I still very much like this show, but it feels like so many of the eps are just filler.

Good filler, but filler.

Hong Kong still seems to lack a purpose

I still think the filler episodes are awesome entertainment, but hopefully they'll get most of them done early in this season, and then go ham with the inevitable LoA showdown the rest of time.

And I don't really think HK lacks purpose, at least in regards to looking into Oliver's emotional life. Dude is obviously lonely as fuck, has trouble letting people in, and his experiences in the flashbacks are helping to explain why. So after two years on the island - where Shado was killed, and Slade went fucking mental - Ollie is now stuck in a different kind of prison, forced to live with people who don't want him there - but who do get to tease family life - and forced into the role of contract killer. He doesn't even get paid.

No wonder the guy is crazy.

It's really weird what's happened this season. It honestly feels like he more competent writers have bailed to Flash, but someone pointed out it's still mostly the same writers.

Whatever's happening, I hope they sort it out soon. This has slipped to the bottom in my most list of most enjoyable comic book shows.

Flash
Gotham
Agents of Shield
Agent Peggy Carter (yeah, I haven't seen it, but I already know it's going to be goddamn amazing)
Arrow

Come on writers, kick the show into first gear already...

Maybe I just remember it more clearly, since I binged S1+2 on Netflix within the last few months, but those seasons had slow starts as well. It's not like they immediately popped into epic fights vs. Merlyn/Deathstroke. Maybe that's what a lot of people remember best, and so compare the climaxes of seasons 1 and 2, to what's still the start of season 3? Maybe the breakneck pace of previous seasons is biting them a bit in the ass now.

Don't know, but I don't nearly perceive the same dramatic drop in quality as some of you guys. Oh well, to each his own!

(rant incoming)
Honestly the further into this season I get
the more I'm starting to dislike Felicity more and more.

Oliver is emotionally damaged as fuck. First two seasons she's all pining over him, then when he finally manages to sort of overcome his damages, and admit to her that he has actual feelings for her she just nopes out and leaves him in the dust of Barry and Ray .
Yup. Felicity knew what she got herself into. Seems excessive that she put Oliver on a hypershort leash, when he actually tried to move forward. No wonder he pulled back into his shell. And the writers did a terrible job setting her up with Palmer: "here, have an executive title, an expensive-ass dress and some jewellery. Let's kiss!", in the process making Felicity a less than sympathetic character. Hopefully they'll resolve this better down the road.

I miss the island flashbacks if only because they were a change of setting. With the flashbacks now in Hong Kong it's just switching between two cities which is far less interesting.

Exactly right. If I wasn't sure, I feel like maybe they're attempting to turn Felicity into a disliked character. Her attitude towards Dig in her office seemed really bitchy, as well as sending her all over the place in expensive dresses and attracting the attention of everyone. Yes, she knew what she got herself into, but the fact that she tries to push it away as "if Oliver has a problem with it, he should say something about it", when she damn well knows he can't is extremely frustrating to me. Tearing out his feelings every time is not the best way to keep his head in the game. Look at what's happening to Roy right now, and what happened to Ollie last season when he found out Slade was alive. He was just out of it entirely. Either;

A: Felicity makes her choice and tells Oliver that she's with Ray now (to finally sink the ship and get the show back on track), or
B: Realises she's made a huge mistake, tells Oliver she fucked up and does her own thing from that point onwards.

Either or I'm happy with. Hopefully once the crossover and mid-season finale roll around things will get a lot better.

That last episode was full of shit and this season has been really terrible so far. I thought the whole plot with Cupid was really, really bad. The way she wiped Roy's ass was just ridiculous (off-screen, too!). Not to mention Oliver calling him "Arsenal" over the radio. What the fuck was that? Is he supposed to reply with "Yes, Arrow. The area is secure"? Then she was somehow capable to oppose Oliver for a while until she trapped him like the damn loser he is this season. It was just painful to watch and none of it made any sense.

Then the whole Thea/DJ bullshit. Holy shit. I really don't want to get into that. Cupid really should've killed everyone in the club and she would've improved the episode tenfold. The lack of Drama Queen Laurel was great, though.

The only positive so far is Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer. He's killing it as the creepy psycho stalker and knowing nothing about comics, it's hard to believe he's somehow a good guy. Can't wait to see him in action.

e: But other than that, eh. If CW continues to put unnecessary drama into the show, then we're going to reach lower Smallville levels.

Only two years younger than me and she's goddamned perfect.

Where the hell are those croptop gifs

She hit the gym hard during the down time and looks incredible. Those crop tops are killing me. She has it all, gorgeous face, amazing smile and now a perfect body to go with it. I'm even digging the short hair.

