIELs vorpal, etc.
Almost none of this will ever happen, but I dont care. Its my wishlist and I can list whatever I want.
