I'm not sure it will send the right message to launch a properly working version of your Beta product in the wake of your existing product being broken.

No game should launch like that. I am so goddamn sick and tired of this release a game in a broken state and fix it later bullshit. I've had it. I'm no longer buying a game until at least a couple weeks after release because I'm going to wait and see if it's a broken piece of shit or not. In fact I just canceled my Halo 5 preorder just now as a result of how pathetically 343 has handled this and the industry is handling games in general now.
If it's not done in 3 weeks, it wont be done until next year.
The fuck??!! It doesn't matter how sincere they are being. For the last fucking time, this is a business not a charity.
Adding more games and lines of code won't help anything.

They deserve it, it should have never been released. I don't understand this stuff about they tried and they are sincere, who cares? If they actually cared and were trying and were sincere they wouldn't have released it like this, but they did.
Hope it gets fixed. Don't want compensation, just want it working like it should. 343i can't win back some however. This game will still get shit even if they fix 100% of the bugs. Look at the reactions here. People were demanding an apology, and they got one. But there are lols and reconstructions of Bonnie's letter. It's now it's own thing, to be mad at 343. The game may be fixed, and 343 may compensate with a game or feature or free dlc, and there will be some still very, very pissed pissed.
We have entered that meme-like level.
You have to admit that the berating is deserved though.

Overall it seems publishers/developers can't be bothered to spend money on QA anymore and are too busy rushing their games out. (I realize DC situation is even worse with the 1 year delay...) IMO this is an extremely worrying trend in the industry and certainly the fuck-up of the year for several titles.
Also if something "barely" works, it seems be acceptable now, seeing that there is not much backlash over GTA Online.

I'll be satisfied as long as they actually fix the matchmaking, campaign, and UI issues. I just don't want them to move on to Halo 5 and leave MCC broken.

They keep claiming to have identified the central problem from which all others stem (despite the very next update largely failing to fix it), but have yet to identify the problem or explain why it wasn't apparent pre-launch.
Is it because they know if they disclose the true nature and scope of the problem, it will become obvious they won't be able to fix it in a remotely reasonable time frame? Or worse, are they this vague because they don't know what's going wrong?
(In other news, I've learned that GameStop only accepts unopened hardware returns. Something I should have researched beforehand, yeah, but I bought the goddamn console for Halo and never expected this game could possibly be an issue.)

I sort of half expect them to make DLC maps free for everyone in Halo 5 considering how strong the push for the esports angle is. Gotta keep an unfragmented player base.
Has MS delayed any of their games yet?
I kind of feel like they did not delay it to avoid the backlash that Sony gets when they delay games.

Still can't get a refund, asked for a refund on other titles, was basically told to jump in a lake. I think I'm done with MS now. They screwed me with my account on 360 because of a shitty glitch with COD Hardened Edition maps, I gave them the benefit of doubt because of Halo MCC, and now I'm annoyed that they won't do anything at all but lie about it.

No way they simply didn't know about these issues.
It really depends who you talk to. You need to speak to a supervisor and REALLY work on them. Took me over an hour to get a refund. They'll probably just get sick of talking to you and give up.

2) ALL Halo 5 DLC (including pre-order) free to all MCC digital purchasers

You can still get a refund. Call MS. You're allowed one digital refund per year.
There is a bigger problem at hand here. Apparently the reason why this game and Assasins Creed Unity were broken is because the environment they are testing the games on is not the same one we have. This is a HUGE problem, it could affect all future releases. I don't understand how you make the decision to test in one environment and release in another. It doesn't make sense.

I don't want a refund on this. I want a working game. They refunded me on Sunset Overdrive because I changed my mind on digital and went disc. Then changed my mind on disc and went digital again lol.

Xbox support over the phone and chat refused to let me talk to anyone else once I told them I was asking for a refund on MCC digital. I sent them proof that others had refunds, I was nice. Denied, denied, denied, denied.
In other news, I have a kinect I'm selling for $100 shipped if anyone is interested. Already working on selling my x1. Halo was the only exclusive I wanted to play. No point in keeping the system if the game doesn't work.
PC+Wii U+3ds should keep me happy.

343i and Microsoft releasing horrendously broken products knowing full well how broken they are is more ludicrous to believe than the Loch Ness Monster.
People make mistakes, period. End of story. Does it suck that we have to live with it? Hell yeah, it is. Do they need to own up to their mistakes? You bet your ass.
Are they completely and utterly devoid of all sense? Fuck no.
It's more than likely that someone fucked up big time and no one realized it until it was too late, or even that the division of each part to different companies ended up being as disastrous as we're seeing now.

There really needs to be a class action lawsuit on both MCC and DC. The idea that they are broken but you can't get a refund is absurd.
I was stern and mad, but I wasn't cussing them out like an asshole. I'm just giving up and selling. If a company wants to steal my money with a broken product, then I won't support their other products.
It's a real shame too, Halo was going to get a ton of time from me.

But the problems seem to be largely server-side. Matchmaking can't sort searching players into evenly-matched teams in a reasonable amount of time, even in unranked playlists. Campaign achievements and checkpoints don't properly communicate with the servers for unlocking/saving. The party system is laughable. The engine generally runs okay in-game, but the UI and netcode is a clusterfuck.
Note that the engine-porting was accomplished by outside contractors, while the MP/networking side seemed to be 343's job. This looks like an issue of incompetence and/or failure to properly test, not complexity.

Outside of GAF, most people don't go out of their way to demand refunds for games that are mostly functional. Not saying the MCC was released in an acceptable state, but most people don't care.
