Fighting Games Weekly | Nov 3-9 | Tekken Our Jobs

Lethal League, made known by being the final game in the UFGT 9 Mystery tournament, is currently on sale(50% off). In case anybody was waiting for a sale.

In case anybody is worried about the netcode, it's using GGPO. It's heavily MP oriented so the meat lies in online. Sadly it doesn't have a lobby mode.

Coinciding with the new update introducing a 6th character Dice including a stage, taunts, 2 new tracks, the new mode Striker and some balance changes.

Some impressions on the new stuff:

Dice uses ping pong paddles, obviously has different angled shots and a parabolic shot as a special. His special movement is Super jump which gets activated by jumping while crouching.

The new stage has a low ceiling and is a little bit wider than the average.

The newly introduced Strikers mode has the goal of hitting your opponents target which is on the wall, akin to Air-Hockey. Both characters are invincible to attacks in this mode.

The simplest solution to this is playing games instead of buying them.

The simplest solution would be waiting for sales, if he really wants them. I've already seen some of those on sale. Playing them is another issue.

If you're planning on getting Lethal League, I'd suggest getting in touch with one of the foreign Steam traders like dmix90 who are active on GAF. He's charging $5/$7/$11 for a 1/2/4-pack during this sale, respectively.

Pretty big news in regards to WNF
@SuperDojo: It is now official. @SuperDojo and @levelupseries have parted ways. We wish nothing but the best for @AlexValleSF4 in his future endeavors.
@SuperDojo: We will still be hosting and streaming weekly tournaments but haven't decided on a name yet. Wanna help out? Send us your ideas on twitter!

Super Dojo will come away from this slightly scathed, but WNF and LevelUp shot themselves in the foot.

I mean, if Super Dojo starts doing their own thing you have a newly renovated arcade vs some guy's basement.

We all know how that turned out (house of crack and the death of marvel on EC)

i wonder if people are more attached and/or loyal to WNF and valle or super arcade and watts.

weird decision though no idea what coulda brought it about...didnt valle bring tons of entrants and sponsors to super arcade?

Seems so weird they would separate, they need each other.

Me personally, I was going to WNF before it was at super arcade. It did have more room when it was at random casino ballrooms. And I didn't have to drive out to walnut.

What happened for those that missed this?

idk i heard about it through this guy on r/kappa

Summary of events/topics so far:
There is a 99.9% chance Daigo is not going to Moment #37 Reloaded and Watts is offering a refund to those who made plans to go to the event specifically because of Daigo if Daigo does not show up. Jokes that if Daigo gets eliminated early from Topanga that there might be a chance Daigo will show up.

Communication between Watts and MarkMan was very poor, and the reason Daigo is not attending Moment #37 Reloaded is not completely known.

Angry, shocking statements that detail the grudge between Mr. Wizard and Watts along with a string of examples of Mr. Wizard's douchebag behavior over several years (including the fact that Mr. Wizard stole "the key" to arcade cabinets in the past to get free games and that Moment #37 Reloaded was supposed to be a partnership with EVO but fell through cause Watts was mislead). Mr. Wizard gets off on the fact that he has power because he runs EVO, and he uses this power to slight Watts at any chance he gets. Watts asked MarkMan if his relationship with Mr. Wizard would affect Moment #37 Reloaded.

Watts's thoughts on the status of the FGC and where it should and should not be going (esports, tournament fees, etc.).

Watts covers past EVO's and EVO 2014.

Watts was mislead by Mr. Wizard during the Cannon Awards at EVO 2014 (I won't ruin the story for you because Watts told it pretty well, but it involves Watts's history of putting dudes on blast).

Appearance by Pushatee's wife to pick up the check from the fundraiser.
"Thank you" by Pushatee's wife will be posted on /r/Kappa.

Competition with local arcade (UGC) involving Justin Wong and Floe (Justin's in chat to join conversation about this topic). UGC posted advertisement for their MVC2 tournament in Super Arcade essentially saying don't go to Super Arcade and go to our tournament instead for which Justin and Floe will be attending. Justin says in chat that he did not confirm he was going and told UGC "maybe" only.

Regarding "changing the FGC": The divide between those who want the real FGC and those who want to go esports may be deeper moving forward.

Even though Watts was extremely angry and put everyone on blast, he said that he was actually holding back overall.

I don't think esports or the "real" fgc really matters. At the end of the day it is pretty much the same thing unless you want to argue about presentation style.

What will probably be important is either changing the leadership of EVO, or moving to a different event. You can't argue with success, but I don't think it will be able to go to the next level as things are and that is what "going esports" really means. It is a change in leadership.

What is the next level? What's wrong with how the cannons run it? You want watts to run evo?
