Official HaloFest Thread | We're so f**cking tired of shooters...and #butts

Stream went down at the right time.
hah - just as I turned it off anyhow. Want to watch Nightfall tomorrow and in full quality. The PC stream wasn't nice enough to watch a feature, even though I have very low expectations for Nightfall. CG > Live action any day.

What I like:
Thrusters
Ground Pound
Ledge Grab
If they act like how they are being described, They seem like they have the potential to actually add something to the game. I fail to see how Ledge Grab could go wrong because it adds an element of skill to the game. Thrusters will likely work because its not full out jet pack and will only be used to extend jumps. Ground Pound seems like it has enough drawbacks and will turn into a humiliation kill type thing.

Conflicted:
Sprint
Having sprint not regen health seems like it may fix that feature, but up until now every time Sprint has been attempted in Halo it has been absolutely terrible. I'm going to be watching this closely.

Hate:
ADS
Yes, I know that its just aesthetic, but I can't perform my suspension of disbelief knowing how the weapon is suppose to integrate with the Mjolnir Armour Systems. It feels wrong and I don't like it.

Meh:
Prophets Bane
Its just the Energy Sword finally getting a name.

Watching the pros play....it looks exactly like fucking Halo. At first I was worried it would be CoD, but now I'm disturbed we've been playing the same shit for years. Forget MCC Midship, Halo 5 Midship is just a higher fidelity of the same game 8 or so years ago. You have the odd sprint here and there, and a thrust around the corner, but other than that, its still sticking BR shots, chucking grenades and controlling the map.

Anyone worried about these changes for H5 should be relieved, if you aren't, quite frankly, I'm afraid for your mental health that you really want a carbon copy of the games you've been playing for years.

I just feel really indifferent about it. I feel like I'll never use it.

Like how many of you that have played COD: AW use the ground pound/know it even exists? You don't. You use double jump and lateral thrust pretty exclusively.

Having an ability that can one hit kill someone just doesn't feel right, your probably right and there is a beta after all....... if its terrible hopefully its removed.

I found it amusing that no one even bothered to use the ADS for the assault rifle.

That was comforting at least.

A lot of stuff, is not for experienced players, but shouldn't interfere with their play style. "piñata" being a good example.

Not the biggest fan of the climbing. Feel like it gets rid of skill jumps. I wasn't a big fan of the ground pound at first, but after seeing it's not an AoE and you stay put in the air for a second makes it seem fair. The new zoom/ADS is little jarring at first, but I felt like I was already getting used to it by the end of the match. Overall I thought it looked pretty awesome. Still aboard the H5 hype train. Looking forward to Dec. 29th.

Question: does this guy work for 343?

Yes. This is him on the left from a few years ago.

If the community bitch enough about it, they'll probably remove it. So we gotta let them hear us :)

Sprint, ADS, dash, ground pound, ledge grabbing (wtf?), shitty movement speed..
Yeah, I'm out.

Something tells me most of this comments come out of people that weren't even in to begin with.

Also nightfall doesn't look as terrible as it thought it would, mm weird.

Thanks. I'm not entirely opposed to what I saw tonight and I was happy to hear kill streaks were gone and equal starts were in.

I do like how you have to press a button to climb, though.

Hey frank, will there be a dedicated forum for beta feedback? Like an official beta forum meant for feedback? Sort of like "H5betafeedback.com" or something.

Beta looks interesting. Cant say anything solid until I play it for myself. Looks a lot like Halo 4 except that everyone is basically on equal ground with each other. I'd like to see some slower gameplay in a larger map. The smaller maps always speed things up a lot. In general it's super fast, though. Dunno how I feel about that. I'm actually happy to see Midship made a little larger.

The little rocket boost is interesting. People are always clamoring for more strafing. Well now strafing will be an even bigger part of the game.

The new reticles look really cool. I'm not so hot on climbing. After seeing it in action, it isn't bad but I miss normal skill jumps.

Not feeling negative but not feeling overly positive either. I'm more in a "wait and see" state of mind!

It turned into an arena shooter like Quake or UT all of the sudden.

Which is the path that Halo 2 and Max Hoberman set it on years ago. Halo used to be Blood Gulch and Sidewinder and now it's Lockout and Midship. What's the surprise?

Some video game fans are the worst. It seems like all some of them ever want is the same game remade over and over with no new gameplay mechanics.
