Man, the level design of The Hinterlands is an absolute masterpiece. Just top shelf stuff. The layout and detail of the world is easily Bioware's finest.
Absolutely, Origins is bland and shallow by comparison. They've knocked it out of the park, I've only played 5 hours so far and I couldn't put the controller down. Makes me excited for the future of Dragon Age and Mass Effect.
Soooo, GAF confirms Bioware is back?
Bioware is back baby.
well paddle my bottom and call me Gladys - I've got AC Unity to laugh at, GTA V to replay in first person, Far Cry 4 to ride elephants and then all within a week Dragon Age Inquisition to eat up hours and hours. If not for the mess that is Unity it would be a magnificent end of the year gaming wise for me. Ah bugger it and paint me yellow its still a magnificent end of year.
See you next year then, that's quite a meaty collection you've got there/ All massive games, especially if your a completionist. I have a similar amount of games to get through including Sunset, Unity, MGS:Ground Zero and Dragon Age.

So on PC when is the earliest this unlocks? I think some one said Hong Kong. SoftEther doesn't have a HK server I think. Any recommendation?

This looks like it's going to be fantastic! It's really pushed Witcher 3 into the background for me now, theres a lot of time for it to regain my interest though.

Hey guys, will I enjoy this game if I enjoyed the Mass Effect series? I tried playing Skyrim and hated it, i dont really have the patients to grind and find pieces for armor etc. I enjoy light rpg elements like in Mass Effect and a good story. Will this be a good fit for me? Or should I stay away from this?

Basically I want to be able to go through the experience without looking for items all the time or go on infinite quests (I enjoy doing a few) etc.

Being on the weekend shift after being off Thursday/Friday keeps making me think it is now Monday. I'm not enjoying the realisation of it being only Saturday.

Local stores are selling the copy but I cannot even preload from PSN.

Fuck you, Sony.

Where are you and what store, may I ask?

I think you should be fine. It's it's anything like it's predecessors, it's heavily focused on dialogue/story elements, and you won't spend time leveling up blacksmith, picking 1k locks or anything like this. It is RPG lite to medium bodied as far as I am concerned. You will still need to dedicate some time to complete it however, potentially 25-40+ hours depending on play style. Bioware has made some ridiculous claims on number of hours to see all content.

Didn't Dawg clock something like 80 hours and still had feeling that he didn't find and see everything?

Perfect fit, you'll love it. Main quest only is still a long game tho.

Can someone explain why the character has double hands in this clip?

To do with the ripple effect in the background? It's quite noticeable.

Really? it doesn't make sense at all...

Why not?

Only Russia and Poland have language locked EA games for some stupid reason. Game from e.g. Mexico is international copy and will be installed in your Origin clients language. Just like when I preloaded DAI yesterday, Mexico copy, I got en_GB EULAs and VO files.

He actually clocked in 95 hours by the ending credits.

Pffff... he clearly rushed through the game :/

I would say that it's caused because of heat distortion caused by fire.

So I watched Giant Bomb Unprofessional Fridays and they quickly showed the multiplayer menus. Basically potions don't refresh and you have to use the only currency you get for playing the MP to buy new potions? But that same currency is used to buy new stuff? I can't see myself ever buying potions to waste precious resources I need to buy stuff, but that also means the parties I join are always crippled from the start because I never have potions. Did I get this right?

That's what free-to-play mechanics do to a game, I guess.

Naw, it's cool. It's the mindset of potion conservation from the single-player and ME3 multi. And you have different types of chests you can buy. Basically, there's gear only, potions only, and gear/potions. Plus, even if you play a shitty round on the lowest difficulty and wipe halfway through, you'll still have enough gold (usually) to buy at least one chest.

Ultimately, it depends on how balanced the gold you earn and the volume of the chests is. From what I've seen in the streams, it looks promising, but everyone will have their own opinion once they get their hands on it.

Okok, I didn't know you were talking about Russia and Poland. My bad.
So, just to be clear, I have the Origin client from Spain. Bought the mexican digital version so it will be preload in spanish no matter if I do it using a korean VPN.

DA:I's Gamerankings score is almost same as DA:O's even though the critics are much harsher these days. Mother of God we are dealing with a masterpiece here.

Do you want it to be in Spanish?

That asked it should ask you what language files you want to install if game supports multiple languages, but for some reason it didn't ask with DAI. Just installed en_GB files to which my Origin client is set as language.

If its any consolation I have downloaded my client from Finnish Origin site and just set language to en_GB. I hate Finnish translated programs, fuckers literally butcher my language and laugh while doing it :(

Not sure if it's been detailed before, but is there support for the dualshock 4 (icons and so on) in the PC version?

DS 4 isn't officially supported pad by Windows and requires you to use driver wrapper so it is identified as Xbox pad in order for it to work.

Simple answer: PC version doesn't officially support DS4, but you can get it to work.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I use the ds4 for most games on my pc, using the wrapper. But it's annoying seeing abxy button icons in the UI instead of ps button mappings. FF14 and a few other games allow you go change the icon sets.

You get potions from the normal item chests as well.

To be honest I never paid a cent for ME3's multiplayer and was able to get plenty of stuff. It didn't feel artificially harder to get stuff to force you into paying.

Anyone able to help, using UltrasurfVPN but once I start the preload, I close the VPN as per advice in the thread, but then I get a 0mbps speed... :/

Do you have to leave the VPN on for a certain amount of time to get it to the point you can turn the VPN off?

Have tried it a few times now, if I leave the VPN on i'm getting 100kbps or something similar...I'll be downloading for days :p - rather get normal 1mbps at least speeds if poss!

Let it download at least few MB, preferably closer to 10 MB, before closing VPN connection. If still wont work then try different VPN client, a lot of people had success with FlyVPN and SoftEther VPN.

I used the SoftEther VPN and left it on for a min +/- before turning it off and the speeds went back to normal.

Not really sure what happened, but after reading a few reviews and checking out the GAF Lore thread, I'm feeling the hype. Stopped about halfway through Origins and never played DA2, but the lore has finally grabbed me. The core world design and history for this game is way more in-depth than I realized, I've had a great time reading through the wiki entries (the in-depth timelines for each age are INSANE).

Also really looking forward to seeing Morrigan again, even if her appearance is limited. She's a great character.

I watched many hours of MP.

You get loot (gear, weapons, class unlocks, potions) from random chests, and random things like the breakables and killing things I think. It's a random chance at loot (gear, which can also unlock a class).

The thing about potions is you may want to save them at all costs until the last fight (if you need to use them there). On the way to the last fight you will run across a item that replenish the whole team's health and raise people. Us this to your advantage, maybe even passing it and going back to it when your team need the health. Your team don't need to be close to it for the effect to benefit them. So there are about 4 of these health replenishers before the last event. Play smart.

At level 1 you may feel like you should chug potions often if you don't realize how the dungeons work. Like I said it's better to wait for those checkpoints for the free heal and everyone to raise each other than to use your valuable potions. As you get better levels which gets you better abilities you will feel like you depend on potions a lot less.

Medium chest with the random items + random potions is the thing I will be aiming for mostly. One of the reasons to get the all potions chests is for the defensive and offensive potions (jar of bees!) and in case you just want to stock up on health potions.

Edit: Also as the Bioware MP lead designer said on a stream yesterday, buying platinum to get more loot/potion chests does not make the game any easier. You have the same chance at getting stuff you don't want as you do when you do a run and get some currency for a chest, or random loot from killing stuff. You also don't get exp from buying chests with real money.
