GAF ads started crashing my browsers

Anyone else having problems browsing GAF the last few days? It doesn't appear to be browser or computer specific. I'm making 10 requests per second to various ad networks and tracking pixels, uploading megabytes of data somewhere, and then my browser eventually crashes if I sit idle on any page too long.

I'm not using ad block or anything. It seems like there's a problem retrieving ads for me.

I'm getting sick of getting security prompts on my phone when clicking the next page of a thread because the advertisement is different or something. I get tons of "problem with security certificate" etc. And I have gotten malware warnings as well on desktop. Maybe they need to change whoever selects or is running ads.

Yup I can see my firefox title bar tripping out because of pinging ad sites. Then if I come back after 30 min I have to force quit due to ad script errors.

Nothing is crashing for me, but on Firefox, my antivirus thing keeps blocking suspicious content. There is a blank black rectangle where the ads usually are, so it obviously has something to do with them. I think this started happening about a week ago.

Have also had this over the past couple of days. Opera has gradually become unusable on this forum for me. Have been resorting to IE but even there I get lockups and crashes often.

Thought it was just me.

My laptop is getting old, but it's not THAT old. GAF had Firefox on lock-down on my computer. Started having issues maybe 2 weeks ago...

So it wasn't just me, cool. I was worried the extra RAM I just installed the day before was causing me the issues at first. But yeah, the problem ad cause a major memory leak in FF.

Has been crashing my phone browser a lot lately. Don't know if it is the ads or what, but about once every couple hours it just shuts down.

Using WP8.1 Internet Explorer.

Just saw this thread and my browser crashed.
Using win7 IE11, usually it hangs the browser for a while and then it works again or the tab will recover itself.

GAF tabs were caught in a endless loading pattern yesterday. It becomes truly annoying by now - there are new problems with ad every week. At least it feels like it.

The last month has been pretty bad for sure.

Wow, I thought it was my pc or Ipad. Getting lots of browser crashes with chrome on pc or safari on Ipad 2. Mainly while on this site. However, I did have a few crashes while watching a gamespot video in safari.

Ads on chrome, while on my pc, are now just black boxes.

Scratches head...

No crashes here.

Mobile master race

Strangely enough, I get no crashes on safari while on my iphone. Safari on my Ipad crashes, though. My iphone has iOS 7 and the ipad has iOS 8. I had assumed that iOS 8 just was too intense for my 2nd generation ipad and perhaps that is the issue.

Yeah, noticed the desktop version using up loads of CPU time yesterday, slowing my entire PC down. Mobile is fine (Chrome on Android).

The crash / slow & constant loading only happens for me on the 4 thread listing pages. I have to hit stop just to stop the pages from constantly loading.

Absolutely no problems when I'm actually reading a thread though.

um...don't say that out loud
Really, when the ads crash the browser this can be acceptable, as long as he turn it off again when everything is green again.

That said, I have NeoGAF whitelisted on AdBlock, but suffer no crashes or vicious things from the forum. Then again, I also see no ads despite the whitelist, only black fields.

Is that what was causing that? I was getting pretty frustrated. Switched to opera, that seemed to help the problem but man that sucks.

I assume that's because the ads use iFrames and you haven't whitelisted the domain the iFrame is hosted on. Didn't even know iFrames were still a thing, they're shit and nobody should ever use them. For anything.

Yep I'm also having this, with Chrome. I came to post about it and found this thread already existed. It's really frustrating, the ads don't load and stay white then the page continues to make requests/load.

Seems to happen mostly when in the overall section view, in specific threads I'm not seeing it as much?
