To flip this around would a woman pay a man with no experience picking up men to teach them about picking up men? Or would they get more useful information from an experienced women who has been in lots of good and bad dating situations and knows how to play the field?
I think it's a bit different. While men would go to women about picking up a woman, woman would go to a man about finding/keeping a good one. It's the same idea. Women come to me about advice on guys all the time.
So yea, I think everyone would benefit from a class where women teach men good ways to approach women. Especially now to be honest with men walking around thinking that saying "Hello" is harassment. I wouldn't be surprised if these don't start popping up more to be honest.

I don't think banning scumbags like this from venues is the answer- it would just give them the added allure of "forbidden knowledge". It would be better for the material to be freely available to the public, so women can be prepared for it and press charges on guys that actually do some of this stuff to them.

I think I agree with BocoDragon. Internet dating has made "I don't have time to find someone" or "I find it hard to meet women" less of a reason to not meet others. It's much easier to pinpoint someone with the same interests as you.
I don't think the existence of the PUA groups prove the contrary, necessarily.

I think the emergence of PUA culture has introduced a new set of social norms to situations like going to a night club, or wherever else men are expected to approach and initiate. The more these extreme tactics get used by clueless fratboys trying to get laid at any cost, the more "normal", "expected", and socially acceptable they become in that environment. I don't think this bodes well for shy guys who are likely already grappling with anxiety.
I liken this development to the emergence of Ronald Reagan during the 80's, whose conservatism was so extreme that it pushed both parties strongly to the right, forcing future Democrat presidents like Clinton and Obama to make huge concessions to the right. Extreme scores will always influence the mean.

Man you guys are coming down on PUA kinda hard. I've had some success with it. I got started several years ago, back when this shit first gained traction. I had years worth of "What if" and FMR pain holding me back and the art of picking up has helped me get past it. I started out with the Mystery Method, which was alright, it got me into the concepts but after several 2000$ seminars my game is impeccable and I'd honestly advise skipping straight to them. Because learning how to define myself as an alpha and be dominant force in a social situation has helped me endlessly in work and life. I used to stress about other betas getting one up on me, but I'm so alpha now people think I've always had this level of active value. Honestly it helped me build my avatar out to a point where I know I can get any chick by applying my tried and tested methodology.
Once you get started it's hard to stop too, just knowing you can open any set and have success is addictive. I used to rely on wingmen to clear a path to the target but I just cold open anything I want by now. Get kino within 3 minutes, I'll escalate that kino within 5 and I'll be leaving with a new girlfriend in 10 minutes. I can evade shittests in seconds and reply with a neg roll that leaves their head spinning. If they lose interest I will clear that shit before they even finish losing interest, my non verbal and verbal FTC game is that tight. My peacocking is so good I'll walk into a club wearing shit from a thrift shop and I'll still get every chick in there flashing IOI's because I'm wearing a hat that looks beyond good on my head. Like any cult - and I do believe they display many cult indicators - they have a prepared response to any crtiicizm. For women, it's that feminists are an outlier and if it works for Julien, it must be ok (never mind that "works" often equals "scared shitless compliance").
For men, it's that we're "betas" and "average frustrated chumps" who take out our anger about not getting laid on PUAs and alphas.
In my view, and I am very open to other suggestions, public shaming seems to be the most effective means of dealing with the problem. These manipulators have put effort into keeping their subculture off the radar. Even with all of their discussions out on the internet, these men presumably do not walk up to women saying, "Hi, I'm the Prince of Persuasia, would you be interested in hearing some canned lines?".
When the internet shines a hard light on their most disturbing tactics, gets them banned from venues, and calls out individuals like Julien Blanc as sexual predators, these dudes get scared. It makes men involved in the subculture wary of staying there, and it creates such a foul reputation that would-be PUAs avoid this shit all together.
In any case, something has to be done. I think that making this kind of behavior socially unacceptable is the best way to go at it.

What does that have to do with shyness? Internet dating doesn't involve meeting people and getting to know them? Internet dating still takes initiative and confidence, something that truly shy people don't exactly have a lot of. Maybe you have a different definition of shy, I don't know. Internet dating makes it easier to find people, not necessarily easier to deal with them.

It's 1000x more easier to sit there, think of what to say in a message, and hover your finger over the send button until you have courage to do it, than it is to approach strangers in real life.
And it's all text back and forth. You have time to think of what to say in response to each message. You have time to craft a good response. And with enough of this back and forth, you know quite a bit about each others' personality, making actual IRL meetings so much less frightening.
It basically sidesteps 90% of the problems shy men have had throughout history.

I completely agree. After coming out of a long term relationship, I decided to give the online dating thing a shot. I always considered myself a pretty shy dude and conversing with random women in public was not really a thing I did.
It's actually been a very positive experience and made me more outgoing in a lot of ways.

Thanks. I mean I kind of expected people to like my post, internet posting is just like running game really. I was just trying to show a few of you average frustrated chumps what it's like to be a real alpha male. Don't get me wrong it's a tough road, I didn't just wake up my alpha'd out, master pua self. I had to put it real work perfecting my art. I crashed and burned into so many bitch shields I lost count the first few years. Once you refine your particular style though you can become a deadly seduction machine. I went from the terrible stuff I was doing to creating an exotic blend of Asshole Game/Cocky Funny Game/Enigmatic game. Once you get good you can literally run game so fast it's funny. I used to run this scattershot approach where I'd run through a whole range of techniques in the hopes one of them would work. I feel bad for the chicks I ran through some of them, well I would but they're chicks anyway, so who cares. I'd spent half the night stealth scoping chick trying to find out what they look like when norming so I could get a good cold read on her. I'd do silly palm reading shit and all of that.

This shit right here is part of why PUA is so popular: the fact that the only other advice out there is "just be yourself and it will happen!"
The fact of the matter is, for some guys (and girls) it doesn't just "happen naturally and spontaneously." They need help. And yeah, the whole "just do whatever and things will totally work out somehow!" can be placating for a few years, but when your patience runs out you start looking for real advice.
And while PUA definitely has problems, it also has some good stuff. Advice that's actionable. A community of people who understand your frustration. Sympathy, rather than insults and patronizing non-advice.
