Destiny The Dark Below opening cinematic

It's simple. If you don't like it, don't play it. For those saying they won't spend another dime, if you're on cellular or even your own network, you're technically spending money talking about it on neogaf and your time.

It's much more time convenient to level up weapons with new characters. And with IB 2.0, I should have 2 level 30 characters by next week and a L29 that'll be questionable if 30 because I need chest. Can't wait for this DLC!!

You have a good imagination man.

It's pretty obvious that they had development issues and had to cut a lot from the game. I'm still buying it and I'm sure it was justified since they had a deadline to meet but let's not pretend that this stuff wasn't at one point part of the base game. People were glitching into these areas back in June with the Alpha.

I'll wait until both expansions are out and reviews exist. Not jumping in again like I did on launch day, especially with the current price tag(s).

Yeah yeah, everybody's jerking about the bosses being larger sized normal enemies.

The first raid boss is just a larger vex too, but the whole fight is pretty complicated, and the raid really mixes things up.

Simplify it all you want, but if it's anything like the VoG, the raid will be a fun challenge.

I'm getting it because I bought the expansion pass before release but I don't really play this game anymore.

I don't think it takes much imagination at all to imagine that the Dinklebot's lines in this expansion and any subsequent expansions were recorded prior to September.
I was commenting on how he suggested the expansion content was originally intended to be part of the original release.

Oh. Well, I don't think it takes much imagination for that either. There's a lot of content we were shown in pre-release videos that seems to have vanished from the finished product.

All of the new Tower lines, story in and outs, and in mission dialog were recorded well after launch for reasons that will be obvious (and relevant to your post).

Just found out the IB gear is level 30. Already have the raid chest and gloves for my warlock so I could conceivably get to 30 this weekend.

Just wish the raid gear weren't so ugly. Love my current setup with the dire skull helm combined with the nerigal savant set and justicar's gloves. But I'm stuck at 29 like that. I wish Bungie would just add a way to level up regular legendaries to 30. Seems pointless to have to grind for these special legendary armors for that purpose.

If the expansion wasn't called The Dark Below no one would be saying this. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that line.

There's plenty wrong with the line and other lines already in the game. Do we really need to go over this to placate your feigned ignorance?

im still stuck at level 24... I assume better gear will be attainable easier once this comes out

Nope. You just have to keep plugging away to get good gear. Keep doing bounties and save up crucible/vanguard marks, join a faction and level up your rep. At level 3 you have access to all their legendary gear and will star receiving gifts for each rep level gained. Once you have enough buy some legendary gear and own people in PVP. At level 25-26 with decent legendary weapons you can do the raid. By then you should be well on your way to level 27-29

Don't forget Xur. Try to do the Weekly Heroic Strike at whatever level you can - you might be able to hitch a ride from a Gaffer. You'll get some strange coins. If you can get to 13 coins (they drop from engrams, PVP, etc.), you can buy an exotic piece of armor which starts at 21 light. That and a legendary piece from a vendor will get you well on your way to the 26-27 range.

Edit: There is a great guide in the Destiny OT and plenty of people willing to help you with questions and maybe missions.

There's zero reason to be stuck at 24. I think you have to have all rare gear maxed out to hit 24 which means you have no legendary gear. Which is kind of easy to fix. Get your Vanguard rank to 2 and just buy your gear. 0-2 Vanguard rank is 2000exp. Most bounties give you 100. Tiger Strikes give you 25. Do like two bounties a day, run a few strikes and you should be at level 2 in a week. Buy a piece or two of legendary gear, level them up, do the same thing the following week to get more vangaurd marks, buy more legendary gear.

Should also do the daily mission to get shards/energy to upgrade your fancy new stuff when you eventually get them.

I'm just excited to have 2 raids I could run in a week as opposed to just one.
I wonder if they will add a tier 3 VoG raid for level 32. Otherwise, I don't really see a reason people would go back to do Tier 2 VoG if they are trying to get level 31/32 gear.

Cinematic was good and the dialogue perfectly fine, if theatrical. Certainly not the wince-inducing stuff that was in every single cinematic in the base game.

My daughter took one look at the new Sparrow trailer from the other day, and that was enough to put her on the hype train for the expansion. It's looking more appealing with every reveal. I'm hopeful the storytelling approach will be a large step up from the base game. Certainly the approach - having a single narrative thread run through the story missions, the strike, and through to resolution in the raid - is already a big step in the right direction.

Hmm, gives that WoW feel to it. They want that WoW money.

I'm still waiting on a price drop for this game, hopefully, BF as well.

I want to play the dlc but I refuse to pay £20 for it, especially when the price is a straight conversion of $20 which is wrong, completely wrong.

Cinematic is good, has a nice vibe to it.

However, I got the DLC bundled with the game. But I refuse to make use of the god awful level system. So I guess, that i'll never be able to play it :(

If you're having bad luck, Vanguard vendor sells Legendary gear than can easily get your light level up to 26 (up to 29 with upgrades) so you can start effectively Raiding, which drops better gear.

Also, doing the weekly strikes gives you opportunity to earn strange coins. Save 13 coins and you can buy yourself an exotic piece of gear from Xur. He drops by the tower Fri-Sun (leaves Sun 4:30am est, after reset).

If you have more questions, feel free to drop by OT10 http://m.neogaf.com/showthread.php?t=929683

We have a very healthy community and tons of info, if you need it :)

isnt that a character model from the base game? :(

Urk said earlier in the thread that what we saw wasn't the full picture:

We can definitely scale standard enemy types, and do, but for special encounters the team creates new geometry, shaders and effects, encounter mechanics, sound effects, etc.

What you're seeing in the prologue is one of Crota's forms. We'll have some more info dropping soon, but we'll be pretty tight lipped about the Raid and Raid boss for obvious reasons.

So isn't that enemy model already in the game, and I don't mean a knight made giant, we actually fight a giant Hive enemy in one of the missions.

Sardok from the Shrine of Oryx mission. Just has a sword now.

What I really liked about Destiny is that after playing for a bit, really exploring and understanding what content was there, is that I got $28 on trade-in.

I'm so hype for this expansion after getting my first 30 today.

More please Bungie, more maps/raids/strikes/modes. The base is great, now is just needs the toppings.

I can't believe they aren't adding a CTF-like mode with the expansion. Those two big maps are an absolute waste. They're shit for deathmatch.

anyone hoping for "story" is setting themselves up for disappointment.

It's good marketing. I would personally classify this as DLC, content wise. There is no fixed rule, but actual expansions have a history of adding massive amounts of content. I guess in Destiny's case, that is a massive amount of content.

They're adding like 200 items.

Generally, however, most expansion packs add, like, a full campaign (General Knoxx was $10 and had like 15-20 hours of gameplay; also stuff like Brood War). While we've got a lot of new items, we have only THREE quests, ONE strike (two if you're on PS4 like me), and ONE Raid. It's... not a lot of content, even if there are a 'lot' of new guns.

There are three story missions.
