Metal Gear Solid V - PC vs. PS4 screenshot comparison

Outside of that cool reflection in the puddle, the differences are extremely marginal. Especially considering you need to view comparison pics like an "I Spy" book to notice anything.

You must be another astroturfing casual console fanboy warrior paid by Sony if you say that.

Look better, there's a small light on the background, you should certainly buy a $500 GTX980 like just right now I tell you.

Not even kidding about this but the thing I'm most excited about is god damn AF. The textures turn to pure mud 2 feet in front of you on the ps4, I'll double dip on PC to support Konami.

Hopefully some of these engine improvements are in TPP on next gen consoles.

GZ was pretty much identical to the last gen versions In terms of its LOD and SSAO. I want to see those issues ironed out.

It *IS* locked on PS4 already.

Okay but it's more locked on PC. On PC the framerate is so locked it makes the locked console framerate look unlocked. That's the power of $500 Nvidia video cards.

That, and the fact you can contribute in this kind of circle jerk threads.

It was already locked 60 on PS4. At least on my playthorugh I never saw it dip.

Hardware permitting this is a "feature" present in all PC games.

It *IS* locked on PS4 already.

Guys, I don't really know my shit. I know it ran at 60fps on PS4, but didn't they say something about letting it not go above 60fps in the PC version? (They did!) That's what I was referring to.

Like I said above, it's probably more to do with some games hard locking you to 30 FPS (even if mods remove the cap, and also sometimes that breaks other things), they want you to know that's not the case.

Are you serious???

Are you serious?

The PC version looks a bit brighter, but I'd have to go over the pic with a fine tooth and comb to pick out any differences. During gameplay differences will be be even less noticeable because you'll be focused on the guards.
I realize this is GAF, and the PC guys like to act like there's a difference the size of the gulf of Mexico on display, but there really isn't. You show these pics to anyone on the street and ask them to pick out the differences and you'll get the same response.

It's funny because back when GTA V came out I briefly played the PS3 version before returning it and waiting for a next gen port. Last night I finally unwrapped the Xbone version and while it looks nice, I honestly couldn't point out any specific differences outside of maybe the cars looking shinier, and resolution being higher. If I had them both side by side I'm sure I could pick things out, but going on what I remember of the game? Nah. Sorry, I just live in the real world and seeing minor changes as being just that.

I did. Unless you're a complete pixel nerd (I know, I know, we're on GAF), you can hardly see any meaningful difference.

Comparison isn't well made anyway, there's slightly more contrast on the PC pic to make it look better (PS4 pic look a bit washed out, like if they chose "limited" color range instead of "full", it doesn't look washed out when correctly calibrated).

For 99.9 % of people (including me), those pics look nearly identical. That's the magic of diminishing returns and it will only get worse.

If you want a fair comparison, you certainly won't find it on Nvidia website anyway...

99% of people to be legally blind, confirmed.
Time to start revoking driving licenses, where you live.

Honestly the PS4 still actually looks better, I think. The PC one has way overblown lighting it looks like those shitty new Star Trek movies. All style for no reason, The PS4 version is more measured. The human eye can't focus that far in the distance anyway so all that crap getting circled is irrelevant and unrealistic.

It *IS* locked on PS4 already.

I believe they are mentioning it because half the consoles play GZ at 30 (sub 30) fps... mainly PS360.

PS4 and XBOX1 play the game at rock solid 60fps no matter what happens on your screen.

There is a lot of headroom for extra bells and whistles even for next gen consoles. I think that what we see here is a prelude to the overall enhancements TPP will get.

Sarcasm? There's like images that clearly point out the diffetence.

Because this game totally requires a 980. Not sure if trolling or serious at this point.

I think it will highlight how good of a job they've done targeting each specific platform. The PS4 version is already fantastic with a rock solid 60 fps frame-rate while the PC version takes advantage of more powerful hardware to improve upon things in a meaningful way. Even the PS3 and 360 versions of Ground Zeroes are impressive when you consider the hardware.

Either my eyes were deceiving me, or there were noticeable drops when the camera is moved while one is laying in the grass and the whole grass-transparency thing is happening.

The lighting isn't added. It's just cut back on ps4 because it can't handle it.

Look up lod.

No one said they shouldn't be included in a comparison, only that the outcome is not unexpected since the gap in hardware potential is so great. The poster I was replying to wondered why the length of the thread wouldn't be longer than it is likely to be; the answer is that the outcome is very much expected. Perhaps you misread.

Right, sorry 'bout that.

Guys, I know many of you are talking about the people shrugging the difference as being nothing noticeable. But consider this too, is the different big enough to warrant a replay?

Considering Ground Zeroes on PS4, I honestly just don't see it. That's just my two cents. Those who are playing it for the first time on the PC, they should get some enjoyment out of it, along with the die-hard MGS fans.

That said, now I definitely want to avoid TPP on PS4. The PC version will be the better experience unless it is delayed by more than a couple months.

Whenever "the human eye" is mentioned in gaming forums you can almost be certain that it'll be a comment without any real evidence provided to back the claim up.

Honestly, if a difference remotely this huge in geometry and foliage LOD distance would occur between the PS4 and XB1 version of any game, people would call it "LODgate" and the thread would reach 200 pages in an hour.

The PS4 and Xbox One are close in hardware specs so it would be discussion worthy.

I really don't understand the bickering in this thread.

They're doing as good a job as possible on all platforms and, in fact, there are already visual improvements implemented in The Phantom Pain that were missing in Ground Zeroes on consoles.

It seems like, in the end, each platform will receive a well optimized version of the game.

I think the differences/enhancements(imo) are noticeable and appreciated, and they should be more apparent in motion. I wasn't going to double-dip on this, but seeing as how they're putting in a little extra effort for the pc-gaming community, I think I will.

The lens-flares are there because of Kojima. They're in the PS4 version too, just not all of the lights are as bight/loaded in the PS4 shot. The lens flares are even a game mechanic to indicate lights being shone on you. You're going to see a lot of lens flares regardless of version.

Yup. Seriously, they should be given credit for maximizing the potential of their game on each and every platform.

PC GAF is 99% of people confirmed.

Yeah, my point is you don't need to be a "pixel nerd" how you put it, to see very obvious differences.
Whether you care about them or not, it's your own business alone, but we had about 4 threads on differences in grass density for GTAV Xbone/PS4, as well as a major shitstorm on GAF for the mere mention of the word "parity" on AC Unity between two consoles, so don't try to make this about PC gamers being on their high elitist horse, or something.

I swear this reminds me of this legendary GAF thread:

Video game graphics cognitive dissonance Thread
Post #1608 is a real person posting blurriness on an image as a positive thing.

Mate, take a break. You're coming off as rather sad and ridiculous right now.

Wow.

You do realise if the PS4 was a more powerful system then the PS4 and PC version would look identical. So culling features because of less powerful hardware makes the game better now does it?

There really is no problem, aside for a couple of posters pointing out (for whatever reason) how meaningless the differences are.

Pretty neat extra effects plus increased LOD. PC version it is.

Oh, I see the thread has already devolved in PC-only GAFers overstating the differences and PS4-only GAFers handwaving them. Sigh.

Hahaha, with the nonsense in this thread that is seemingly meant seriously, you might want to use /s there. It is getting harder and harder to tell.