Just now? ArrowGAF is the thirstiest series thread I frequent.
After all those fan fics, now you think it is getting creepy?
I'm well aware that this thread regularly gets out of hand to the point where it's embarassing and, sadly, dissuades some GAFers from participating. However, I think it's best to try and strike a balance between firmly planting the "No Fun Allowed" flag and just letting the thread run completely off the rails. I figure it's easier on everyone if I provide timely warnings and delete a few posts here and there rather than waiting and having to resort to more drastic measures once people really overstep the line. If you have a question about moderation or what's appropriate in this thread, feel free to send me a PM.

LOL, that's not funny :(

I wonder if Thea will eventually get a new suit similar to how Laurel got one. I assume Thea will eventually take over a Chesire identity or something. Vigilante or bad guy? Probably vigilante.

Are we allowed to post the shots of Laurel's new suit in this thread yet or not?

I thought that too, but Shaanyboi made good arguments that she is becoming, well, Speedy. :(

Laurel's is a lot better.

Also, turns out that Amy Gumenick (CUPID, STUPID) auditioned for Laurel Lance!

http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/GraphicCity/news/?a=111302

Tonight, The CW's latest offering of Arrow finds Oliver dealing with an obsessive stalker bent on putting all of the Arrow's enemies in a bodybag. The role of Cupid will be played by Amy Gumenick, who previously portrayed Mary Winchester on Supernatural. Originally, Gumenick tested for the role of Laurel Lance on Arrow but that role obviously went to Katie Cassidy, another CW alum - Supernatural, Melrose Place, Gossip Girl. She told The Warp, "I auditioned for [Arrow] several times. I first auditioned when they were casting the pilot, actually, for Katie Cassidy's role. It was a show I wanted to be a part of. I've since then auditioned for various other guest stars and recurring [roles] here and there, but the one didn't hit. But [Rapaport] is a loyal and an amazingly down to earth person who really believes in his actors. So, I would go in and do my thing and trust that if the right role was there it would happen."

Well, it appears one has finally "hit" for Gumenick as se's set to make her mark as Cupid after debuting in the closing seconds of last week's episode. "We definitely get to meet this wild woman," said Gumenick on the obsessive Cupid. "Cupid is described as a villain, but she's really driven by love and determined to get the bad guys. She specifically goes after several of Arrow's rivals and enemies in hopes of buying his love, so to speak."

I wonder how things would be if she was cast as Laurel.

Personally I'm cool with your moderation. I would say the height of thread insanity peaked early on in season 2.

How are they gonna make the ATOM suit not look terrible?

Captain America treatment. Darker tones.

The shouldn't get a pass, because of her looks. She's still a shitty character. Making her look like a character from a 90s teen drama doesn't change that.

It's a CW show. It's impossible to get a pass because of looks when even homeless people are beautiful in Starling City.

Thea is awesome. She is the epitome of the spoiled bratty princess with a heart of gold type.

Y'all just wait.

when she brutally murders the DJ, who is a League plant.

Yo dudes I think this season has been incredibly terrible so far. I'm super frustrated at everything. All of the villains have been lameballs, the stories have been paper thin, the flashbacks have been frustratingly pointless, and the love quadrangles between everyone are fucking stupid and are only possible because these guys have the emotional intelligence of someone with autism spectrum disorders.

I died laughing when iPod DJ dropped the dance party bomb halfway through the episode. I died laughing even harder when they set up that triangle between roy thea and dancemaster steve by having him kiss thea. Also I feel like the prevalence of other archers sort of makes Arrow unspecial. How many master archers are currently trotting about starling city anyway?

I am however, as a spartacus vet, super excited to see the dude that played ashur show up here. I hope he gets to be a viciously and cunningly evil as ashur was, it'd totally spice this shitshow up.

For both previous seasons, the payoff in the second half of the season has been ridiculously amazing.

I have the same expectations for this one.

Ra's better match the swag levels of Malcolm, Slade, and Cold.

Fuck, maybe the pay off is Red Hood Tommy Merlyn.

I kind of agree with this because I remember feeling the same for the first half of both previous seasons. I just don't know if they can do it again because there's so much in motion now. You've got malcolm being around, Ras al ghul, captain boomerang, atom in the making, whatever laurel is doing, crazy cupid chick, speedy and dancemaster steve etc. The first two seasons had a very focused feel towards the end with one main villain with some sort of nefarious scheme that had to be stopped. Right now this just feels like the csi arrow power hour with a new flavour of the week villain every week, and I don't see how they stop it feeling like that with all of these characters in play.

I actually kind of like DJ D-Bag because, if for no other reason, no one--including DC fans--seems to know who he is or what his motivations are. He is possibly the only character in the series right now who can truly surprise us.

Also, I totally agree that it feels like they are trying to make Felicity seem like a bitch. That scene where Diggle visits her in her office, and she does the swoosh for the Palmer Tech logo, was...wow. No empathy at all for Ollie, huh?
