First, that Avengers v TDKR thread is always a hilarious read. It's funny and I hate to bring this into the thread but I wanted to discuss it. I was reading an old Avengers vs Dark Knight thread and how people had decided that Nolan was some kind of great visionary and Whedon had no discernible talent and I thought that I'd check what they are critically, not where they are 'people on the internet' and I felt that Metacritic would be best for a quick look (67 for Whedon, 69 for Nolan in case you wondered).
Interestingly enough this resulted in me seeing the score for Agents of Shield season 1 (74, by the way) and as we exist in an ever-present battle of Marvel vs DC I thought I'd check Arrow (73) and I realised how full of shit people are. I've seen the first season of Arrow and saw it after consistently reading how AOS was trash and this was the real-deal, I know people who watch Arrow but they hadn't seen AOS so the comparison was never drawn and all I had to go off of was the internet.
I'll be the first to admit that AOS season 1 left me wanting but realising how critical this thread has been on Gaf and the lack of criticism I saw for Arrow left me feeling as if I had been on the wrong side of the argument critically due to the amount I had been told that AOS was terrible and Arrow was great.
Just thought I'd share my thoughts as I felt like writing it down somewhere.
The CW/WB DC TV shows have a specific audience niche they appeal to and market to.
Second, Yeah, I'd absolutely put Arrow S1 and AoS S1 as being relatively equal, and the critical response bears that out (as you've shown). What's interesting is the huge gap in the user's rating on Metacritic. I think it comes down to expectations. A flagship network show connected to the biggest franchise in movie history is expected to be of a certain quality. On the other hand, Arrow being on the CW and not being connected to any previous properties allows it to get away with an insane amount of cheese. When critically examined, they both came out with equal scores, but, due to these expectations, the public scales one down by 10 points, and the other up by 10 points.
May is going to end up making a man out of Fitz... I'm not giving it a shipping name, there probably already is one anyway.
Note:If last weeks tease of Agent Carter wasnt enough to satiate fans, Marvel has more of Peggy Carter on the way before her own show begins.
Marvel announced that Hayley Atwell will reprise her role as agent Carterin this weeks episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The episode, titled The Things We Bury, will largely revolve around a S.H.I.E.L.D./Hydra showdown, while Ward kidnaps his senator brother, Christian Ward, to revisit the pairs past.
Still, Bury will make time for a Carter cameo and give viewers another glimpse into what shes been up to in a post-Captain America world. Marvel is remaining mum on just how exactly shell play into the episodes events, though its a safe bet shell be as badass she was in her previous appearance this season.
The episode will also include a guest spot from a Marvel-adjacent star, as Lou Ferrigno Jr. will play Agent Hauer in Bury. His father, Lou Ferrigno, the first live-action Hulk, has stayed in the Marvel family, having made a brief appearance in The Incredible Hulk and lent his voice to the green goliath in The Avengers.

- EW: Hayley Atwell's Peggy Carter returning to 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'Note:This episode airs Nov 18th. Not sure why they say it's this week.
Damn. This woman is on fire right now. Her own series also her cameos in AoS, AoU and now Ant-Man too.
I would also imagine that she'll show up for Civil War.
Time travel is a thing.I like seeing her too, but her main problem is that she is stuck 60 years in the past and she can't really interact with the rest of the universe.

So?but you see....we already have Sharon Carter
That'd actually be awesome if they brought her forward in time. It'd have some major ripple effects but I'm sure sure they could work something out.Time travel is a thing.
unless Peggy goes back, she most likely wouldn't exist, and therefore she wouldn't be able to assist Cap in TWS
Time Travel is friggin wild
Send Captain America back in time for AoU?
what, so he can finally peg carter?
/deadwhat, so he can finally peg carter?
At messaging Marvel as we speak.time traveling young peggy to the present day should be a suggestion that is never mentioned to anyone at marvel ever
what, so he can finally peg carter?
I think it's a play on FitzSimmons. I like it better than Mitz anyway.People on Tumblr have no creativity.
Only if it leads to Young Avengers.Cue Kang the Conqueror stepping in
Only if it leads to Young Avengers.
Holy fuck, Young Avengers and Runaways would make fucking fantastic AoS story arcs.
...they would?
Couldn't they just inject her with some alien serum that de-ages her? BAM problem solved. But what about old Peggy?
How old is Christian Ward supposed to be? He looks at least ten years older than Grant in the present day, but only a couple years older in the Well flashback
