It's been exactly 2 months since Destiny launched - what are your thoughts on it?

After 314 hours and 3 level 30 characters, I still enjoy doing Nightfalls, Raids and helping others. Playing this game with a group of friends is awesome and a ton of fun.
It's not a perfect game. In fact, Destiny have some serious issues, but I find it a very fun game to play and a game with a good gunplay.

Highly addictive but flawed game. Has a good foundation to build on for a sequel. Hope Bungie listens to the criticism and understands where Destiny fell short and work on ways to fix it.

I just posted this in the main thread:

My nephew is LVL 26 and has only done parts of the Vault of Glass. Meaning he has done the first area twice and the Gorgon area but not Atheon or the Templar. He has played it a total of 4 times.

He has 3 pieces of raid armor and an exotic weapon.

I've done the whole raid over 15 times.
I've never gotten anything but ascendant shards.

That and many other things make me loathe the game but...

Playing with a group of friends and family it is still tremendous fun. Yet I can't help but feel that the game has become a form of Stockholm Syndrome for me.

A solid foundation for what could be a fantastic series. It was fun to play but a lack of content, paper thin story, and RNG hold it back. A sequal could easily mend these problems.

What I want to see personally, is more worlds that feel robust and huge. I want the game to at least "feel" ambitious. Also, more unique weapons and armor to make things more personal when building my character.

Yeah, Bungie definitely has to step their game up when designing a "story" campaign. Same repetitive structure through out, not much exposition on your opposition, unless you go through Grimoire Cards (which you have to access Bungie's site, which is dumb). Loot and leveling need serious work, so I hope Bungie is really listening to their fans, because right now they aren't doing a very good job at addressing the actual issues with the game. Too busy trying to figure out how to fix the cheese. Forget the cheese, man.

Bought it digital but Microsoft gave me a refund on it.

I was disappointed with the campaign, unbalanced multiplayer, grind gameplay, and repetitive coop.

Finished the raid about a month ago and haven't touched it since. Severely lacking in PVE content and the PVP wore quickly on me what with all the cooldown kills and lag.

Unfortunately I'm already on the hook digitally for the DLC.

Traded it in after they announced that giant rip off of an expansion pack. Using the base games sparse content as an excuse for putting out an expansion pack of that miserable size is abusing the consumers good will. You could tell it was rip off because there was a huge thread about Xbox owners getting "scammed" by having to "pay the same price but get less content". Exclusive deals have been around for years now, but it's only a problem now? It's only a problem because there's nothing in it.

I sincerely hope it is a failure, a business model that promotes gouging your customers like that cannot and should not be successful. Bungie should be ashamed.

Waste of time, pretty much free to play mechanics in full game, with no way to "buy your way through" either.

Got refund for it from Microsoft, don't regret it.

Needs more content and updates badly. Bungie really dropped the ball on this one.

That said, greatest 6/10 game I've every played.

Had a blast playing with my friends, but having made the decision not to buy the expansions with Dragon Age coming out I now feel bored logging in. Like, I beat VoG and could keep doing it to get the last piece of raid armor and get Lv30, but honestly who gives a shit?

It's a fantastic game to play hammered, though.

Im not playing it anymore, so thats a pretty good answer I think.

Though it did have fantastic weapon sounds / feedback and handling.

Everything else not so much...

I played the alpha and played the beta with some friends, I was going to buy it day 1 but something told me to hold back and see how it pan out. Turns out doing that was the best choice since most of my friends got bored of it quickly and wouldn't shut up about it in college.

Yup, the RNG is balls. I've done the raid about 10 times and i JUST (today) got 2 armour drops. Before today all i got was Ass Shards/Energy (and a weapon and a titan mark).

Fuck RNG

And I still can't believe Bungie, the former king of console multiplayer, made that forgettable, garbage, "competitive" multiplayer. It's not good at all.

Played it and beat it. Shelved it after 40 hours to wait for improvements. Mybfriend has 250 or so hours in it and is still far from a Platinum. No way I will play it that long. Good shooting engine, weak story, multiplayer maps, multiplayer modes, and amount of content.

Bruce, man, it's time to let go.

I've been distracted by Sunset Overdrive, but it's still one of the most satisfying gaming experiences I've had in ages. Encounter to encounter it's fantastic, and the world building in every environment is just a consistent jawdropper.

It's a solid game lacking content.

I beat the raids several times and thought, "This is going to be it until DLCs, and I'm not buying the DLCs."

So I stopped playing.

I've enjoyed my time with it, and I'll play the DLC when it releases. I thought the story was fine, but more than anything it's just fun to play. If there's something that Bungie understands it's good gunplay.

That said, I doubt I'll put much time in (aside from doing the DLC) when Halo: MCC releases.

Lack of post release support and failure to deliver on promised content has pretty much tanked it for me. Thanks to their bullshit changes to Aetheon I don't even care to raid so I never have even the slightest desire to play it anymore. Massive disappointment. I had such high hopes for the game.

I reviewed it and GTFO.

I'm not sure what happened, everyone seemed to love it based on the Alpha and Beta - nothing but praise. I think the hype was too astronomical, the marketing didn't really convey the entire game properly.

The presumption in beta and alpha was that it was just a snippet of the full game. Instead, it was directly indicative of what the entire, claustrophobic, content-weak experience would be.

It singlehandedly destroyed any confidence I have in pre-ordering or going digital for any game in the future for fear that they could be as much of a failure as Destiny.

Without a doubt, Destiny is one of the 5 most disappointing games I have ever played. Definitely not the worst, but just a ridiculous disappointment.

Played a ton. Finally burnt out. Waiting for the DLC before doing more.

Stuck at level 29, and CoD came out so I've been on that.

Most likely will retire it once I have a Xbone for MCC on Christmas or later next year.

Great game, lots of faults, and I hope Destiny 2 lives up to more of what we wanted from Destiny 1. Although, if the Division hits gold on its first attempt then I won't care much sadly. :(

Halo's out in 24 hours and I wont be popping back on Destiny until its DLC.

I enjoy the game and have put 300 hours into it, but I'm done being strung around by Bungie every Friday. I don't feel like they understand the game they created or the feedback the fans have given them. If they do, they aren't being transparent enough about their intentions for me to "stick it out". It also doesn't help that their website has been chaos for over a year now.

I have no doubt it'll be a better game in 6-12 months from now. Bungie fans used to have to wait 6 months for patches, so perhaps they're just overwhelmed. Nevertheless, if they want me to wait for the game to be "finished", they're going to need to leave orbit and come down to earth with their PR.

Switched it out to play Garden Warfare when I have serious time to play games these days. I'm really disappointed in the final product. There are a lot of things I don't like about it.

Fun gun play, good art style, the raid is cool, everything else about it is crap. Still play it because friends do, mindless coop while talk happens.

As an mmo gamer, I have to be honest, I have gotten a shameful pleasure out of hearing/seeing shooter fans experiencing their first true RNG/lockout scenario.

Still playing. Still enjoy the raid runs even after multiple completions. Like looting and leveling up stuff. Don't care for PvP that much and hate RNG for never get what I want or need. Story is crap. Met a lot of cool people from GAF and the game with many memorable experiences. So overall still taking my time.

They promised too much. It is a decent $60 game in my opinion but the story needed to be so much better. Hopefully they fix it soon.

I thought the beta was fun, but the game itself wasn't. Just very repetitive and some what bland. Sadly haven't touched it since September.
