SRK has a weight lifting thread. Not sure how active it is since the hideous update to the forums.

Anything more than $5 for DLC characters is gouging. Capcom had the best pricing for their DLC characters in SFxT and in SF4 updates the DL update that included characters was at a good price too.

Tag 2 and SG had the best pricing

I'm not mad to have to pay for a character, but nothing beats free

I just spent $120 on a figure yesterday.

With a bunch of the other big threads in gaming getting moved to community, how long until FGW follows?

Skullgirls' DLC was crowdfunded though, and if I'm not mistaken wasn't all of Tag 2's DLC on disc but simply time-locked?

What's your point? You think they couldn't charge for crowdfunded DLC? The funds have to come from somewhere, what's it matter that they came from fans?

Even if DLC is on the disc, that doesn't mean companies won't charge you for it.

SFXTK DLC characters were also all on disc and people had to wait what? 6 months before they could use those characters after paying for them. Silly Capcom.

Shouta will protect us. He wouldn't let them throw us to the wolves, right?

I just meant Skullgirls was a unique case. I forgot the reason why they did it this way, though. Maybe I should ask Ravi about it.

And I don't really think we should consider companies generous for not charging us for on disc DLC.

Yeah, and that helped ruin the future of the game. A shame as it was really fun.

I know y'all won't care, but gonna be taking a leave of absence to focus on school starting tomorrow (as long as Shouta complies with my request)

I'll miss you guys ;~;

It does matter when individual codes cost them money. It was either make them free or use some of that crowdfunded money to get codes to give to backers instead of more content.

People really need to get over this idea about paying for DLC on the disc. It's on its own budget not tied to base game meaning it wasn't removed, it saves money putting most of the work on the space left instead of hosting the whole thing, waiting until after the game is out is not possible since people are going to get moved to new projects once their part is complete and bringing the same group back to work together again requires schedules to lineup again and it's proven DLC sales are lower the further they are from release.

Thanks!

Press F to Charging Star in my absence!

The worst part is you can still read the forum :P
FIGHT THE TEMPTATIONS

I'll do my best! I figure if I have to log out to read it, it'll deter me on my phone for sure, and probably at least a degree on my computer. If need be I'll mess with my OCD and exit out of a bunch of tabs that are on GAF

Best of luck, you will be in our prayers

Thank you Enzo, hopefully I'll be back soon with good news and not bad

It has everything, plus an exclusive skin for Black Adam.

Not everything, you need to connect a WBID to the game to get some skins (Lockdown Superman, Batman Beyond, Arkham City Harley Quinn, etc.) including the Black Adam New 52 Skin.

It's easy to have a reasonable price on the DLC when it's all finished and on the disc, there's no extra man hours or anything that DLC sales helps with.

I would probably get this if I didn't experience the sense of shame

My Dizzy is still in the box in my closet

Maybe i'll put her on my desk when I get my own place

in a room that I'll lock the door to when I have people over

There are extra man hours because instead of moving personnel to the next project, Capcom kept them around to make more SFxT content. Even if it overlaps with the game development timeline, you move people who are done with their part to other games/projects not leave them doing nothing.

Dunno why people ask for a temp ban when you STILL HAVE THE INTERNET.
This doesn't make sense, just because your spending less time on one thing doesn't mean you will go out of your way to fill up the time your cutting out. Especially if there aren't many other places you frequent.

They didn't make more content though, they made all the content during the main development period and then, when the game was certified, they were all able to move on because there was no DLC or anything to work on for the most part.

They're not done with their part though if there part is to "make these characters" which, again, is all done during the main dev period. Most times games are done weeks, maybe a couple months in advance of the release date as they have to go through certification, pressing, shipping, and all that nonsense. During this time a lot of teams start going heavy into their DLC development which is extra work for more content on the complete game. This is why you see dlc available a couple weeks after release or sometimes day one (though that tends to be more taking away content than adding content after the game is done).

What SFxT did was have these characters done, locked them out, and sent it in for certification. The people making the "DLC" characters were working on and completed it during the development of the main game, this doesn't count as extra hours to me.

Bet it's less active than "The Hot Asian Girl Thread 17"

stay classy SRK

Because when they got done with the not DLC characters, they continued working on DLC characters instead of moving on to new projects. Make not DLC characters -> do nothing or move on -> come back and make more content is bad planning and wasteful.

The price of the game covers all not DLC expenses and making a profit, the price of the DLC covers the DLC expenses + making a profit. The budget looks like $X for the game, you have $Y to spend for the base game and $Z to spend for DLC. You and your development team have ## months to complete the project.

I'm one actually. Have a glass case full of questionable decisions orz

I'm one. I have a bunch of figures.

Not a lot of money for them lately though. And that Mu is a bit too much even for my tastes >.>

I just spent $120 on a figure yesterday.

Oooh this is pretty rad. I never knew that there were figure collectors here

Yeah, if Mu looked like this I'd be more tempted to buy one.

Did you visit the cre-err Figure gaf thread?

I just go for berserk and jojo stuff, which they don't talk about a lot :V
and Idolm@ster for yayoi but dassit

Isn't it just as possible that they worked on every bit of the game, including the "DLC" characters, all at the same time? All we have are assumptions, I'm operating under the assumption that all content was being worked on at the same time, all the information was put on the disc, then code was added that locked out those 12 characters until you downloaded the 100kb unlock code. You're under the assumption that they finished the original characters, then were told to begin working on the DLC characters. The reason I find your assumption less likely is that all moves, trials, voice work, prologues and everything was done. That means that main development was completed SO fast that they were able to completely finish and incorporate 12 more characters before submitting it for certification.

I'm your typical FG player. Figures are nice, but I don't have the money for figures.
Yeah if I had a ton of indispensable income, I'd probably get a shit ton of figures. Just barely escaped the Gunpla vortex, so yeah I'm careful of even lurking the FigureGAF thread.

$5 seems pretty fair, considering that these character's aren't part of the initial game development. They could just save new character ideas for Ultra style updates so they can be cheaper but then the wait will be too long.

Yeah, it's pretty much the girl figure/Nendoroid collector's thread now. Used to be more diverse a few years ago.

Gunpla can be addicting. Good thing I now decided to color them, which means that I'll never buy a new model until I complete my current ones.

You're saying it's done at the same time, I'm saying they're different budgets and they are not coming back when everything is done to do DLC.

It's irrelevant if they did all the characters and then decided which to be DLC or one after the other; same time period, 12 of those characters were made on the DLC budget. Besides that, the DLC characters were incomplete when people forced unlocked them.

I have a half-painted ReBawoo model sitting here for 4 months now. (Hand) painting is very time consuming.

Not to mention I still have an MG Delta Plus unopened.. which I also intended to hand paint but fuck that now.
