Was there something on the line? Perhaps the exhibition should have came to an early stop from the sound of things. But for the most part it sounds like a pride thing.

I think it was one of those DL things where they have players enter their name for future exhibitions. Then they decide on 2, thinking which 2 players/characters would make for a cool set. Someone can correct me though since that thread I vaguely recall was from a long while ago.

So tournaments are about training and learning matchups now?

Huh, I thought that's what you're supposed to do before going to a tournament.

Ah in that situation it would be dickish to do those things as it goes against the nature of the set.

No, it was a learning experience. All of those tournaments were for learning and a bit of fun. If the other player wanted to back out fine, but they deserved the respect to at least have had it played out.

A lot of those netplay events were for fun and for learning. My personal hope was those players would "graduate"(they did, one of those players won Rebel Up last night) and move to offline events or be more comfortable. A lot of the better players even opted not to enter at some point and to just help out. Trying to raw IK and mess with people basically is just putting them down and people weren't okay with one player consistently putting down others, so they gave him the boot.

But ya know, it's about switching chars and "oh my god, we didn't like how he played so we gave them boot." No, it's about somebody with a repeated pattern of behavior ruining the experience for others. I don't expect to have any fans but whatevs.

Why do we have so many drive by posts from regulars in these threads?

I don't quite remember if I put my name down on a list for this one or not, actually. I'm pretty sure there were no character restrictions or lists put in place, though, or else I would have stuck to the same one.

One thing that our local FGC used to do years ago, but probably isn't doable unless the best players have spare income, as for those players to not enter the tourney, but instead be bonus MMs at the end, where it's only their money on the line, and you get money for each win. Usually 2-3 folks would do this, though most of the time they ended up not having to lose any money.

Yeah I can understand that Anne.

I'm mostly just letting how I handle things sway my feelings about stuff a bit I guess. I personally don't view stuff like that as disrespectful I view it as a challenge to step it up. Hell I'll sit there and lose 50 matches straight even if the other person is dicking around it just means I'm not good enough to stop them from dicking around and that's on me to learn enough to stop them from playing that way.

Then again this sounds like it all happened in persona and that's a pretty shitty game with nothing to learn in the first place! Kappa

Reminds of the bounty system that was done for Virtua Fighter at Super Arcade. Too bad it didn't really gather new players, but I guess it helped those that were semi-new and committed.

Don't get butt hurt.

I've been reading thru these threads since forever. I just don't post much. Most of the time what's being talked about in the weekly threads don't interest me or I have nothing to say.

Shocking I know. But contain yourself if you can.

I think it's more important to keep players than it is to bring new players in who won't stay.

Yup, it's actually gets you new players that way as well just very slowly while maintaining a steady playerbase.

Edit: Also I'm freezing cold, I burned my mouth with hot coco, and all my joints hurt. GOD DAMN THIS MORNING SUCKS

More or less. The problem more or less arose from players feeling like they'd been bullied, like "I know he can beat me but why does he have to try and embarrass me?" Persona (especially netplay) was a pretty small scene, so having one person putting people down over and over again can be pretty destructive. Especially after it had been pointed out and every time we got the same response of "just how I play" when we see him fight stronger players and not pull that shit. I'll admit that a couple people went way too hard on him once it hit a point of "this is too much", but it doesn't change the fact it was still shitty.

I don't really want to continue discussing this here, but I had never been pointed out the problems people had with the way I played, and I never replied with "just how I play" any other time. I'm not stubborn; if people have a problem with it, I'll stop doing it. I appreciate advice, and I don't want to make matches unpleasant for other people. That's how I am. I dunno if that's what you guys kept discussing about me behind the scenes whenever you saw me play, but I was never once told about it until people started personally insulting me out of nowhere.

lol ok pal

Just try and actually read and understand the point to which the conversation has progressed before posting your 2 cents is all

Good rule of thumb for life in general. Not just this thread

Since we were talking about Canada earlier a bit in this thread, here in Ottawa there will be a tournament called Super Gonq Battles this Saturday:

https://www.facebook.com/events/1519450478272671/

Ottawa probably has the best GG and Skullgirls player in Canada. So those games are for sure to get a lot of love on the stream. I'll post a link closer to the date. I'll be there for Tekken. I'm super rusty so I'll most probably get wrecked by Montreal :P

Actually your problem is you think you're much better than you actually are and you eat shit for making poor decisions based around this. We can see it in your decision making and the choices you make in tournaments.

GOD DAMN HAHAHAHA

I love this gif

Morrigan needs to be nerfed in general, Strider is fine, he's a glass cannon for a reason. Doom missiles still needs to be nerfed, we'll never get any of this though ;_;

Man this whole page rn

I need to play your Bowser vs my Zard once the Wii U version is out :D

Sounds like some of you need to Settle it in Smash!

You both are going to be there day 1 right? Playing the MK8 DLC with day 1 KartGAF made me realize how much more I prefer these titles on the big screen with comfort zone controllers. At the same time, I'm also terrified since you both probably have a lot more Smash 4 specific knowledge that I haven't been able to get much of since my 3DS' circle pad caught the drifts.

Edit: My dude Yams with the unblockable.

yeah def going to be there day one, I'm only ok at smash 4. I've just been playing it casually since I'm still kind of in a recovery phase :P

I'm looking forward to playing some of you guys again in Smash. I haven't played too much recently, so I'm a bit behind.

Still having a character crisis right now though.

Also, Q, I think the Bowser vs. Zard matchup is in the latter's favor these days.

I uploaded some of my Bowser gameplay on YouTube if you want to see where I am in the game.

I am there day one. Though I might have to wait until day two to play, since the game comes out on my 11 year anniversary with my wife.

I got to play SF2 on a cabinet at a bar. It was free play and I forgot how much throws and jump hk cr mk fireball could dizzy. Not all of sims normals map to sf4 sim but guile was still guile. After my third drink and loss my wife peeled me off the machine. Bison felt cheap.

I actually just started playing ST on GGPO because my internet can't handle SF4. Trying to learn Fei. Game is fun as hell.

I actually gotta say, I understand the basics of ST way more than I do 3S. I feel like I'm already a better player in ST in my first few hours of playing than my total time playing 3S.

Super Smash Bros for Wii U is coming out at the worst time for me.
Project Diva F 2nd, then Pokemon Alpha Sapphire, and then Persona Q next week...

If it weren't for the CDs, I probably would've gotten it next year.
